In Strathmere, New Jersey, the morning of December 10, 2022, began on a somber note.
A dead whale weighing an estimated twenty tons was spotted offshore, soon moved by tide and waves to the shoreline where beachgoers took photos and videos.
(Snip) The young humpback became part of a movement that began with the asking of a question: What is killing the whales and dolphins? Along the Jersey Shore, several companies, including Atlantic Shores (owned jointly by oil and gas titan Shell and the French-based utility company EDF) and Danish-based Orsted, are mapping the ocean floor—the first step toward construction of hundreds of mammoth offshore wind turbines.

There is an old saying: "The end justifies the means." The environmentalists want solar farms and windmills. They could care less about what happens to the whales or birds or those bad conservative Republicans.

I happened to watch an older beachfront property program yesterday that was pushing beach houses on the Jersey shore. There is going to be a bunch of disappointed people who bought homes for the ocean view in Jersey.

Ocean wind turbines were madly installed before ANY "environmental impact" studies were performed. American companies can't dig a 2 foot trench for buried cable or pipeline without enviro-MENTAL whackos filing lawsuit after lawsuit demanding such studies. Those massive bird choppers are known to vibrate and cause low frequency droning on and on which will be transmitted to the water below. Water is an incredibly good transmission medium for sound, which is how whales and dolphins navigate. It's no wonder so many of them are going crazy and beaching themselves in an effort to commit suicide. Humans are prone to madness too after the "green energy" wind turbine moves next door and begins moaning "for the good of humanity."

These Green idiots are nothing but hypocrites, playing God.
We can't have fossil fuels but they have no problem flying in private jets, traveling on huge yachts, and living in mansions. They get to decide who lives and dies. Screw the whales, dolphins and birds!

These elitist environmentalists only care about green energy because there is a lot of money in it: federal subsidies, etc. They do not (and never) care about golden eagles, birds and bats slaughtered by wind turbines or baked by sun farms. They don't care about whales and dolphins and other marine life, but blame dead whales on the lobster industry. I don't recall the installation of off shore oil rigs causing whale deaths. Hmmm
And I do not want any Republican running for President to tell me he/she supports "all of the above" approach to energy. We have more than enough naturally occurring fossil fuels that we do not need any boutique fuel like sun or wind. And if anyone wants solar or wind - NO subsidies. Pay for it yourself.
The article didn't mention another huge off shore wind project under development. The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind farm - 27 miles off the shores of Virginia Beach. Thank you ex Governor Blackface Northam and a Dem controlled state legislature.

The new Vineyard Winds project was given a waiver to kill up to 20 right whales without any penalty.

Proposed for off of Long Beach Island NJ............205 windmills EACH 1000 feet tall ( the height of the Eiffel Tower ) with a blade diameter of
450 - 600 feet. To be situated 9 miles out ( the horizon is at 12 miles) , their noise will be heard by those on shore,
they will disrupt the winds and breezes that go to the shore changing the weather for those on the land. The will be strung with red danger lights at night .
This is the on purpose murder of our coastline , the fish, the fishing industry, the whale and dolphins.

Excuse 2nd post but as #7 pointed out, these favored companies get waivers on any protected birds, whale, etc that their utilities kill - just like the feds have done for years with the wind farms out west and mid-west - kill as many golden eagles as you can and no penalty or a very small one, but you're a single person on a farm and accidentally kill a golden eagle and it's large fines and possible jail time.

Comments:
Republican New Jersey officials are opposing this project while Democrats and environmental groups approve it because it's worth killing lots of whales and dolphins to end fossil fuel use. However, fossil fuel companies are allowed and ready to use the same area to drill in, as part of the "Inflation Reduction" Act and in the leases of the underwater land from the federal government. The Green nonprofits are probably making money out of this, and to hell with scenic shorelines and marine mammal life.
