A Republican could replace liberal Gov. Kate Brown (D-OR), as University of Virginia Center for Politics Sabato’s Crystal Ball has moved the race from “Lean Democratic” to “Toss-Up.” Former Democratic state House Speaker Tina Kotek is running against former Republican State House Minority Leader Christine Drazan, who announced a seven-figure ad buy on Wednesday, Fox News reported. There is also a strong independent candidate, former Democratic state Sen. Betsy Johnson, who the University of Virginia Center for Politics describes as “more conservative” than many of her former party members.

Following the FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, he has received millions of dollars from his supporters. Trump has been sending out emails, capitalizing on the FBI raid by asking supporters to donate to his political action committee. According to the Washington Post, following the FBI raid, the donations to Trump’s action committee surpassed $1 million on at least two days.
Eric Wilson, a Republican strategist, said:
“If you’re not talking about Mar-a-Lago in your fundraising you’re swimming against the current … For Trump, it’s been difficult for the last several months because he has not been in the spotlight so much

Dr. Mehmet Oz, who earned former President Donald Trump’s primary-race endorsement in April, is going down in flames according to a new GOP poll.
Republican-affiliated Public Opinion Strategies reports that surgeon-turned-TV-host Dr. Oz trails Democrat John Fetterman by nearly 20 points. Trump gave Oz his “complete and total endorsement” before the wide-open GOP primary of six candidates, a move that probably sealed the deal with Pennsylvania Republicans.
The doc won in a squeaker, barely beating out second-place finisher David McCormick, 31.2% to 31.1%.
The former president praised Oz’s positions on abortion, crime, the Second Amendment, border security, the military, education, energy independence

Enthusiasm for voting in this year’s midterm election has grown by six points after the FBI raided the Mar-a-Lago, the home of former President Donald Trump, according to two recent YouGov polls.
When 1500 adult U.S. citizens were asked from August 13 to 16 if they were more or less enthusiastic about voting in this year’s election compared to the previous congressional election year, 51 percent of Republicans said they were more enthusiastic. This is an increase of six points in enthusiasm since the YouGov poll from August 7 to 9. The August 7 to 9 poll showed only 45 percent were more enthusiastic about voting in this year’s election than in the previous congressional election year.

The Aug. 8 search of former President Donald Trump’s home and the unprecedented criminal investigation into his possession of White House documents all began with David Ferriero, the now-retired national archivist who alerted the Justice Department after finding classified information in boxes he retrieved from Mar-a-Lago.
Critics say Mr. Ferriero is a partisan who changed the rules to help excuse Secretary of State Hillary Clinton when she was under scrutiny for mishandling classified documents on her private, unsecured email server.
They also say the raid and criminal probe are just another politically motivated scheme to take down Mr. Trump, who remains popular among many voters and is

Today CDC Director Rochelle Walensky released a video to the agency’s 11,000 employees that was sharply critical of CDC’s covid performance:
Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Wednesday delivered a sweeping rebuke of her agency’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying it had failed to respond quickly enough and needed to be overhauled.
“To be frank, we are responsible for some pretty dramatic, pretty public mistakes, from testing to data to communications,” she said in a video distributed to the agency’s roughly 11,000 employees.
Dr. Walensky said the C.D.C.’s future depended on whether it could absorb the lessons of the last few years,

Democratic consultant and political commentator James Carville said in an interview with The Hill TV that the “majority” of Republican voters are “stupid” and “evil.”
Discussing the brand of the Democratic Party, Carville said, “So much of what has happened to my party is we tend to get defined by some over-educated, totally doofus coastal elites that are out trying to write dictionaries or something unrelated to anybody’s life. And that kind of stuff has a tendency to be very sticky, to stick with people. It is not who the party is. They are a very small part of the Democratic Party.” He continued, “These people have the ability to irritate.

The Daily Wire, the conservative media outlet founded by Ben Shapiro, has hired a Disney veteran to help grow its subscription streaming business.
The company has tapped Eric Caballero as its new CMO, overseeing all marketing for the company, particularly as it continues to invest in the entertainment business, arguing that legacy companies like Disney have abandoned their family-friendly roots. Caballero most recently worked as a vice president in Disney’s media and entertainment distribution group. Among other projects, Caballero will lead marketing for The Daily Wire+, the company’s streaming platform. While it includes politically focused content from The Daily Wire as well as some other conservative programming, the company is

As we reported, Attorney General Merrick Garland moved to block the unsealing of the affidavit which would reveal the reasons for the FBI raid on President Donald Trump’s home. The claim was that they didn’t want the release to prejudice the investigation. But even if they wanted to preserve the investigation, they could still redact parts and/or Garland could just give the rationale for the raid without revealing the rest of the investigation. That is, if he cared about transparency and wanted to reassure the public that this wasn’t all political. But he hasn’t done that. While Garland is trying to keep the affidavit under wraps, we’re seeing “leaks”

The era of Donald Trump has brought a great many changes to the political world since 2016, and the year 2023 will be no different – the dynasties of Bush, Cheney, McCain, and Clinton will hold no quarter in either statewide or national office.
With the defeat of Liz Cheney in the Wyoming Republican congressional primary on Tuesday, the franchise dynasties that have dominated the U.S. political landscape going all the way back to the 1970s came to a crashing halt. Whether or not the Republican Party takes control of Congress in November’s mid-term election, come January 23, there will be no politician by name of Bush, Cheney, McCain, or Clinton

Donald Trump may be dealing with a federal criminal investigation following the FBI’s unprecedented raid of his home, but he’s still out there having fun. Say what you will about the guy, but what’s undeniable is that he’s hilarious. That was on display on Wednesday when Trump started endorsing…Democrats? Trump also endorsed @CarolynBMaloney this evening… If you don’t know who Daniel Goldman is, he’s the ridiculous hack lawyer that Adam Schiff tapped for Trump’s first impeachment. He’s since become an online personality and has done his share of cable news hits. Trump endorsed him, though, stating “while it was my honor to beat him, and beat him badly, Dan Goldman has

The same Florida magistrate who approved the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home will decide on Thursday if we can see why he approved it. We’d like to check his work, you understand. Because it looks like the FBI is up to its old tricks again. Indeed, the FBI’s supposed “leaker” who complained about Trump’s document cache seems to have obliterated the excuses we’ve heard for the raid and laid bare the sole reason behind it: get Trump. News organizations and Judicial Watch want to see the affidavit which supports the raid — the raid that was so, so emergent that the DOJ waited weeks to ask for the search warrant,
