Marie Antoinette, the beheaded wife of the beheaded French Bourbon King Charles Louis XVI, did not really say “Let them cake.”
But in the short time that the French Revolution became utterly unhinged, toxic, and nihilistic, she became nonetheless iconic as an out-of-touch elite who had lived in a make-believe world at Versailles, without a clue (or care?) about the ordeal of the masses.
Rather than worry about the drudgery of the French peasant, Marie dressed up as one. And she roamed about in her idyllic faux peasant “farm” at the Hameau de la Reine, near the palace at Versailles.
Apparently, during these brief rustic interludes, Marie felt

It won't be too long before American peasants get out the pitchforks and pikes not unlike the women of Paris at the start of the revolution.

Well said Victor Davis Hanson. Conditions will get worse. Hopefully at some point they will get better. I fear that will only happen at great cost. The parasitic class is quite strong currently.

The Founders put the 2nd Amend in because they understood Human Nature.
So to dem I say Madame Guillotine is not your concern.

In actuality, Marie Antoinette and her husband were completely innocent of the charges hurled at them by the scum of the revolution. I realize she often becomes a convenient historical reference for analogy, but it would be best to put the Bidets into the same category as the super-grifter Clintons.

Eventually these "new Antoinettes" deserve to get the same treatment that the old Antointette got.
Sooner is better.

Marie ultimately lost her head in more ways than one. The modern Marie's are just as dangerous as she was. They are part of the new Liberal World Order seeking to control lives from pre-birth to post-death. In Sri Lanka they ran their Maries out of the country. So beware our Maries.

After Louis and Marie Antoinette were taken prisoner and the National Assembly was taken over by the revolutionaries many towns and cities across the country became vortexes of murderous nihilism. The American Revolution stood in contrast to the senseless slaughter even of innocents that happened in France because the leadership were experienced, moral and God-fearing. Today, the occupiers of Portland, the demonstrators of Ferguson or the rioters of Kenosha want to assume power as badly as Conservatives do and, because they are, ironically, funded by the elites, they have great power. And, much like the French revolutionaries, they are godless and they are psychotic in their rage. If you haven’t read “Reflections on the Revolution in France” by Edmund Burke (Irish MP and the father of modern conservatism) it is worth a read. The parallels to today are striking and Burke, always brilliant, was prescient as his reflections were written before the French Revolution really got going.

Mainstream Americans are a righteous, law abiding people. But we are at or beyond the limits of our patience. We will first use a bucket of tar and a brush. Then a pitchfork. And if they (that includes both embedded parties) still don't get it, it will be a long rope and a lamp post.

Robespierre headed up The Committee of Public Safety which decided who was to be executed. It went on for nearly two year and known as the " reign of terror " . Aristocrats as well as their servants were executed. It ended with the beheading of Robespierre. The very person who was the most vicious.

To use VDH's language...there are two parallel "peasantries" in modern America. The struggling, god-fearing "deplorable" peasantry and the Antifa, BLM, left-wing "peasantry". One group wants to institute change peacefully through the lawful election of candidates who reflect their values. The other, knowingly or unknowingly backed by the modern Antoinettes, want to use violence, force and intimidation (cancel culture) to institute change. These two groups cannot stay on a paralle track, they are going to intersect at some point (like in Kenosha) and when they do, it is not going to end well. The biggest disappointment in this whole sordid mess has been to see how many of America's once-reputable businesses fell in line with bloodthirsty cancel-culture peasantry who are animated by the marxist media and the ruling class.

Once again, VDH hits it out of the park. The latest example is Dr. Jill, who mispronounced bodegas and referred to Houstonites as 'breakfast tacos', and the Hispanics of Miami as 'blossoms.' She was trying to virtue signal how diverse Hispanics are. The elites may have the upper hand with the dominion machines, but they will never have our compliance. Never.

They're starting to expose themselves, we just need the rest of America to recognize reality. And we need the Republicans to show a spine.

It's almost fun watching the elite class dance as fast as they can...explaining that WE the people will have to suffer..."as long as it takes"...while they fly off to their estates and vacation in Italy....at some point...there will be no money available for the zuckiebergs in this country...probably why he bought an island surrounded by safe/guarded water...like king barrack building his fort in Hawaii...just in case Martha's Vineyard gets over/run by peasants...

FTA: As a result, voters have concluded that the Left “just doesn’t care.”
The "Right" cares more? Seriously? The border shambles is a good bi-partisan/non-partisan example of neither side "caring" except to give the boobs something to look at or whine about. In '16 the Republicans had the White House and Congress...where's that wall? Although lessened, the flow of aliens illegally across our borders continued. Meanwhile the Left cared enough to provide transportation and housing for these border jumpers. The truth is neither side "cares" a whit. Their caring noise all that matters to the public.

Thanks for the interesting post, #8, your reasoning makes sense. I've always thought that there were two other factors that kept the American Revolution from descending into madness: a stable American middle class and 150 years' experience in self-government.

"Things are never so bad that they cannot get worse." Mary Hartman's mother from "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman".
The out-of-touch aristocracy has become so much a caricature of a caricature that Nancy Pelosi is making Marie Antoinette a sympathetic character. The old aristocrats of Europe can almost be excused because they lived in a civilization that had developed over centuries out of once barbaric tribes. Today's criminal class have no such excuse, for they had the benefit of two thousand years of great philosophers and thinkers to guide them. They chose the path of Satan instead.
This time around the peasants have known prosperity and independence. They are not going to let their life's work vanish before their eyes without a fight. I think the lockdown is going to come back and bite the elites. They may think it was a training session and they can pull off another one when things get dicey for them. If they do, I think no one will go along with it. In fact, I think it will inflame the situation. Bastille Day is Thursday, July 14th. Just sayin'.
This time the revolution is being broadcast live across the world.
