A key signer of the open letter that wrongly suggested The Post’s bombshell reporting on Hunter Biden’s emails was part of a “Russian information operation” has accused Politico of distorting “what we said” — more than two years after the fact.
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper tried Monday to tamp down the growing controversy over the letter that he and 50 other ex-spooks signed after The Post first revealed the existence of the first son’s infamous laptop in October 2020.
Their public statement, now the subject of investigations by the Republican-led House Judiciary and Intelligence committees, was first reported by Politico

Russia has suffered some of the heaviest military losses in a single battle since the start of the war after elite units repeatedly tried to storm a fortified coal mining town in broad daylight.
Ukrainian officials claim huge numbers of enemy troops have been killed, wounded and captured in failed attempts to seize the Donetsk hamlet of Vuhledar.
They say that one marine brigade of 5,000 men was almost entirely destroyed, for the third time since the Kremlin launched the full-scale invasion nearly a year ago.
The carnage – and loss of at least 130 armoured vehicles – led Russian hardliners to call for public show trials to punish incompetent generals

Microsoft has stopped partnering with a foreign think tank, pending review, that was designed to blacklist conservative media. The tech company also reportedly removed negative flags for conservative media outlets.
After Breitbart News, the Washington Examiner, and the Daily Caller News Foundation highlighted how a Microsoft-owned ad network, Xandr, employed foreign think tank Global Disinformation Index’s (GDI) media blacklist, otherwise known as the “Dynamic Exclusion List,” Microsoft said it has stopped using its blacklist, pending review.
“We try to take a principled approach to accuracy and fighting foreign propaganda.

This one was almost too stupid to cover, but sometimes the really stupid silliness is hard to pass up, which is nearly always the case with anything to do with MSNBC’s Morning Joe and its lovebird co-hosts, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski. (Mr. and Mrs. Mika, as I’m fond of calling them.)
On Friday’s episode of the Trump-bashing, Biden-loving comedy show, Mika beclowned herself bigly, which is a piece of cake for her and her emasculated hubby.

A growing number of states and cities are considering or implementing bans for the future construction of not just gas stoves, but natural gas hookups themselves, a move that would raise costs for consumers and potentially have negative environmental consequences, natural gas advocates told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Lawmakers in the state of Minnesota introduced legislation Wednesday that would permit the state’s Commissioner of Labor and Industry to amend the state’s energy code to “mitigate the impact of climate change,” a directive that could be used to justify a ban on natural gas, according to the free-market Minnesota think-tank Center of the American Experiment.

The White House says that there is “no” evidence of any “alien or extraterrestrial activity” around the recent “takedowns” of unidentified flying objects in the recent days since the Chinese spy balloon.
Following the United States military shooting down multiple objects over the U.S. and Canadian airspace, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during a Monday press briefing that there was no evidence of “alien or extraterrestrial activity.”
“I just wanted to make sure we address this from the White House: I know there have been questions and concerns about this, but there is no — again no — indication of aliens or extraterrestrial activity

In the name of “equity,” the Biden administration and state Democrats have declared war on the suburbs:
The Biden administration and Democrats in New York, Connecticut and other states are fighting local zoning laws in order to build high-rise apartment buildings with “affordable” units in tree-lined, single-family neighborhoods. All in the name of equity, meaning everyone can live in a tranquil suburb, whether they’ve earned the money to pay for it or not.
The Biden administration announced Jan. 19 that it will require all towns across the U.S. to submit “Equity Plans” showing how they will make it possible for low-income people to live there

Parts of a report from a Georgia special grand jury investigating whether former President Donald Trump and his allies illegally interfered in the 2020 election are set to be released this week.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ordered three sections to be disclosed on Thursday, including the introduction, conclusion, and a section in which the panel “discusses its concern that some witnesses may have lied under oath during their testimony to the grand jury.”
Most of the report will remain concealed, including portions that recommend specific individuals be indicted, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

At least four people were struck by the driver of a U-Haul truck who wildly drove onto sidewalks and led cops on a high-speed chase before being arrested in Brooklyn on Monday, police said.
The man driving the truck first hit at least one person riding a moped near Fifth Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway in Bay Ridge around 11 a.m. before speeding off as cops followed, according to police.
A shocking video surveillance video obtained by The Post shows the truck smash into the back of a moped — spinning the bike around and sending the driver to the ground — before jumping a curb and plowing through bikes left on the corner of 72nd Street and Third Avenue.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said Sunday she did not believe Jesus would support pro-Christian Super Bowl commercials because they make fascism “look benign.”
The Christian group “He Gets Us” spent some $20 million on two advertisements that aired during Sunday’s Super Bowl portraying Jesus Christ as loving “the people we hate.”
“Something tells me Jesus would *not* spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. (Tweet) One of the ads shows scene after scene of angry people in each other’s faces and ends with the caption “Jesus loved the people we hate. He gets us. All of us.”
