As RedState reported (and as prior reports indicated), Donald Trump was indicted for a second time on Thursday, this time by the DOJ for alleged violations of the Espionage Act. That relates to documents that he took with him after leaving the White House.
The government’s chief piece of evidence is reportedly a tape of Trump discussing a national security document with Mark Meadows and his staffers during a Q and A for a book. The DOJ is accusing the former president of admitting on the tape that he knew the document was still classified. Jack Smith and his team of prosecutors are going to attempt to undercut Trump’s primary defense,

As we await the Supreme Court decision that could bring an end to affirmative action, Pew Research has published the results of a poll showing that fully half of US adults disapprove of it.
Half of U.S. adults say they disapprove of selective colleges and universities taking prospective students’ racial and ethnic backgrounds into account when making admissions decisions. Fewer (33%) approve of colleges considering race and ethnicity to increase diversity at the schools, while 16% are not sure.
With the court nearing the end of its term and decisions in two related cases involving the private Harvard College and the public University of North Carolina expected

The Daily Telegraph newspaper has inched closer to a sale after Lloyds Banking Group seized control of its parent firm over unpaid loans and placed it in the hands of receivers.
Sky News has previously reported how the bank was understood to have taken the drastic move and was in the process of appointing investment banks to handle an auction of the press pack.
It is understood to value the Telegraph, its sister Sunday paper and The Spectator magazine at £600m. They are contained within the profitable Press Acquisitions division of B.UK Ltd, which is controlled by the Barclay family.
The division also includes the Telegraph Media Group.

The recruiting crisis within the U.S. military is a very real thing, and while senior military leaders and “military experts” have been putting the blame squarely on young people, all signs point to the bigger issue boiling down primarily to one thing: the federal government’s dangerous obsession with all things woke.
And when I say “dangerous,” I’m not engaging in hyperbole. My RedState colleague streiff explained it well in a recent post:
The fact is that the military has become a hostile work environment for straight, white, conservative males who have historically been the demographic most likely to enlist. The Air Force has said it has too many white pilots,

Elizabeth wrote yesterday about taking seriously the presidential candidacy of Cornel West, and while no one thinks West will actually gain many votes, the memory of Ralph Nader’s 95,000 votes in Florida in the 2000 election still haunts the memories of Democrats. (By the way, since Cornel West has put out his own rap CDs, clearly his running mate should be the other West who has made noises about running for president—Kanye West. The ticket/bumper sticker could be “West2.“)
Clearly the left is worried about West, too. MSNBC is out with an attack on West claiming that he is . . . a conservative! Cornel West’s ‘leftist’ presidential bid

Despite the best efforts of the media and the White House to promote a liberal agenda on issues from abortion to gender change, America has turned back to being more conservative.
Gallup’s latest Values and Beliefs Survey said that conservatives top liberals on social policies and the economy, the two biggest topics America is grappling with. “For most of the past eight years, Americans were about as likely to say they were liberal as conservative on social issues. This year, there is a more obvious conservative advantage,” said the nation’s biggest pollster on Thursday.
“The shift is mostly due to increasing social conservatism among Republicans

Jay Johnston, a voice actor for the animated television show Bob’s Burgers, was arrested and charged Wednesday for his participation in the January 6, 2021 riot on Capitol Hill. He was benched by that show in December 2021 when his participation in the actions of that day became known. He was the voice of Jimmy Pesto on the show.
Johnston is a veteran actor with a list of credits that include Mr. Show with Bob and David, Better Call Saul and The Sarah Silverman Program. The feds put out a photo that included Johnston during the riot and asked for help from the public in identifying him. He was identified

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a surprising ruling in favor of Black voters in a congressional redistricting case, ordering the creation of a second district with a large Black population.
Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh joined with the court's liberals in affirming a lower-court ruling that found a likely violation of the Voting Rights Act in an Alabama congressional map with one majority Black seat out of seven congressional districts in a state where more than one in four residents is Black.
The case had been closely watched for its potential to weaken the landmark voting rights law.

Pat Robertson, the conservative evangelist and media mogul who galvanized the modern Christian right, cultivated a massive national following and regularly drew criticism for his incendiary political statements, died on Thursday, according to his official broadcasting network.
He was 93. Robertson was one of the most prominent and influential Christian broadcasters and entrepreneurs in the U.S., equal parts religious leader and culture warrior.
In a way, Robertson was also a business visionary. He converted a small Virginia television station into a religious broadcasting powerhouse, marrying fiery ideology with 20th-century entertainment technology. He inspired

The latest Twitter Files suggest the FBI helped Ukrainian intelligence in an effort to encourage Twitter to censor users, even American journalists. The Grayzone News host Aaron Maté unleashed the latest installment of The Twitter Files on June 7 in a thread that Twitter Files journalist Matt Taibbi called “perhaps the most damning about the FBI.” Maté reported the evidence, both on Twitter and Substack: “The FBI aided a Ukrainian intelligence effort to ban Twitter users and collect their data, leaks reveal. Twitter declined to censor journalists targeted by Ukraine, including Aaron Maté.” This newly released evidence once again implicates the U.S. government in an anti-free speech censorship plot

Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) declared he is running for president Wednesday morning, marking the third candidate in the past 24 hours to enter an already deep Republican primary field.
Burgum’s announcement came in a Wall Street Journal op-ed, where he was critical about the lack of “economic vision” in President Joe Biden’s campaign announcement video. “We need a change in the White House. We need a new leader for a changing economy. That’s why I’m announcing my run for president today,” added Burgum, who is also hosting his launch event on Wednesday.

Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie took aim at former President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, during the former New Jersey governor’s campaign launch Tuesday, saying the “grift from this family is breathtaking.”
“The grift from this family is breathtaking,” Christie said at a New Hampshire town hall. “It’s breathtaking. Jared Kushner and Ivanka Kushner walk out of the White House, and months later get $2 billion from the Saudis.”
Christie was pointing to the $2 billion investment made by the Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund, which is controlled by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, into Kushner’s investment firm A Fin Management, LLC (Affinity) in 2021.
