“But that’s not what’s worrying me. It’s how to do it. These things must be done delicately… …or you hurt the spell.”
—Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz
The bad witch has a point. An incumbent president’s own party dumping him without taking the party to rack and ruin would be unprecedented and would require an extraordinarily light touch. It goes without saying that it has to look like leaving was the president’s idea or else his partisans — and Biden has more than a few — would scream bloody murder and rip the party to shreds.
Yet there is a consensus

Richard Haass, the president of the Council on Foreign Relations, told 'Morning Joe' on Wednesday that Liz Cheney Republicanism is conservative: "What we see today is that Republicans have ceased to be conservatives, and modern day Republicanism has become radicalism. It's become populist. (snip) That, to me, is obviously an unbelievably dangerous departure.
(snip) Can we basically get to a point where Liz Cheney Republicanism, which by the way is extremely conservative in her policies, whether we can get back to the point that regains control of the Republican party?

Democrats are doing all they can to distract from the horrible inflation which just hit new heights of bad. Their hope was the Jan. 6 Committee. But that isn’t going over so well. Now, we know we’ve had a lot of Jan. 6 coverage, but before I head off for more salient things, I couldn’t help but comment on the reaction of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Delusional-NY).
AOC was teary, saying on Instagram she was “so angry” having to “relive that footage.” Her Instagram post said, “I’m shaking all over again.” “We were trapped on the campus with no way out.”
“On a personal level, I wasn’t expecting it to feel like this,”

The Biden administration is planning to push a policy that would require tobacco companies to reduce the level of nicotine in cigarettes sold in the U.S. The policy would see the amount of nicotine reduced to 'nonaddictive levels'.Although it would likely not come into force for several years, the move would likely disrupt the entire tobacco industry.Smokers needn't be too concerned in the short terms with a number of hurdles still to be passed.

VERNON, Calif. -- Meat-packing giant Smithfield Foods said Friday it will close its only California plant next year, citing the escalating cost of doing business in the state. The Farmer John meat-packing plant in Vernon, an industrial suburb south of Los Angeles, will shut down in February, with its 1,800 employees receiving severance and job placement support along with bonuses for those who choose to stay on the job until the closure, said Jim Monroe, vice president of corporate affairs. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) bragged about her efforts to block legislation that would increase security for Supreme Court justices shortly after authorities foiled an alleged assassination attempt against Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Ocasio-Cortez posted a video to her Instagram Stories on Thursday in which she claims to walk to the floor of the House of Representatives to object to unanimous consent for legislation, Newsweek reported.
The progressive “Squad” member said in the video that Thursday was a “fly out day” when many members of Congress left Washington, D.C., for their home districts.

Despite being an advocate of “civility,” “decency,” and “unity” in the past, Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa.) has apparently been so radicalized by her caucus that she now says the Republican Party is “diseased” and must be “cleansed.”
“This is, in my opinion, a diseased Republican Party. And it needs to be cured and cleansed,” Houlahan said on the Daily Beast‘s The New Abnormal podcast last month. “So the stakes of having a Republican, as an example, in my seat are more than just policy differences. They are democracy, in my opinion.”
The GOP is “diseased” and must be “cleansed?” Where have you heard such rhetoric before? It bears a shocking

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden told television host Jimmy Kimmel in an interview that he is considering signing an executive order to protect abortion in the event the United States Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. This comes after a leaked draft opinion from the Court case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization showed the Justices poised to overturn Roe.
“I think if the Court overrules Roe v. Wade and does what its draft –”
“Well, we fear they will,” Kimmel interjected.
“Well, if that occurs, I think we have to, we have to legislate it. We have to make sure we pass legislation making it a law, that is,

A senior software engineer at Google who signed up to test Google's artificial intelligence tool called LaMDA (Language Model for Dialog Applications), has claimed that the AI robot is in fact sentient and has thoughts and feelings.During a series of conversations with LaMDA, 41-year-old Blake Lemoine presented the computer with various of scenarios through which analyses could be made. They included religious themes and whether the artificial intelligence could be goaded into using discriminatory or hateful speech. Lemoine came away with the perception that LaMDA was indeed sentient and was endowed with sensations and thoughts all of its own.

Ex-Fox News personality-turned-NewsNation political editor and Fox critic Chris Stirewalt broke news when he told anchor Adrienne Bankert that he’s been called to testify before the Jan. 6 committee on Monday. Stirewalt has become a frequent and vociferous critic of his former employer and its handling of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, and now he’ll take the witness chair at the bombshell hearings investigating that attack. On Friday morning’s edition of NewsNation’s Morning In America with Adrienne, Bankert asked for Stirewalt’s take on Thursday night’s hearing but got a big scoop instead. “I should first disclose, I should
