Remember Trump Derangement Syndrome? It's still alive and well. Some people need it like some people use nicotine or other addictions. After reading some of the batches about Twitter dumping the former president, it was obvious that the syndrome was really rocking and rolling over at Twitter’s offices over the last few years. (Snip) Trump the leader of a terrorist group? What about the government of Iran or their explanations of attacks on citizens marching in the streets? The leader of Iran uses his Twitter accounts to promote hate and incite violence

When warning Americans that freedom is in danger if political views that do not agree with theirs are not silenced, both Barack and Michelle Obama love to throw around the term "democracy." The Obama belief that opposing free speech somehow protects "democracy" proves that neither one understands the basic tenet of what they profess needs protecting.
In Obama circles, rebuke, rejection, or refutation does not sit well. These two hypersensitive narcissists thrive on things like public adoration and unswerving agreement.

Can someone hit the brakes? We’re on a runaway train traveling at high speed, approaching a bend, and destined to careen off the tracks unless a brave soul tells the Republican Party to torpedo this heinous immigration deal that’s being mulled up on the Hill.
I never thought I’d see the day when some Republicans would willingly back a mass amnesty bill and be blind to the fact that the only people who gain to benefit from this push, both in the immediate and long term, are Democrats. In the words of Ellen Ripley, “nuke the entire site from orbit” when it comes to this bill

What's comforting about the Twitter Files is the satisfaction of knowing the exact connections between the wokey useful idiots at Twitter and their Deep State masters.
It's easy to think of the social-media big boys as cunning and malevolent monsters, but if they are anything like the world of SBF and FTX, it seems to me that they are shallow fools -- naifs, silly wokey putty in the hands of the regime security police. I just can't take a woman like Vijaya Gadde seriously. Or a man like Yoel Roth.
Maybe that's the point of today's woke education system.

The unabashed political persecution and unconscionable years of pre-trial incarceration for some January 6th protestors in direct violation of the Sixth Amendment. The near-psychotic obsession to indict and convict Donald Trump of any specious federal crime. The admission by the FBI that they instructed social media companies prior to the 2020 election to censor stories unfavorable to Joe Biden. These actions, among many others over the years, have confirmed that the Department of Justice is teeming with politicized prosecutors and a federal police force that is allied with one political party and is browbeating the citizenry on their behalf.

Roger Kimball is editor and publisher of The New Criterion, a periodical devoted to literature and the arts. He is also publisher of Encounter Books and author of many books. The latest is Where Next? Western Civilization at the Crossroads, which appeared for the 40th anniversary of The New Criterion. It includes essays by many prominent writers like Victor Davis Hanson and Anthony Daniels. The essay I summarize and comment on below is Mr. Kimball's essay from that book, with the same title.

In a shocking development, Twitter was censoring conservatives. I am, of course, being sarcastic because everyone knew it, though some denied it. Now we have Twitter itself, under new management, giving a peek into just how deeply the deception ran. Allow me to bring some much-needed salt and reality to this conversation and point out how everyone seems to be missing the point, some deliberately, others not.
First – and again, forgive me – who cares about what we’ve seen released so far? I truly do believe in conservative principles which dictate a private company can do pretty much whatever it wants. They should, however, be honest about it.

Despite the midterm elections loss of four compelling Republican Senate candidates, a handful of persistent, emboldened senators have stepped forward to re-establish their authority, thereby creating the beginning of a paradigm shift in the Senate's balance of power. In addition, on January 3, four new senators, all oriented to America First, will take their seats.
Beginning with the November 16 challenge to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)'s thirty-year reign, ten senators voted to oppose his 2022 reappointment.

Gunrunner, never-charged criminal, political hack, and perpetually aggrieved former attorney general Eric Holder is back, bloviating about President Trump being imminently arrested. Given that we live in post-Republic times and that the Department of (in)Justice has exhibited no shame or remorse in its years-long campaign of political persecution and partisan double-standards, I'll take Obama's contemptible "wingman" at his word just this once. So Democrats, Establishment Republicans, and the Deep State Leviathan plan on humiliating President Trump by frog-marching him before the world and tossing him in the clink

For a genius, Elon Musk sure got it wrong. He fell for the okey-doke. He took seriously what he was told when he arrived in America. That was a grave error because the story he was told – and the story those of us outside the ruling caste are told – is not the same story that the ruling caste tells itself. It should be, but it isn’t. All that stuff about hard work and free speech – that’s great stuff. But the hard truth is that those who would rule us do not believe a word of it.

Congressional lizards posing as "leaders" met with China Joe in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, and the wretched gerontocracy that rules over us looked happy as clams to be reunited after the political theater of the midterms. Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Kevin McCarthy, and Turtle McConnell all sported sly, devilish grins that suggested they got exactly what they wanted in last month's elections.
In undermining MAGA candidates, Turtle's iron-fisted control over his Republican minority remains absolute. Up-Chuck and Child-Sniffer Joe still hold the Senate

Arlington National Cemetery is the latest casualty of woke cancel culture
I recently learned that the “Naming Commission,” initially proposed by Congress in 2021 to strip military bases of Confederate leader names has just made the Arlington National Cemetery the latest casualty of the military’s woke cancel culture.
Although the primary mission of the panel was to wipe references to the Confederacy from the U.S. military, it is now painfully evident the panel of eight did not stop with renaming. Their third and final report issued in September 19, 2022 includes the removal of a 108-year-old Confederate monument from Arlington National Cemetery.
