Why did Republicans underperform during the 2022 mid-terms? That question has become a near-constant point of contention on the right.
Was it a candidate quality issue? I’d argue that was certainly the case in several high-profile races, but that’s obviously not the only thing that plagued the GOP. There was also a lack of coherent messaging from leadership, and in many important races, Democrats were simply able to outspend their opponents by large margins. The RNC’s inability to harvest votes and bank early votes didn’t help either. Donald Trump is looking elsewhere for an explanation, though. In an eyebrow-raising rant on Sunday, he appeared to blame pro-lifers for GOP woes.

Every time Trump gives a speech, the media calls it a rant. Wonder if they have a dictionary of negative adjectives because that's all they use to describe his speeches.

I have to admit that both the left and the right have exhausted me. No one, and I mean no one. is looking out for the American public. They are in it to enrich themselves, exert control over us which will allow them to bank even more cash, and they just don't give a damn. I am disappointed to no end at what has become of our political system. They all stink.

Trump cannot win re-election on the votes of his die-hard supporters alone. He needs independents and suburban women because he isn't going to pull enough Blacks and Hispanics away from traditional Dim support. The problem is that DJT's mouth and online tweets/messaging are his own worst enemies. Many do love him for his New York, in-your-face, brashness. But only self control and staying on-message will win him back the Presidency.

Did prolifers lose incentive after the scourge of roe was undone? IDK but the one-issue pro aborts certainly flooded the zone. Led by young college ed females who voted for their own rape and murder in NY in astounding #s.
Maybe it looked like soft support by comparison but I reject Trump's premise.
We won in PA and AZ and conceded all future elections in the ballot steal states.
Don't obscure the issue by affirming the MSM narrative cover story.
Bonchie gave the right response but this is a news cycle flash flash fire that will dissipate into the atmosphere.

Trump can’t act unless he is single threaded! Now it’s abortion! Who put that into his pee brain anyway? Ivanka? Good grief! I tire of his antics! He use to be fresh and fun…now he’s just trying to be a Pol! Boring!

Apparently some people in this comment thread failed to actually read what Trump posted--not a "speech" he gave! What he said was precisely WRONG! If he thinks he is going to win anything by trashing the pro-life voting block who supported him by overwhelming numbers, he really has another think coming.

From my Life Application Study Bible: "Unborn generations are depending on our faithfulness today. As we teach our children about the Lord, so they will teach their children and their children's children. If we fail to tell our children about the Lord, we may well be breaking the chain of God's influence in generations to come. We must view our children and all the young people we meet as God's future leaders. If we are faithful in opportunities today, we may well be affecting the future."
My comments come from the statement #2 made (I have to admit that both the left and the right have exhausted me) along with the above paragraph.
When someone does not grow up learning about God, His sovereignty, His authority, they do have the influence of faith in their decision making. At the same time, someone who has grown up in the faith life may not have the understanding of a person who has not grown up in faith and how little God has been the authority in their life. God is always replaced with alternative influences or motivations - false gods. . .
I don't know where Donald Trump's faith life is but some of his remarks certainly leave cause for question. This is one of them.
I think politics has become so divided that nobody is working together for the interest of the AMERICAN PEOPLE. Government and politics has become so gluttonous, bloated, self-serving and greedy. Wisdom comes from God only so the more politicians stray from God, the more they lean on their own understanding (or lack thereof).
It is getting tiresome and OLD.

He didn't "blame pro-lifers". Good grief. And he certainly wasn't saying that all pro life voters are single issue voters. What he did day was that those pro lifers who ARE sugle issue voters, and they absolutely do exist, failed to turn out in the midterms. Is that correct? I I don't know. I'm not privy to that information, nor, I suspect, are some who want to pounce on what he said. But I have little doubt he may be correct. That is often the case with voters who focus only on one issue. And again, while most of us who are pro life certainly have other issues that we are concerned about as well, that's not true for all. There are always issues on the left and right that certain people focus on and, once it's resolved, they feel their work is done. It's likely they constitute only a small bloc of pro life voters, but there's no doubt that even a small number in recent elections can be enough to have a negative effect.
This is obviously an attempt to try to say that he is disparaging those who are pro life. Considering the fact that he did more in his time in office to help protect the unborn than any president I can recall,
and that he helped put the justices in place to overturn Roe v. Wade, and that he rejoiced along with everyone else who support's life when it was overturned, this is a ludicrous attempt to smear him, once again.

It's also humorous to see the faux outrage of some here when these type of articles get posted. Especially the ones who seem to only show up and post on these type threads. Again, anyone who actually knows anything about Trump's time in office and subsequent time out of office, would know that he is certainly not trying to disparage the pro life movement. That you want to clutch your pearls about it simply shows that you're not so much concerned about conservatism or even the pro life movement as you are consumed with hatred for Trump. Alls you're not even clever about it.

Trump "rants" while democrat politicians give brilliant speeches while they tear up SOTU documents on camera, cry crocodile tears when they are accused of cheating and attempt to show-trial Donald Trump for doing what they have been doing since 2015, taking over the US Government by use of criminal tactics and brute force. Trump has not changed one bit, you get competent leadership flavored by slightly off-color comments. Take it or leave it. If you leave it, you get crooks and communists who promise you sunshine and rob you blind. Imagine the outcome of WW2 if we had dismissed George Patton for the same reasons.

I believe Tim Michels, Trump endorsed candidate for governor in Wisconsin, was a strong advocate of the 1848 state law that totally banned abortion...and lost to the worst governor in the state's history, Tony Evers. Michels was an awful candidate trying to be a Trump tough guy. His abrasive manner cost him bigly.

Trump said for years the republicans stated they were anti abortion yet never brought it out in mid terms as a campaign issue after the Rove decision. Trump is 10000000% against abortion. The dems convinced some republicans that abortion was acceptable by the majority of voters.

I have one more comment. I found it of a curious nature the timing of the Supreme Court's decision to reverse Roe vs Wade. I can't help but think there are some individuals on the Supreme Court who are really, really glad that Biden is President of the USA. After all, they looked the other way when it came to election fraud. . .

He's right, in part. Some Republican candidates were abortion absolutists--not even making an exception to save the life of the mother. There was a very good candidate for the House in Indiana, a black woman with a military background, but she was hammered on her absolutist stand on abortion. Likewise, in Illinois, Darren Bailey had no chance against Pritzker with independents because of his position on abortion. Before Roe, abortion was always legal to save the life of the mother. Why is this even an issue? And whether or not abortion is morally justified in cases of rape, that is what the voters obviously want.

Don't need Trump to tell me what is wrong.
What have the democrats done to gain votes? Bet you can name 3 or 4 things. Saving the planet. Social justice. Entitlements. Educating the voter.
What have the Republicans done? Honestly, can't name a single thing.
The Democrats have outspent the Republicans, and it shows. The Republicans aren't even trying.

No Trump, it was you, McConnell, Ronna that made a disaster out of our mid-terms. You and your wife should have stayed out the Pennsylvania race, endorsing OZ. David McCormick would have won hands down without your interference. Now we have Fetterman who is mentally incapable to make any decision. We can also throw in our PA GOP leader, Tabas which is useless. Yes, I'm angry. Let's move on because the longer I have to discuss this I become very angry.

Abortion wouldn't be the issue that it is nationally if federal government wasn't involved in every aspect of our lives. The answer to most of America's problems is to break the federal government.

Like or dislike Trump but he or DeSantis will never see the inside of the White House unless the cheating is curbed in the next two years. Pete Buttigieg has more of a chance of winning without having to even campaign as long as paper ballots and drop boxes are out there. The Arizona election is the best example of fraud cheating Kari Lake was 'Trumped'. I don't care what Trump says or tweets I'm still voting for him if he is nominated.
