WASHINGTON (AP) — Last August, Daysia Holiday decided to try one more time to join the Army.
She’d taken the academic test and failed three times. So, when she was offered a slot in a new Army prep course to help improve her scores and qualify for basic training, she jumped at the chance.
Seven months later, Pvt. 2nd Class Holiday is a proud graduate of Army basic training, and is finishing her advanced instruction at Fort Lee, Virginia, to become a power generation specialist who will maintain engines and other equipment for the service.
Holiday is an early beneficiary of the new program, which gives lower-performing recruits up to 90 days

They need two forms of military basic training, one for the warrior classes and another for the administrative classes of recruits.

Ha. All those years of Catholic School built character. I didn't know it then but when I graduated it kicked in. We will fail with a soft military but I guess that's the point.

This is a massive insult to anybody who went through real basic training. (Fort Jackson, August 1970 for me). I hope one day we can be rid of these political generals who wouldn't know which end of a rifle the bullet comes out of.

Now isn't that just so sweet of the US ARMY, keep taking the test until you can recite the answers by heart and become an affirmative action power generation specialist. With a little more help from people who should know better in a few short years you can be an NCOIC of power generation when the Chinese PLA comes calling with their own power generation specialists who actually could pass the test on their first attempt.

When we were a boy my company in basic training was filled with worthless 'maggots.' With much yelling, screaming, rifle shooting and cleaning, hand grenade safety and throwing, the ever popular gas chamber, kitchen police and "gimme fifty" pushups, this maggot marched his b*lls off but graduated from boyhood to manhood. And then I got to see things that most men will go a lifetime and never see. The Army certainly has changed, and not for the better.

Says she wants to be a Green Beret. Right. Probably thinks it has something to do with the Green New Deal.

Not much chance she’ll ever wear the Green Beret. Start with mental and physical tests.
Barry Sadler was on target in his song. Selection is even harder nowadays.

Disclaimer 1st. I was not in the military. In a life or death situations some screaming is good to make you aware about life or death situations.

I enlisted at the end of March, 1966; then began Basic Combat Training at Ft. Knox, KY. A-18-5, 3rd Platoon. April-early June,1966. (The Army was turning out newly minted soldiers as fast as the system could do it.) There was a lot of: yelling, name calling, running, push-ups, calisthenics, marching and dismounted drill, memorizing, immunizations, classroom work, too little riflery in my opinion, hand grenade throwing, bivouac, cleaning (understand spit shining) of barracks, M-14 rifles, kitchen equipment, personal equipment. Then more Ft.Knox for AIT C-5R-1, 3rd platoon, for training as an Armored Recon Scout. More running, yelling, PT, pushups, 15-20 feet of horizontal ladder to traverse before each meal, classroom work, land navigation with a compass and contour map, radio communication procedures, proper use of binoculars; calling in and adjusting artillery fire, more spit shining of personal equipment, M-14 & M-16 rifles, M-79 grenade launchers, M-1911, A-1 pistols, vehicles--both wheeled and tracked, M-60 and M-2 machine guns; foot patrolling for combat or recon purposes, setting up ambushes, observation or listening posts, basic demolition principles and work, classifying bridges for weight bearing capacity, bivouac, styles of movement over roads or cross-country, unit and squad security.
Sad to say that the Marine Corps is dumbing down their recruit training as well.

None of these military disasters we keep reading about (like allowing uneducated and ignorant people to join the Army) is a "mistake". They are all being done exactly to plan!!!!
The woke lie-beral Demon-Rats know that they are eventually going to push the sane normal patriotic people in this country into Civil War 2. The last thing they want are competent patriotic members of the military that will side with the patriotic American side of Civil War 2. No, they want the military to be full of weak women, ignorant men, and homosexuals -- all beholden to the lie-berals for giving them their jobs. For the few remaining competent patriotic males left in the military, they will be kept as far away from any major weapons systems as possible.

Boot Camp for Snowflakes. I remember getting it in surround sound from 4 DI's, who yelled at me about my parents, IQ, and what state I came from and a whole bunch of other topics. I that wasn't bad enough, my DI had me by the neck in his office and told me how the world operates. But back then, we were told our primary mission was to break things and kill people.

Born in the 40's, grew up in the 50's, served my country in the 60', got married in the 70's, owned a home, had children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I've had a good life. Dumbing down America is going to ruin our country to a point that we are no longer the world leader that we were. Liberal progressive dimocRATS are ruining everything they touch. I feel sorry for those coming after me.

I went through Basic Training and I couldn't get over the idiocy of the Drill Instructors (DI's)...It was actually funny to watch them get unhinged. We had one DI yelling at a guy who wasn't all there, (mentally Slow). The troop started crying, and in front of over 200 witnesses including the Colonel that ran the entire outfit, the DI Slapped the troop really hard knocking him down. The Colonel immediately had the Military Police arrest the DI for Assault. Yell all you want but do not touch anyone! The DI was court marshaled and kicked out of the Army, he was an E7 with 18 years, it all went up in smoke! I have wondered since them what homeless camp the DI is living in!
