HOUSTON, Texas — A customer at a taqueria on the southwest side of Houston shot and killed a would-be armed robber, according to video released by the Houston Police Department. The customer reportedly gathered the money taken by the robbery suspect and distributed it back to the victims before leaving the restaurant.
Houston Police Department investigators are wanting to talk to a man seen in a security video shooting a robbery at a taqueria located in the 6800 block of South Gessner Road, according to a report by Fox 26 Houston. A video released by police investigators shows a robbery in progress. [Video]

That was such a cool video.
When the bad guys know that this is a really realistic outcome every time they pull a weapon on good guys, you can expect a lot fewer bad guys to be pulling weapons on good guys!!!!
I love living in Texas!!!

Every place that is carrying this story is censoring the kill shot. I found it on 4chan. That idiot hit the ground like a sack of flour. It was beautiful.

Look for the MSM to censor this news story because it contains a political component...gun control and crime...that can only benefit conservatives. If this happened in a city with a George Soros-sponsored DA, swat teams followed closely by CNN reporters would be sent to the shooter's doorstep. It is no wonder, then, why he distributed the money back to the victims and left. The modern American legal system has become untrustworthy be ignoring white collar crime by sons of famous and powerful people , investigating criminal election fraud, or street violence against a person like Seth Rich.

That is right by Gessner and Bellaire, what used to be Sharpstown, now Gessner is the dividing line between Chinatown to the west, and a small Mex enclave to the east ...just a few blocks further east and north is now all Indian.(dot not feather)
In the 70's Houston stopped right about there, Sharpstown Mall(one of the very 1st Malls) was actually pretty far from Downtown, by standards in those days, about 15 miles. Houston now extends nearly 100 miles past it.
Judging by his truck...he is from down by the beach, or at least his truck spent a lot of time there.

The customer-robbery victim patiently waited his turn. You never want to draw from the drop (when the gunman is looking at you while pointing the gun at you). Wait until the armed robber's attention is directed elsewhere. Then blast him. Put him down. The defender showed good tactics. It doesn't matter if the robber is using a toy gun; all that matters is that it looks real. The crime is just as serious, requiring the same response. The robber could die if a victim fights back. That's what happened here. Armed robbery ought to be dangerous to the robbers. If a tough dude pulls a gun on a stranger, that stranger just might kill him. As Forrest Gump said, "It happens."

There are 14000 gun homicides on average in the US each year. And over 250k instances where the use of a firearm or a threat to use saved a life. The 14,000 get shouted from the rooftop. it is good to see one of the quarter million make the news!

When will we find out the robber was just gathering up tuition funds for his next semester of medical school or maybe getting enough funds to buy a loaf off bread to feed his starving siblings? It's funny that the Houston PD is so anxious to find the shooter, they're never that anxious to find a perp.

Active Self Protection's John Correia has already analyzed this armed robbery plus victim response, and even matched audio to video. Good job, John, as always.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAx9srqTFIs (Active Self Protection commentary on the video; this video is clearer than the video in the article)
The robber was having his way with the clientele of the taqueria, collecting their money as they cowered, until he turned his back on an armed customer who was biding his time, waiting for a perfect opportunity to counter-ambush, which he found, and took advantage of. Then everything went wrong for the robber, who received four shots in the back. He went down, still moving, so the defender shot him four more times.
The ninth shot, several seconds later, was to the perp's head, permanently turning his lights out. It was a kill shot, murder. If a cop had made that shot on a downed perp, he'd have been on CNN for the next two years, and in prison for life. The defender here was legally in the right until after the fourth shot, maybe until after the eighth shot. But not the last one, even if it was deserved (not legally a just desert).

Watched the whole video and agree with #11's analysis - the head shot will land him in prison if the police find him. That was an execution. Well deserved, but not called for. The perp was on the ground with up to 8 bullets in him. He wasn't going anywhere.

The armed self defender's first and only objective is either to deter the criminal's deadly attack or to end the attack after it has started. Once the threat is neutralized--is no longer a threat--the defender's duty is done. He (she) has to stop shooting. To use deadly force after the threat is immobilized is to become a murderer. The purpose of the legal gun is not to kill. It's to stop the threat. If the threat happens to get killed in the exchange, that's a side benefit for society.

The shooter is a hero and I hope that law enforcement never finds him. He has no one to answer to and entitled to anonymity. The responsibility falls 100% on the dumbass with a plastic gun. This was not an act of vigilantism but a perfect example of what the second amendment is all about. The shooter was defending himself and doing so protecting the lives of everyone in the restaurant. If the gun had been real, there's a thousand ways this could have gone wrong. The shooter acted appropriately and is obviously smart enough to know that if he stuck around this heroic act would turn into a nightmare for him. Criminals have turned America into the wild west but are pampered by the justice system. Politicians have perverted the justice system and robbed law abiding citizens of their rights in favor of their favorite victims, violent criminals. This hero would have been pilloried by the leftist media, law enforcement and would be fodder for greedy lawyers and ambitious prosecutors. I don't know who you are sir but you are a hero, my hat's off to you, I stand and applaud you and wish I could shake your hand.

If they think they have the right to rob us, then I think we have the right to kill them. I hope the shooter had the good sense to wipe down his ammunition with an alcohol-soaked cloth when he loaded that magazine.
I’ll bet the Houston PD will look for the shooter for about three days. After that, not so much.

The guys in the YouTube analysis call shot 9 an "anger shot."
That wasn't anger. That was ADRENALIN, lots and lots of adrenalin, fueling the Flight or Fight response.
For shots, 4 thru 8, we have all seen too many TV shows and movies where the supposedly neutralized guy comes back to life, gets his gun and shoots the good guy.
But that last shot is pure adrenalin. The defenders probably have never had any training in how to overcome that adrenalin rush. If you have ever had that rush, you know how overwhelming it is.

This guy is a hero!!!!! The police aren't going to put much effort into finding him (since they see him as a hero too). Nobody is going to call the police to tell them who he is (since they all see him as a hero too). And this is Texas, so no jury in this state is going to find him guilty of anything if they do catch him (since they will all see him as a hero too).
All those holier-than-though people saying "he didn't need to do that 9th shot", it sure is nice sitting in your safe and warm little house, with nobody pulling a gun on you and threatening your life, second guessing someone in the most stressful life-and-death situation they will ever be in.

Notice the article states - "No charges have been filed against the man who fired the shots to stop the robbery." Of course not, they don't know who he is!!

Unfortunately, the DA will go after this guy. The final “execution” shot will get him in big trouble. That said, I am on the shooter’s side. The perp went around sticking a (fake) gun in peoples faces. They didn’t know it was fake and were terrified. I hope he gets away but I doubt he will. After all, he killed a protected class of person of color.
