Several years ago, I watched a documentary that forecast the disastrous decline of education due to the progressive control by censorship of academia. Indoctrinate U (2007) by Evan Coyne Maloney was an eye opener to any parent of students entering the college years.
My daughter had already been exposed to the political correctness mandated by professors at the College of Staten Island (SUNY) when her professor dressed in mourning the day after George Bush’s reelection in 2004. She realized quickly to stifle any conservative opinion that might impact her grading. (snip) About the only possible good benefit of the Covid pandemic was the gradual wakeup call to parents t

Grading has always been subjective. There is an art to good grades. Some kids learn that very early in their education.

So glad this is a 'must read.' The author not only points out the emptiness of course offerings as woke U's but offers at least one good alternative for those who will need college.
Not mentioned? The 90s movie PCU. Gonna see if netflix or prime has that. From what I remember, it was prescient...kind of like Babylonbee.

FTA: “ She realized quickly to stifle any conservative opinion that might impact her grading.”
Life sometimes requires courage. Or, one can become obedient and take what one gets silently.

My kids went to Ann Arbor and Madison - two of the most rabid Left wing campuses around. Yet they are not flaming liberals. I give credit to the way we brought them up when they were at home.

Good column.
I took pride in attending and graduating from an undergraduate institution that was so conservative that it held demonstrations in favor of the Vietnam War. As an undergraduate at my fraternity my frat brothers came up with a Pearl Harbor Day open-campus party "to get bombed." This was back in the late 1970s and I was told it was still celebrated yearly until about seven years ago, when a frat brother of Asian extraction dressed up as a kamikaze pilot for the annual party. He was OK with it, other brothers were OK with it but someone else was offended and the party was forced to end (by the Student Council) after a 40+ year run.
As for not getting an Ivy League degree - I'm way smarter than that. I married someone w an Ivy League degree - an attorney so conservative who would make the late Jesse Helms look like a flamin' flower child.

Did I just get lucky or did others who went to college in the 80s get a free ride in terms of political turmoil? I can't recall any serious political discussions back then with my friends. Sure, we discussed who we were voting for (I was the rebel who thought John Anderson was a great idea) and we were glued to the TV when Reagan was shot, but nobody got serious enough in their politics to burn anything down or get any angrier than a beer at the Overcup Oak or Jonesy's couldn't drown. My own innocent age.

Education has been wholly replaced by indoctrination.

I told my children...as they went off to college...tell the professor what he/she wants to hear...and go about living your life for YOU...not them...the reality is good grades are essential for entrance to schools...although now...it seems the covid has opened parent's eyes and they are more selective about which colleges they will support...stay away from the east/weat coastal schools and send your munchkins to middle American schools....MAGA country!!

When I entered college (at an adult age) I (personally) chose my classes. I did not take-in the class that introduced me to college, I did not seek a "college counselor". The ONLY counseling I had was from an instructor who told me how to make paragraphs blend with each other. Four years later (yes..4 years) I graduated with a Master of Science, which allowed comfortable living for more than 20 years.

I remember a fellow Viet Nam Veteran classmate at UT Austin...he got into an argument with a Commie perfesser and the perfesser physically threatened him...my classmates reply was epic..."If I get an F, You get a Death." He got a C.
Commies are first and foremost Bullies, a close second would be Arrogant, and most of all they are ALL COWARDS....we can go down the list of negative attributes for Marxists but I don't have years to discuss it.
