In a historic election, the liberal judge Janet Protasiewicz is projected to win her race for a seat on Wisconsin’s supreme court. Her win will flip the ideological balance of the state’s highest court, which has been controlled by a conservative majority for 15 years. Elections and democracy observers have called this election the most consequential one of the year, with abortion rights, redistricting and election rules at stake. The race pitted Protasiewicz, a Milwaukee circuit court judge and former prosecutor, against Dan Kelly, a former Wisconsin supreme court justice with ties to election deniers and the far right. Protasiewicz will replace the conservative justice Patience Roggensack on 1 August;

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse released its second official trailer for the release of the movie in June. This trailer featured a scene in a bedroom with a sign that read “PROTECT TRANS KIDS.”
Not only is Spider-Man a comic book character that specializes in children's merchandise but this particular Spider-Man film is animated.

If you read through the conservative internet today, you’ll see myriad articles and videos pointing out that Alvin Bragg’s Statement of Facts and Indictment against Donald Trump are utterly baseless. In a decent system, they would be tossed out of court immediately. However, I’m here to tell you that this is not how things work in progressive/leftist judicial systems. They like going through the motions, but the system always works toward a single leftist end, law and rules be damned.
As I said, lots of lawyers have pointed out that Alvin Bragg’s indictment is so flawed that it should be thrown out on an immediate motion to dismiss.

Marvel Entertainment’s former chairman Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter said Wednesday he will hold on to his Disney shares, a week after reports of his termination from the role.
Reuters reported last Wednesday that Disney had laid off the 80-year-old Perlmutter, Disney’s largest individual shareholder, as part of a cost-cutting campaign.
Perlmutter, however, told the Wall Street Journal that he was fired for pushing Disney too aggressively to cut costs and running afoul of the creative executives whom newly returned CEO Robert Iger wanted to empower. Disney did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

And now an arrest for being mean to Emmanuel Macron on Facebook. An actual arrest for calling him “filth.” You are likely aware of the raging protests in France over pension reforms. As much as I hate to admit it, I am with Macron on this issue. Raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 is hardly draconian given the increase in lifespans and the fiscal crises all pension programs face.
The protests have been “fiery but mostly peaceful,” as they say.

Another contentious election, another voting machine controversy. As reported by local Fox affiliate WLUK, a voting machine in Green Bay broke down and needed to be replaced during Tuesday’s election.
“City clerk Celestine Jeffreys said the machine at the Green Bay Botanical Garden wasn’t working,” WLUK reported. “Backup machines also did not work.”The city had to borrow a voting machine from Brown County.

My introduction to San Francisco came in the late 1970s, when I spent a lot of time there as a young lawyer. For a Midwestern guy, the San Francisco of that era was a revelation: great restaurants, famous hotels on Nob Hill, fog drifting in off the Bay. But today’s San Francisco is, sadly, something else.

As such, they are shockingly-blatant punishment for Trump daring to become president. In this sordid case, the letters D.A. stand for Democrat Attorney.
The charges are the crime.
