The Arkansas House sent the GOP governor a bill Wednesday to make it easier to sue doctors who provide gender-affirming treatment to minors, moving to effectively reinstate the state’s blocked ban on such care. The office of Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she backs the malpractice bill, which overwhelmingly passed the majority-Republican House on a mostly party-line vote.(Snip) The House-passed bill would allow anyone who received gender-affirming care as a minor to file a malpractice lawsuit against their doctor for up to 15 years after they turn 18.

announced on Wednesday that it will wind down operations and liquidate Silvergate Bank. The company’s stock is down more than 25% in after-hours trading.
Silvergate is one of the two main crypto banking giants. The other is the New York-based Signature Bank which has more than $114 billion dollars in total assets. Silvergate has just over $11 billion.

A former FBI assistant director is warning Americans that nowhere in Mexico is safe from the cartels, after the kidnapping of four US citizens and murder of two last week.
Latavia McGee and Eric Williams were yesterday found alive in a stash house near Matamoros, a border town in the northeast Mexican state of Tamaulipas. McGee's cousin Shaeed Woodard and friend Zindell Brown were both shot dead.
Their kidnapping is still being investigated, but US and Mexican authorities believe they were mistaken for a rival human trafficking gang and were taken by members of the Gulf Cartel.
In Matamoros, the four kidnapped Americans taken by cartel henchmen were rescued, but horrifically enough, two were murdered, victims in Mexico's vicious cartel war brought on by Joe Biden's open border.
News reports, citing an anonymous U.S. official, say that the four, who were black U.S. citizens from South Carolina, were mistaken by the killers aligned with the Gulf Cartel, for rival Haitian drug dealers.
Now this is possible, but it doesn't seem tp be a complete story. It implicitly suggests that the killings never would have happened otherwise.
Reading between the lines, this seems to say:

Rather than trying to get to the bottom of how the pandemic began, Representative Raul Ruiz (D., N.M.) spent his allotted time during Wednesday morning’s hearing on Covid’s origins berating one of the witnesses over a book he wrote ten years earlier on the human genome, implying that the book was motivated by racism.

The U.S. Embassy in Belgium posted a security bulletin on Wednesday warning that local officials have increased the presence of law enforcement on the streets after threats were allegedly made of an attack on Brussels’ 2 and 6 metro lines.
“Police have heightened security in response to a threat of a possible metro attack to be conducted today, March 8,” the embassy said in a statement. “Continue to be aware of your surroundings and use caution when traveling in and around Brussels.”

A Virginia school district is under fire once again for its 'equality' programs - this time for sending a letter offering college preparation classes only to black and Hispanic students.
Fairfax County Public Schools has since the beginning of this year been under investigation by the state Attorney General for withholding merit awards from students at Thomas Jefferson High School.
TJs, as locals call it, is the United States' top-performing public school, and woke teachers there claimed they'd held back the awards to boost 'equity.'
And now, another school in the district - Cooper Middle School in McLean, Virginia - sent a letter to parents which critics said was also discriminatory.
Tucker Carlson confessed to his producer that he 'hated Trump passionately', according to files unsealed by a judge on Tuesday as part of the Dominion Voting Systems defamation suit.

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. — An Arizona resident was surely surprised to find a wild bobcat snuggling in a doggie bed after returning home from work.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department posted pictures Tuesday of the cozy bobcat recently found lounging inside the San Manuel residence.
The bobcat is suspected of gaining entrance through an unlocked doggie door and managed to escape before an officer could arrive to retrieve the animal, the agency said.

Under the rallying cry of a housing crisis in the New York metropolitan area, politicians have begun a double-barreled assault against affluent suburban communities (snip) New York governor Kathy Hochul unleashed her New York Housing Compact for 800,000 new units over ten years. (snip) These efforts are based on the premise that there is a housing crisis created by restrictive suburban zoning laws. This is risible, given regional population and construction trends. Between July 1, 2020 and July 1, 2022, New York had a net migration loss of 651,742 individuals, or 3.24% of the population. Connecticut's population is flat, and New Jersey's annual loss is about 1%.

Hess Corporation CEO John Hess wasted no time in pointing out that “oil and gas are going to be needed for decades to come” during the Mar. 7 edition of CNBC’s Squawk Box.
Hess even stated that “oil and gas are key” in order to achieve an “affordable, just and secure” energy “transition." Talk about irony. Hess noted that “most people don’t realize that oil and gas are a strategic industry for the United States.”
