Presidential primaries get very dirty, and that’s to be expected.
But here in April 2023, the GOP one has already descended into a disgusting spiral of lies and insanity — because of the increasingly disordered and amateurish Donald Trump campaign. Trump has a clear lane in the primary.
He has a record of accomplishment as president; he led the country to prosperity that has since sharply declined; he exposes the politicization and corruption of our government agencies when he’s personally targeted by leftist activist district attorneys like Alvin Bragg and when he is the subject of a baseless search for documents at his home.

This is from the same Trump-hating organization which just fired Dan Bongino and Tucker Carlson.
Buh-bye!

Two alpha males punching each other. I am fine with it. Going to vote for Trump, but one day in the future, for DeSantis.

Murdoch's Fox News and NY Post have become so NeverTrump that I don't watch it or read it.
This NY Post reader has been doing so since 1960

If Trump has something legitimate to attack DeSantis with then that’s politics. What Trump is actually doing is siding with Disney and making up bizarre transgressions that are making himself look very bad. This may not end well for him. He’s going to need more votes than just his posse.

“Insane” is the wrong term. I used to think I understood politics but it’s too irrational for me to understand. Apparently these tactics work. I wish politics were more rational but maybe that’s the same as saying i wish the public were more rational. I wish a lot of things.
I presume desantis would like to be a VP if he can’t be the P. Trump doesn’t want to be a VP. So they’re pursuing different strategies. Desantis will be as “insane” as he needs to be to win his strategy. Or would he bow out if he is required to be “insane”?

This is how politics works. If DS can't handle Trump then he's going to get destroyed by the press during the general election if he wins the primary.
He needs to figure it out or stay home.

I guess anti-Trumpers still don't get it. We will vote for him no matter what he says. Words are cheap. Actions speak louder. Trumps actions while president shouted to the masses that help was finally back in government. I don't have to like his child like words or behavior - I love his actions as President and want him back.

Why is he doing this? He's far ahead in the polls. He's shooting himself in the foot. Everyone knows the good DeSantis has done for Florida. This makes Trump look desperate and out of touch with the facts. I'm all for a fighter, but I like a fighter who is truthful and shows some intellect Sorry, but lately Trump has failed in both categories.

Trump has already written Biden's general election ads, assuming he gets the nomination. He's also written off the considerable votes of "Rinos", on the blind assumption that a hidden wellspring of Trump supporters exists somewhere sufficient to generate 270 electoral votes. As for DeSantis being his number two, both are single-seat fighter pilots, but only one has the requisite discipline.

“Disordered and amateurish” exactly describe Trump 2024. He is attacking DeSantis from the left. Trump is insane to contrast himself with DeSantis over Covid. Trump’s record on the Wu Flu is terrible. DeSantis’ record is stellar.
I voted for Trump twice and will for him again if he is the nominee. I hope he isn’t. I look forward to DeSantis wiping the floor with Trump at a debate. Trump is the King Lear of our time.

About this anti-DeSantis ad alleging that DeSantis voted for cuts in Social Security and Medicare; how does a state Governor get to vote on a Federal program?

First, I sincerely wish that Trump was still in the WH. That said, words certainly do matter, especially the words of a former president and current GOP frontrunner for '24. More than a few of Trump's significant accomplishments were largely undone or negated by a dementia-ridden mean old liar within his first year in office, following Trump. Trump's praise of Republican-turned-democrat Charlie Crist (RINO FL) matters. Of course, Trump was a registered democrat during the first half of Crist's term as Florida governor. Both Trump and Crist switched parties around the same time (c. 2009-2010). As mentioned in the Replies, Trump's hard-core base will vote for him regardless of what he says or endorses. Trump claims DeSantis left a "wake of destruction" in Florida but it would be more accurate to note that Trump's presidency led to Biden's administration.

RE #12:
Most people forget that DeSantis was a Congressman before he was the Governor of Florida.
As for President Trump’s verbal attacks on Gov. DeSantis, if DeSantis can't counter them now, when he is taking friendly fire, he is going to get absolutely slaughtered by the left and the propaganda media if he wins the nomination. Now is the time to thicken one's skin, NOT in the general election. Many of the new and epithets President Trump has already used against Gov. DeSantis won't likely be used against him again because Trump said them and the left is almost maniacal about not using or doing anything Trump related.

Why should Murdoch, who is not American, have so much influence in American politics? He is micromanaging both Fox New and the New York Post. And probably, the Wall St. Journal but I don't read that. Unfortunately, the only thing worse than ancient Murdoch are his liberal children. At least he hasn't figured out how to control the internet...yet.

#12, DeSaintis was a member of Congress.
#14, You wrote, “… but it would be more accurate to note that Trump's presidency led to Biden's administration.” I agree that Trump’s presidency led to Bid’s illegitimate administration for the reason the country soared under the Trump Presidency. Once they saw he could actually get things done for the good of the country despite the heinous Uniparty, the left knew they had to take him out with lies, investigations, phoney impeachment claims and anything else they could throw at him including election fraud. The Democrat party went to work and the disgusting, spineless, war mongering Rinos chose not to life a finger to confront them.
#8, I agree with you. This political atmosphere is no place to hold back. Democrats are far more vitriolic and vicious in their speech. Has President Trump ever called for violence or done anything near like democrats have? Yet, he gets blasted as mean and unpresidential. My goodness look at what democrats have DONE. Frankly, all of you pearl clutching fools need to get some perspective. Democrats are literally destroying free speech because many Republicans are too timid to speak up and get in their face and throw their anti-Constitutional speech right back at them. All democrats want to do is control what we say and hear. They count on us being nice and polite…it is past time to take the gloves off and speak truth to their illegitimate cabal even if it is forensics to some. We are going to let these tyrants destroy us because we are timid? My goodness where did the good old American spirit go? We can fight for others rights and freedom. Or are we going to belly up when it comes to fighting for our own?!

Whelp! It looks like the lies of the demonrats, their lickspittle press, and the uniparty are succeeding in making people second guess President Trump, and anything he does. It's apparently not enough he's been correct not only during his first administration, but also his stolen second administration. Sigh.

too many people think they are smarter than our President, they are not!!! he knows exactly what he's doing and never does anything that will/would put him or his agenda at risk, to underestimate Donald J. Trump is like loading an 9mm pistol and pointing it at your nose and then saying nothing will happen conclusion: maybe something will and maybe something won't but that's something I'd never do nor would our President

Trump has never learned and probably never will learn that some things need to be left unsaid.
He and DeSantis need to have a meet and agree not to attack each other.
