Sen. Joe Manchin III has once again changed his position on a budget reconciliation package, announcing Wednesday that he and Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer have agreed to legislation that would include climate and tax provisions that two weeks ago he was not ready to support.
The duo said in a joint statement that they'd "finalized legislative text" that would lower deficits by $300 billion over a decade, devote $369.8 billion to clean energy and climate change programs and extend expanded subsidies to purchase health insurance on the 2010 health care law's exchanges for three years.
The measure would preserve the prescription drug pricing deal Manchin and Schumer had previously

I once heard, but can't confirm, that Charles DeGaulle said something like - the problem with Frenchmen is that at the end of the day they are French
At the end of the day Manchin is a dim.

Mitch "MultiUseless" McConnell will probably be busy writing a stern letter after he decides next week's lunch menu. Could be awhile.

They DON'T care about anything anymore. Win or lose (If they just don't blatantly cheat and dare you to do anything about it) they are just raiding the spoils as fast as they can and damn the country. Everyone thinks they're going to beat history and ride out the whirlwind.......

Good news! The bill calls for the presentation of scientifically-gathered, statistically-significant data to justify the notion of man-made climate change - - before any funds can be allocated.
Yes - - it does - - it does - - - - - - doesn't it?

Crank up the Monopoly money printing presses. While the money that is printed and pased out is play money the additional inflation it will cause is real pain. I agree we might not be in a recession, at least not for long, as a depression is on the horizon. Joe, I was hoping so much more common sense from you. Wrong again. FJB

Reducing a projected deficit but still budgeting in deficit spending is typical politician double speak regardless of the party in charge.

No "climate" money funds to anyone who has donated to a "YES" vote for this boondoggle.

So Joe, you showed your true colors, after all that false bravado you put forth during the Build Back Better stuff, it was all just an attention getting act. I would guess the people in VA feel betrayed, as they should. I hope you go down in flames, because you have crushed all the hope and trust that was given to you. FJM

When Dems say something will lower the deficit, they aren't saying it will actually become smaller, but that it won't grow as quickly as they wish they could get away with. (And when they say something will give us more freedom, they really just mean it will make us slaves more gradually than they would like.)

Oh, goodness..."The package is estimated to raise more than enough money to pay for that spending." And how one might ask..."by closing tax loopholes on wealthy individuals and corporations." Sure, right...more free sh-tuff for the masses.

I don’t know how many times I have posted but Manchin is a dependable Rat. You cannot trust this soft spoken Rat. He will always wiggle and squirm but in the end he is a die hard Rat.

Lies, lies, lies! The government never lowers deficits. That's why there is a $30,000,000,000,000 deficit from direct borrowing and over $200,000,000,000,000 in unfunded mandates.

If I were a Dem senator, I would be angered by the fact that Schumer is taking my vote for granted, all the while courting Manchin and what he wants. I would be tempted to threaten to vote no unless Chuch showed up at my door with a basket of muffins and a few million dollars for my state.

Really? And Mrs. Clinger and I reached an agreement around our breakfast table this morning to extend the special powers we authorized allowing gravity to continue. We argued a but on trying to arrange for personal exemptions but in the end we made the deal for the collective good.
