The White House said Wednesday it moved one step closer to meeting its offshore wind energy goals by announcing the first lease sale for developments in the Gulf of Mexico.
President Joe Biden set a goal of having 30 gigawatts of offshore wind installed by 2030, with another 15 GW coming from floating turbine installations by 2035. To reach that goal, the administration said it opened its first lease sale for offshore wind in the Gulf of Mexico.
Three lease areas off Texas and Louisiana could support the development of enough wind energy to meet the demands of nearly 1.3 million average households, the White House in a fact sheet.

Why did he wait so long?
He killed the Keystone on day one. Now on day 720 he takes the first baby steps toward offshore wind power generation.
Only schmoe would first kill your current energy source and then years later finally get around to start doing a little on the new source.

He's ruined everything else, why not the ocean view? Of course, I note he's putting this stuff along the Gulf of Mexico, not near California or any of the tony East Coast areas. Coincidental, I'm sure. *eyeroll*

Those better be robust systems. My family has had boats and beach houses in Galveston for a long time and the maintenance never stops. Never mind being over the water. One thing is sure, there’s no shortage of wind

What about the fisheries? The economic impact on the Gulf States? These towers are 90 feet tall with tons of weight at the top, presumably, in constant motion. Imagine how far into the Earth the support must be driven. What about the salt? Towers on dry land are difficult to maintain and topple regularly. Will they be easier to service out at sea?
Plastic straws have been banned many places because of the dire effects on aquatic life, but disturbing the sea bed, inserting foreign materials, and the steady, pulsating, whine of turbines is just fine?
ALSO...when did American citizens, especially those whose livelihood will be impacted, lose the right to have input when a dementia riddled swamp creature is handing out large portions of our coastline?

It will come in way over budget and way under wattage. The first hurricane will destroy it. Stupid.

the man behind the curtain (i.e. Obola) is sure staying busy the last two years. The Moron is traipsing here and there (or stumbling if you prefer) just taking care of so many things and instigating so many more for our benefit. I preferred it when he was stashed in the basement.

We have enough natural energy to last hundreds of years while future energy sources are developed. FJB I have no doubt that if a light was placed in his ear it would shine straight through his head.

Destroying The Gulf Of Mexico , so that friends of friends can make money. There is no climate " crisis " No climatechange/globalwarming.Those capable of critical thinking know that. We have enough oil and natural gas to last for centuries. When we don't tap into it , and in particular when the left bad mouths it, it's that same as it not being there at all.We suffer, they make money and amass power.

They need to make sure they are placed in the great migratory routes for the avian species. That way they will be able to appease GAIA or whoever with lots of blood sacrifices.

30 million people in Texas. 4.6 million people in Louisiana. Average 4 people to a household. You do the math.
It won't even cover one state.
But hey! It's creating jobs! it will boost our economy!
Will it pay for itself? How much will it cost to build and maintain? What is the lifespan for a wind turbine?
There is a giant sucking sound coming from Washington.

They continue to waste our money on these fantasy machines. Wind is a bad joke, on us, who pay double for it....first they take our money to build these damned white elephants and then our power bills increase because of the cost of this damned unreliable, super expensive power.
