Friday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Jesse Watters Primetime,” House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy teased Congress’ immediate upcoming actions to start 2023.
First up, according to the California Republican, after electing the Speaker of the House was to repeal the 87,000 IRS agents provision passed by Congress earlier this year.
“Great question – the first thing we have to do is elect our Speaker. We can’t do anything until we elect that Speaker,” he said. “And if you watch, the White House is actually pushing back on our investigations, saying we’re not going to give you anything till you get this solved.

Left-leaning Democrats have soured on Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in response to the mass flight cancelations during the holiday season despite his promise to fix the problem back in September of this year.
In a tweet on Thursday, Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), one of the few Democrats who criticized Twitter’s decision to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story, publicly scolded Buttigieg for not sticking to his pledge to hold airlines accountable.
“Nearly six months ago @BernieSanders & I called for Buttigieg to implement fines & penalties on airlines for cancelling flights. Why were these recommendations not followed?”

An NYPD officer on his first day on the job was stabbed in the head with a machete by a 19-year-old who investigators believe may be an Islamic extremist during New Year's Eve celebrations near Times Square.
The attack happened just after 10 p.m. about eight blocks from Times Square, just outside of the high-security zone where thousands of revelers were screened for weapons as they prepared to ring in 2023.
Trevor Bickford, 19, of Wells, Maine, allegedly approached the officers on 8th Avenue between 51st and 52nd streets armed with a large knife that he used to slash two of them, Commissioner Keechant Sewell said at an overnight press conference.

Dr. Jill and Joe delivered a New Year message during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rocking Eve with host Ryan Seacrest.
Dr. Jill shouted over her husband, “Happy New Year!”
Ryan Seacrest asked the Bidens about their first New Year’s eve together.
Joe Biden mumbled something about spending the evening with Jill’s whole family because they weren’t married yet. This never happened.
At one point Dr. Jill told Americans to get their Covid vaccine and flu shot.
“You better listen to her,” Biden mumbled.

Maxwell Frost, the first member of Generation Z to be elected to Congress, said he will likely couch surf during his first days as a lawmaker in Washington, D.C. because he was denied apartment applications.
Apartment buildings in Washington, D.C. conduct credit checks and most require tenants to make triple the monthly salary that the apartment costs.
Frost, who will make a yearly salary of $174,000 as a House congressman, said that he was denied apartment applications because of his 'really bad' credit.
'Yeah, I mean, it's not cheap,' Frost, 25, told ABC's This Week on Sunday morning.

Incoming House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) revealed a list of legislation that he will bring up for Republicans to consider on the House floor when they assume control of the lower chamber in mere days and loosen the Democrats’ grip on power in Washington.
.(snip)A review of the bills and resolutions Scalise has scheduled for the first two weeks of the new Congress—like defunding the IRS or restricting releases from the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve—suggests Republicans want to send a message to the Biden administration that the winds of change are about to blow harder.

Vice President Kamala Harris is requiring any senator or family member or guest of a senator wishing to take a photo with her at Tuesday’s swearing-in ceremony for the new Congress to have a negative coronavirus test taken within 24 hours of the picture, Breitbart News has learned.
The U.S. Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Protocol Office blasted out a message on Thursday to all Senate offices noting that Harris’s office is requiring the coronavirus tests before taking photos with the vice president.
“The Vice President’s office has requested that we send their standard COVID-19 protocol information to offices participating in the reenactment opportunity in the Old Senate Chamber. Please see their suggested process below,”

Now that Democrats have released Trump’s tax returns, an unprecedented and vindictive move, they may regret it.
A majority of voters want the tax returns of these Democrats to be released, according to a new poll.

Joe Biden was a profile in pettiness when he took up residence in the White House, trying to rid the Oval Office of the famous Resolute Desk merely because Donald Trump used it — and cursing out his predecessor over a video game system, a forthcoming book claims.
In “The Fight of His Life,” out Jan. 17, author Chris Whipple writes that Biden “would let loose” on the “former guy” whenever he took a friend on a private tour of the presidential abode.
Biden unleashed his ire on an upstairs room where Trump had installed a big-screen TV and a golf simulator that allowed him to practice his swing

With the start of the new year, New Yorkers are set to have their worlds turned upside down — and all for a fanciful green-dream plan that comes with sky-high costs and mountains of other pain yet is almost certain to fail, and won’t even do much good if successful. (Snip) It’s pure delusion. Consider: By 2030, just seven years from now, the law requires a 40% cut in emissions over 1990 levels, and 85% by 2050. Yet as of 2019, emissions had dropped only 7% despite years of effort. The law also requires a shift to renewable energy for CORRECTION*

The family of accused Idaho murderer Bryan Kohberger is standing by their son in an effort to “promote his presumption of innocence,” they said Sunday in their first public statement.
Kohberger, 28, was arrested Friday in his family home in Pennsylvania for the fatal Nov. 13 stabbings of four University of Idaho students.
His public defender Jason A. LaBar released the statement on behalf of his parents and his sister.
“We have fully cooperated with law enforcement agencies in an attempt to seek the truth and promote his presumption of innocence rather than judge unknown facts and make erroneous assumptions,” the family said.

California will see several radical laws go into effect on Sunday, January 1, including a law making the state a “sanctuary” for “transgender kids,” and a law imposing penalties on doctors for COVID “misinformation.”
Here are the five most radical new laws — plus one that is currently on hold in the courts — taking place on New Year’s Day in the Golden State, with little effective opposition from a shrinking Republican legislative minority:
1. SB 107: ‘Sanctuary State’ for ‘Transgender Kids’ – This law, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) in September, protects the use of drugs or surgery to provide so-called “gender-affirming care” to children from other states where
