Six Republican candidates lost in the general election on Tuesday after Democrats spent an estimated $40,250,000 boosting them in the GOP primaries.
The Democrats’ primary strategy, which was mocked by many Republicans at the time, turned out to be a successful defense against the Republican Party on Election Day. The strategy took advantage of Republican disunity upon which type of GOP candidate should be supported by the Republican Party in the primary up to the general election. Former President Trump’s waning appeal to moderate voters in battleground races appeared to also be a factor.
Below are race specifics:

Joe Biden has been on an embarrassing tour overseas. First, he went to COP 27 in Egypt and apologized for the U.S. pulling out of the Paris Agreement under President Donald Trump — a good move — that Biden has now rejected. He was howled at by protesters and then lost another fight with his teleprompter during his speech. Then Biden went on to Cambodia, delivered remarks sounding about 100 years old, //snip//Xi stood while making Joe Biden walk to him, Xi didn’t even meet him halfway. And Biden did it with his hand out. That pretty much said it all right there, it cried “weakness” and loss of face.

Police confirmed University of Virginia student shooting suspect Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. is in custody.
Interrupted during an 11 a.m. press conference Monday, UVA Police Chief Timothy J. Longo thanked a captain for notifying him that Jones had been taken into custody somewhere off-campus.
UVA President Jim Ryan had already identified the three deceased victims earlier in the event. They are UVA linebacker D'Sean Perry and UVA wide receivers Lavel Davis Jr. and Devin Chandler.
A source tells Fox News Digital that the other two hospitalized are also UVA football players.

President Biden does not expect to be able to codify Roe v. Wade into law despite Republicans poor performance in the midterms, he said Monday.
Biden made the comments during a press conference following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Bali. Biden had previously vowed to codify Roe after the midterms if Democrats kept control of Congress, but Republicans appear poised to take the House.
"Mr. President, what should Americans expect from Congress as it relates to abortion rights after the midterms?" a reporter shouted.

Amazon plans to lay off about 10,000 employees in what would be the largest reduction in the company's history, according to reports.
The New York Times reported the mass layoffs could begin as soon as this week and will focus on Amazon's devices organization, retail division and human resources, citing people with knowledge of the move who were not authorized to speak publicly.
Amazon did not immediately confirm the layoffs to USA TODAY.
The reported layoffs would affect about 3% of Amazon's corporate employees and less than 1% of its global workforce. The company has more than 1.5 million workers worldwide.

At this point, we at RedState (and many, many other outlets) have spilled all sorts of digital ink on the state of the national GOP leadership and all the faults and flaws they have. Mitch McConnell’s lack of agenda and the way his Senate Leadership Fund spent money. Rick Scott’s NRSC and their money and strategy problems. Trump’s involvement, choice of candidates, and lack of spending.
The quality of candidates overall.
It’s all a series of negatives that have absolutely hurt the Republican Party’s chances of taking the Senate and will make their possible majority in the House way more narrow than originally hoped for. And

With the Senate officially back in Democratic Party hands and major governorships lost, Republicans could use some good news. The election has been an unmitigated disaster, with one of the best electoral environments in decades being blown in spectacular fashion. But, while dooming is more than warranted, I can finally bring some merciful good news regarding the House of Representatives. Nothing is official yet, but three major signs on Sunday evening, including a call after a ballot dump in Arizona, appear to make a GOP victory in the House inevitable. The three seats mentioned above were absolutely crucial for Democrat chances of retaining the House.

Lost in the election chaos of the past week was the news that Bidenflation is still chugging along. Inflation came in lower than forecasted for October even though housing, food, and energy prices remained significant contributors to rising consumer prices. Since the 1970s, economists have used the most recently updated Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) data to quantify the country’s economic health. To do so, they add the current U.S. unemployment rate, which ticked up to 3.7%, to October’s better-than-expected rate of U.S. inflation, which now stands at 7.75%. Originally coined as “the discomfort index” by intellectual powerhouse and

I’ve seen a lot of rationales being tossed around for why the Republicans didn’t win more despite what all the polls and data points suggested.
I must confess, I’m not particularly satisfied with any of the answers I’ve seen. Yes, could some candidates have been better? No doubt. But Democrats got John Fetterman in and even voted for a dead man. So let’s not even pretend the quality of the candidate or even being alive truly matters. If you voted in Fetterman, it’s all based on wanting power for your party, no matter what.

I wrote earlier about the dustup between Sen. Ed Markey (D-WA) and Elon Musk but there are a few more points that I wanted to hit on.
Markey blamed Musk for a Washington Post reporter impersonating Markey with a fake account with a blue check mark. Now, I wrote about some of the confusion created by the Twitter Blue subscription, by people getting blue checks by paying for the service. Yes, that created some questions and Musk suspended the service to work out the kinks and reports are that it will likely be coming back next week.
While Markey wanted to blame the impersonation on Musk,

President Joe Biden on Sunday morning welcomed holding on to the Senate but said he was now focused on the final race in Georgia, in the hopes that Democrats could win one more seat and extend their power.
'It's always better at 51 because we're in a situation where you don't have to have an even makeup of the committees,' he told DailyMail.com. 'And so that's why it's important mostly. 'But it's just simply better. The bigger the number, the better.' Biden took time out from international diplomacy to talk to reporters about domestic politics at his luxury hotel in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

White House adviser Anita Dunn appeared on some Sunday morning political shows to tout the success of Democrats in the midterm elections. Her message was that because the Democrats have majority control of the Senate after the results of the race in Nevada were called yesterday, control of the senate is “hugely consequential” for Biden’s success in the coming two years.
“He believes that at the end of the day, there are going to be things that Republicans and Democrats can work on together as they did over the last two years,” Dunn said in an interview with “Face the Nation,” referring to the president. “Control of the Senate is hugely
