Disturbing: Canada's Euthanasia 'Slippery

Advocates of physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia often frame their position as driven by compassion and dignity. As the broad-strokes argument goes, people with terrible terminal illnesses -- living in pain, with no cure available -- should not be denied the choice to end their own life, at a time of their own choosing, on their own terms, with the help of a medical practitioner. From a human perspective, though suicide is rightfully an upsetting and disturbing cultural taboo, it is hard not to at least be somewhat sympathetic to these sorts of appeals. My husband and I are in our mid-70's. While we have a couple of medical issues, not uncommon at our age, nothing too severe. I figured out a few years ago, that our parents generation will be the last one to be able to die from natural causes. Our generation and all the ones following will be encouraged and then forced to take something to end our lives because you know that that's what it will eventually come to, forcing people to end their lives. I also predict that, not to far in the future, there will be brave medical personnel who will start 'back-alley' medical clinics to treat the elderly, sick, disabled or others deemed 'unworthy' to live by the standards of the evil lunatics who soon will be in charge of the world.

Last week I think both Tucker and Laura Ingraham played an ad made by Canadian clothing company LaMaison promoting assisted suicide. It features a young woman in a wheelchair. There is so much wrong with the ad, with the entire program. In the morning, a person can confide in a "health care worker" that they are "depressed," and then be dead by the evening of the same day. I can't imagine the impact that this ad could have on the volatile moods and emotions of teenagers. I also read that these death assistants are not required to notify parents, spouses, or other doctors the person may be seeing. The world seems to have gone insane. The war on babies and childhood innocence is accelerating. Now, ads enticing the mentally ill, handicapped, and moody teenagers, without ANY safeguards, is immoral. How are so many people seemingly okay with this? We are next if we are not vigilant. The current state of my country depresses me, but me committing suicide is not the answer. However, the people causing my depression committing suicide might be the answer.

During President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address on January 20, 1961, the new Democrat president famously proclaimed: “Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,” as he challenged all Americans to contribute in some way to the common good of the country. Imagine the consequences if a Democrat running for any office in today’s America were to make that same proclamation. What would we hear — from Democrats themselves? Unhinged charges of racism, white supremacy, attacks on equality, and demands for “racial equity” — and worse — would abound. Hence today’s Democrat Party bears little resemblance to the
Georgia Senate Runoff: Early Vote Favors Walker 29 replies

It’s a tricky business to glean predictive data from early voting in any election. This is particularly true of the Georgia Senate runoff between incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker. Nonetheless, the 1.8 million ballots that were cast through last Friday, when early voting ended, provide some useful information. One datum in particular should encourage the Walker campaign — the number of older voters who cast early ballots swamped their younger counterparts.

The relentless attacks on Elon Musk since he purchased Twitter should be familiar to most Americans. It’s exactly what Democrats and their media and corporate allies did to demonize Donald Trump. The McCarthyite formula is simple: Claim you are defending high-minded principles (Democracy! The rule of law! Civil discourse!) to justify efforts to delegitimize someone you’ve identified as a political opponent. Democrats denied Trump’s presidency from day one; Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden themselves declared for years that he had stolen the 2016 election. In the name of election integrity, Democrats turned a bogus conspiracy theory cooked up by Clinton’s campaign about Russian collusion into years of official investigations that

Since early voting commenced in the Georgia runoff between Democrat Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker, the corporate media has made much of the former’s funding advantage as if this is somehow unusual for an incumbent seeking reelection. Far more newsworthy are the sources of Warnock’s cash. The Federal Election Commission (FEC) shows that Warnock has received individual contributions totaling $65.2 million, of which 88.8 percent came from out-of-state donors.

President Biden's rented Secret Service vehicles burst into flames in a parking lot Monday, just one day after he left his Nantucket vacation. Biden spent Thanksgiving on the ritzy Massachusetts island with his family last week. The Secret Service rented five vehicles from Hertz to carry the president and his family, and all five of them caught fire in the parking lot, according to footage first obtained by the Nantucket Current. Footage shows firefighters spraying down the smoldering remains of one vehicle's engine block. The five vehicles included a Chevy Suburban, Ford Explorer, Infiniti QX80, Ford Expedition, and a Jeep Gladiator.

Did the midterm results give Joe Biden a boost for a re-election bid? The Wall Street Journal’s James Freeman made that case sardonically shortly after the expected red wave made barely a ripple in national results. Initial data from the November 2022 general election indicates more than 25,000 Georgians may have voted illegally in the general election. And the problem appears poised to repeat itself when voters cast their ballots in the state’s runoff election for senator on Dec. 6, 2022. Absent a win by a substantial margin by either Republican challenger Herschel Walker or Democrat incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, litigation, with the potential ordering of a new election, seems likely — a scenario that would have proved disastrous to the country had control of the Senate remained in play. In a complaint filed earlier this month with the Georgia State Board of Elections, Mark Davis,

The AP hasn’t gotten around to correcting its headline over the story reporting the word of the year according to Merriam-Webster. At the moment the headline reads: “What headline? ‘Gaslighting’ Merriam-Webster’s word of 2022.” That “What headline?” can’t be right, can it? This must be the AP’s “Mush from the wimp” moment. Speaking of mush from the wimp, I give the Biden administration credit for the rise of “gaslighting” to prominence in 2022. However, you will find nary a hint of the administration’s possible contribution to its popularity in the AP story. I pride myself in not having used the word so far in 2022. It has become a mind-numbing cliché.

As a tactical concern, the House GOP’s decision to open an investigation into Biden family corruption is questionable. It promises limited political return. It would serve Republicans, and the country, far better if the House focused on a hyper-politicized Justice Department that targets the political opposition, labels concerned parents “domestic terrorists,” and ignores violence aimed at pregnancy centers, for starters. None of that, however, means there isn’t sufficient circumstantial evidence suggesting Joe Biden not only lied about knowing his son was favor-trading on the family name with corrupt autocracies, but that he was a beneficiary of those business dealings. Indeed, precedent says we Republicans have a duty to “democracy” to investigate.

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) won reelection Tuesday, fending off a spirited challenge from Republican Herschel Walker while helping Democrats grow their thin Senate majority in the midterm elections after a bruising four-week runoff campaign. Warnock was leading Walker 50.4% to 49.6% when the race was called, earning the senator his first, full six-year term after ousting an appointed Republican incumbent in a special election runoff nearly two years ago. Walker’s defeat was a major blow to the Republicans. They capped a disappointing midterm election season with yet another loss that effectively surrendered a Senate seat to the Democrats, who saw their majority grow from 50 to 51.

Some New York lawmakers are renewing the push for a state law that would lay the groundwork to pay reparations to black residents whose ancestors were enslaved. Proponents gained steam after a task force in California last week recommended that the Golden State shell out $569 billion in reparations to slaves’ descendents there, or $223,200 apiece, because of lingering housing discrimination practices. A previously proposed New York measure called for creating a commission to study the impact of slavery and providing reparations but failed to pass the legislature. It is now being revised, backers said.

It has already been legalized in California, Colorado, Oregon, Vermont and Washington, with more than 200 Americans opting for the process to date. And the latest eco-craze is surging in popularity with the center pioneering human composting — Recompose — tripling in size in just two years. They now have 1,200 people on the ‘waiting’ list.
