Rail company Norfolk Southern ran scared of a town hall meeting in East Palestine tonight because officials 'were afraid for their safety' following the chemical train derailment disaster.
Representatives were due to attend to help explain what happened and how they could repair the devastation - and soothe fears of potential long term health problems including cancer.
But the town's mayor Trent Conaway revealed just before the packed meeting at the local high school: 'The people want answers. I want answers.
'Norfolk Southern didn't show up.'
Asked why, he said: 'Because they are scared for their safety.'

FBI agents conducted two searches at the University of Delaware as part of an investigation into President Joe Biden's handling of classified documents and there is some mystery about what they found.
Agents reportedly carried out the searches at the college, which is Biden's alma mater, in late January and early February, according to CBS News, but the documents removed from the premises by the FBI did not appear to have classified markings.
Agents retrieved materials from two locations and the FBI is in the process of reviewing them. The University of Delaware houses material from Biden's time in the U.S. Senate and

Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Ron Johnson (R-WI) are demanding an investigation into reports that U.S.-backed entities funded a foreign think tank that is trying to blacklist and defund conservative media outlets.
The Washington Examiner reported:
The Global Engagement Center and the National Endowment for Democracy, two State Department-backed entities, have granted $665,000 combined to the Global Disinformation Index, which is feeding conservative website blacklists to advertising companies. Now, Rubio and Johnson are calling for an inquiry into how taxpayer dollars have flowed to GDI, which intends to shut down disfavored speech.

Dick Van Dyke was eliminated after performing as the Gnome on Wednesday during the season nine premiere of The Masked Singer on Fox.
The 97-year-old legendary entertainer performed a fun rendition of When You're Smiling by Frank Sinatra and left panelist Nicole Scherzinger, 44, in tears when he revealed his identity.
'This is the most seasoned and most decorated we've had on our show, ladies and gentlemen,' said show host Nick Cannon, 42, as Dick revealed his identity.
Nicole openly wept as Nick asked Dick what it was like being the Gnome.
'It was really dark in there. ...I couldn't see anything,' Dick said.

Joe Biden raised eyebrows on Wednesday when he referred to the first black governor of Maryland as 'boy'.
Biden, 80, was in the town of Lanham to speak to members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He referenced the newly-elected 44-year-old governor Wes Moore, a former college football star, and used a word which is seen as a derogative term for black men.
'You got a h*** of a new governor in Wes Moore, I tell ya,' Biden told the union workers.
'He's the real deal, and the boy looked like he could still play. He's got some guns on him.'

South Park took aim at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Wednesday night with an episode depicting the Prince and Princess of Canada - a young royal couple who loudly beg for privacy, while drawing attention to themselves.
The red-headed prince and his floppy-hatted wife are seen promoting the prince's book - Waaagh - whose cover strongly resembles Harry's memoir Spare. They storm off a TV show after being challenged about their motives. The couple then move to South Park, with the princess declaring: 'If we moved here, people would think we're really serious about wanting to be normal.'

Wait, did I say Nikki Harris? I meant Nikki Haley, but it's an understandable mistake. After all, as a good friend deep in politics recently pointed out to me, Nikki Haley is the Kamala Harris of the Republican Party. And now Nikki says she wants to be president, announcing her doomed candidacy with hilariously hackneyed and overwrought fanfare ("Now is the time for a strong and proud America!"), though everyone with half a cerebral cortex can see that she's really just trying to position herself as the vice-presidential nominee when either Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis gets the nomination.

Rep. Bill Johnson (R-OH) invited Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to a town hall on Wednesday evening about the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, asserting that the official has not heard the concerns of those impacted by the disaster.
Local and state authorities evacuated all residents within one mile of the crash and started a controlled burn of the volatile chemicals to decrease the risk of an explosion. Vinyl chloride, a carcinogen used to manufacture PVC, was released from five train cars last week in the form of massive plumes of dark smoke visible throughout eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

The FBI’s reputation problems have accelerated with the arrest on corruption charges of Charles McGonigal, the former chief of counterintelligence for the FBI’s New York field office, one of the most powerful spy-hunters in the country — who also happened to be connected to Hunter Biden.
In twin indictments last month, McGonigal was charged with taking secret cash payments from a former Albanian intelligence officer, holding secret meetings with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, and attempting to remove top Kremlin oligarch Oleg Deripaska from a US sanctions list.

A Georgia State Senator referred to Justice Clarence Thomas, the second black man to serve on the United States Supreme Court, by the racial slur “Uncle Tom” this week, presumably over his conservative leanings.
The racist comment occurred on Tuesday as the Georgia State Senate voted 32-20 along party lines to create a statue on Capitol grounds dedicated to Justice Clarence Thomas, a native of the Peach State. In the leadup to the vote, Sen. Emmanuel Jones (D) likened Thomas to a slave that “sold his soul to the slave master.”
“There’s a whole laundry list of positions that Justice Thomas has taken that I find offensive,” Jones said, adding:

In a recent viral video clip, a man named Vince Dao skillfully debunks the trendy but vacuous, race-obsessed gibberish of fellow panelists participating in a discussion where “Asian Americans Debate Model Minority and Asian Hate.” It’s depressing to see young people accept (or claim to accept) the idea that our immutable characteristics shape our destiny. But it is worth watching Dao offer a solid defense of Bourgeois ethics.
Dao tells the group that “assimilation is not just a great thing, it’s a necessary thing. No society can hold together where people have nothing in common,
