The January 6 committee on Monday referred former president Donald Trump to the Department of Justice for prosecution on four charges related to his conduct leading up to and during the riot that occurred in the Capitol in the wake of his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
The referrals include obstruction of an official proceeding, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., making a false statement, and inciting an insurrection, the last of which could disqualify Trump from holding public office in the future.
Trump attempted to “disrupt the peaceful transition of power” in a grave betrayal of duty as outlined in the “take care” clause of the Constitution and in a “crime

An "impeachment trial," is NOT an impeachment trial if the presiding officer is NOT the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
They've all been show trials.

History will not be kind to this tragedy. Let the post-modernist political show trials begin. I'll be looking forward to seeing Biden's personal tax returns and money laundering schemes in the next Congress.

They probably had to literally brush the dust off these charges since I have no doubt they were written well before the committee actually began its “work”.

I could not listen to this Hollywood-produced spectacle very long. I watched as Nixon was smeared forever worldwide and any good he did as President buried under accusations for things he never did. We said history would recalibrate things and the truth would prevail. We watched the Clintons get away with everything. We said history would not be kind to them. Unfortunately, the history books, PBS documentaries and movies are made by Democrats and worse. Now this and I can barely take all the good Trump did being ignored by the Church and self-serving Republican Party establishment barely defending him.

They hate Trump more than they love/respect the rule of law.
The very structure of this committee was of that of an inquisition considering, eg, their denial of the accused’s right to be heard in a fair and impartial manner.
It’s been a very destructive episode.

I recommend the Jan. 6 Committee face charges.
They have wasted thousands of dollars in their effort to stop trump from running for President.

The Constitution does not prohibit an indicted or even a convicted individual from running for President. This will simply increase Trump's popularity.

My understanding is the "committee" wasn't legally formed since the Republicans weren't allowed to select their own representatives. So whatever they recommend isn't valid. But you can be sure the DOJ won't care about that and will go ahead and prosecute anyway. Welcome to the USSA.

They are hanging it all on this from the 14th amendment m:
No person shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

In a real trial, not a dog-and-pony-show-trial like what Congress has been putting on, will allow President Trump to call witnesses and introduce evidence.
It is going to make the Demon-Rats look like the petty, evil, mentally ill people that they all are!!!!!
I honestly won't be shocked if the Dept of Justice "declines" to prosecute -- thus covering the Demon-Rat's rear ends. The Demon_Rats can still claim to their brain-dead base voters that they tried to bring Trump to justice, wah, wah, wah!!!

I gotta hand it to his hotel maids. As hard as they've all tried, not a single one has flipped and turned state's evidence to charge Trump with tearing off those "Do not remove under penalty of Federal Law" tags off his hotel mattresses.

Although I knew this was coming it still infuriates me because these no good degenerates know these are bogus charges. This is nothing but the worst kind of political persecution. Their motivation is pretty clear, dirty up Trump so he cannot run. They know they cannot beat his list of accomplishments so the only strategy is to get rid of him. I guess we should be thankful they did not JFK him, but nothing they do would surprise me.
I do hope President Trump’s base makes it clear to these dishonest fools that they are treading on very thin ice. It’s time someone put the fear of the Lord into them. We cannot just continue to accept their lawlessness without confronting them or their illegal behavior will never end.

I guess we're supposed to be Nixon and let the steal happen, like with Kennedy, huh? Not sure why that is considered a good idea. When one party does everything in its power to steal an election, as the democrats did in 2020, patriots must stand up and fight!
One thing we have learned from all of this is just how deep and pervasive the swamp really is! Is it too late to save this beloved country? Maybe...

On January 6th 2021, masked agitators appeared on the Capitol grounds with weaponry, gas masks, and other expensive gear at about the same time a pipe bomb was discovered in a nearby RNC building. The ensuing chaos of that day was blamed on Donald Trump and his supporters. The violence was called an "insurrection," and was taken so seriously by federal law enforcement, some may still be on the run. But something far more irresponsible, and far more dangerous to Americans took place a couple of weeks later. We can hope the new House will get some answers. While Dems try to blame Trump, they're oddly disinterested in the far more dangerous events set in motion by our current president.
On January 20, 2021, Joe Biden's first day in office, the American people heard him invite illegal aliens from around the world to come to the US "to be heard." His invitation to enter the United States illegally has led to 5 million new illegal alien arrivals so far, already released into our country, with no end in sight. We do not know who these people are, nor do we know the criminal backgrounds of everyone allowed into our country. The same administration and MSM incensed over Americans wandering inside the Capitol building on January 6, (some after being waived in by police) doesn't consider the chaos, crime, drugs and human trafficking Biden's "invitation" has brought into our country to be worth discussing. Which tells us what happens to Americans isn't a cause for concern.

Remember the poison gas let loose in some building for I forget what anrchist reason? Remember Hillary who is still still so help us all saying that the Russians chose the 2016 winner and Trump should be opposed accordingly? And yet they talk about their Respect for the Peaceful Transition of Power. You effing liars.

Ball is in Merrick's court. If he pursues the charges, he will look like a fool based upon the lack of evidence when a fair judge throws it out of court. Not telling his supporters not to riot is not a crime. If he does not prosecute, he will earn the wrath of his party.
