Soaring numbers of wealthy Americans are buying 'golden passports' that grant them citizenship to New Zealand, Portugal and other 'safe' countries over fears of impending civil war in their home country. Henley & Partners, a firm that helps the wealthy shop around for citizenship across the globe, said sales to American nationals worth between $50 million and $20 billion have shot up more than 337 percent since 2019, Business Insider reported.
Countries involved—including Portugal, Malta, New Zealand and Austria offer citizenship or visas that lead to citizenship in return for heavy investment in the host national, and a visit of just a few days there each year.

Belfast, Northern Ireland—The Irish nationalist party Sinn Fein, which seeks unification with Ireland, hailed a “new era” Saturday for Northern Ireland as it captured the largest number of seats in the Northern Ireland Assembly for the first time in a historic win.

An “inflammatory” children’s book being distributed to New York City schools teaches kids as young as 2 that the concept of race was created by white people who claimed they were “better, smarter, prettier, and that they deserve more than everybody else.” The book “Our Skin” was penned by Harlem activist Megan Madison and Brooklynite and library worker Jessica Ralli, and published last year. It begins with a simple discussion of skin tones — then launches into a screed that blames the idea of race on white people along with an illustration of scary-looking human skulls encased in glass and sitting on shelves.“A long time ago,

Friday morning, Rich Strike wasn't entered in the Kentucky Derby. Saturday evening, the 80-1 long shot was a Derby champion.
The 148th Kentucky Derby went off under gray skies on a track that wasn't nearly as soaked as conditions had forecast, and for almost all of the race, the favorites ran as predicted. But in the final few paces of the race, Rich Strike cut to the inside to beat two favorites, Zandon and Epicenter, to win the race. Rich Strike, entered only when Ethereal Road scratched out Friday morning, is one of the longest-odds horses ever to win the race. Epicenter placed second, and Zandon finished third.

Ultimately, he’s going to add more people, to the company, mostly engineering people over three years. Musk has previously said that he intends to cut the salaries of the Twitter board, which would save another $3 million.

Elon Musk cast Twitter’s future into uncertainty when he made a successful $44 billion bid to acquire the company last month. He will take over as temporary CEO once the deal is complete, CNBC reported Thursday morning.
While countless Musk fans, and a slight majority of Americans—59%—approve of the takeover according to recent data from The Harris Poll, some current Twitter staff worry that it will dramatically change the company’s culture, and overall direction.
It’s still unclear how a Musk-run Twitter might impact the company’s ability to retain current staff and recruit new employees.

The inconvenient truth is that even at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, a very simple, inexpensive and effective treatment was available that could have saved the majority of lives lost (1-3). All that the WHO and public health bureaucracy had to do was to recommend and support people taking sufficient Vitamin D3. This failure to act traces back to the unscientific bias and pro-vaccine obsession of Dr. Anthony Fauci. And once again the legacy media, while being paid by the US government and the pharmaceutical industry to promote vaccination, acted by censoring, defaming and suppressing the ability of physicians to inform people of scientific truth.

Day by day, it seems that the ruling class and their media mouthpiece are dedicated to one principle: find problems where none exist and ignore real problems that are in desperate need of attention.
Consider the words of U.S. President Joe Biden, spoken during Eid al-Fitr with Muslims at the White House on May 2. He said:

One of the more ingenious aspects of our Constitution is its requirement that our military leaders are accountable to non-military officials. All our generals and admirals ultimately report to the Secretary of Defense and his underlings at the Pentagon who are part of the Executive Branch of government. Our Legislative Branch of government, aka Congress, is responsible for, among other things, funding and monitoring the Executive Branch, aka the White House, which is why we have committees such as the Senate Armed Services Committee.

As a longtime teacher, I have seen firsthand that education is a fad-filled field. Culturally responsive education, inventive spelling, new math, experiential learning, balanced literacy, etc. are educational styles that have come and gone and come and gone and . . .
One of the more enduring educational whims is Social Emotional Learning (SEL) which took off in the 1990s when the Collaborative to Advance Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) came into being, and hosted a conference with researchers, educators, child advocates, and others in the field.

Fear is spreading across Eastern Europe that Russian president Vladimir Putin will extend his invasion of Ukraine into Moldova. Like Ukraine, Moldova is a previous state of the Soviet Union that is not a part of NATO. Moldova and Ukraine share a border with Transnistria, Moldovan territory in which Russian-backed separatists hold power. The international community does not consider Transnistria an independent state.
On April 25, explosions were reported in Transnistria. Transinstrian officials in the capital of Tiraspol claimed that the attack was directed at the state's security headquarters and radio stations used to broadcast Russian transmissions.

If you’ve been on social media at all this week, you’ve probably been amused by some of the unhinged reactions from the left to the leaked draft majority opinion of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. They were full of apocalyptic predictions by people who don’t understand what overturning Roe v. Wade would actually do. Be that as it may, it is widely believed that the draft opinion was leaked in order to allow for a pressure campaign to take place in the hopes that some justices could be swayed before the final opinion is released.
Some on the left have come up with creative ways

May 6 (Reuters) - California energy officials on Friday issued a sober forecast for the state's electrical grid, saying it lacks sufficient capacity to keep the lights on this summer and beyond if heatwaves, wildfires or other extreme events take their toll.
The update from leaders from three state agencies and the office of Governor Gavin Newsom comes in response to a string of challenges with the ambitious transition away from fossil fuels, including rolling blackouts during a summer heat wave in 2020. California has among the most aggressive climate change policies in the world, including a goal of producing all

Elon Musk’s Tesla is covering travel costs for employees who get out-of-state abortions, joining the ranks of several other companies that have introduced similar reimbursement policies in the wake of multiple states passing pro-life legislation.
Since 2021, Tesla has expanded its “Safety Net” program and health insurance offering to include “travel and lodging support for those who may need to seek healthcare services that are unavailable in their home state,” according to the company’s “Impact Report,” released Friday. The electric car maker officially moved its corporate headquarters from California to Texas last year.

Elon Musk is planning to fire 1,000 staffers at Twitter as soon as his purchase of the social media platform is complete. It's believed he will fire many of the firm's woke staff following the transfer of ownership which will take around six months, after which Musk is likely to wield the ax. But then within the next three years, Musk anticipates making thousands of new hires, swelling the ranks to around 11,000 employees, up from 7,500 currently.Much of the new talent is likely to be in the field of engineering.

A bipartisan supermajority in Congress voted on Thursday night to require that any nuclear agreement with Iran must also address Iran’s support for terrorism in the region, and that the U.S. should not lift sanctions on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The non-binding resolution also stated that the administration should address Iran’s illegal ballistic missile program and China’s continuing purchases of Iranian oil that evade U.S. sanctions.

To hear Democrats today, outrage over the possible overturning of Roe v. Wade will cause a blue wave this November. It’s an amusing theory that doesn’t quite hold up under scrutiny. Even Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) pointed out earlier this week that abortion is by no means the number one issue in his state. “Inflation is the number one driving factor I believe in my state. Right now, it’s hurting everybody, not just at the pump, but at the grocery store, at the drug store, at the pharmaceutical. Everything they do,” he explained. Joe Biden’s cheerleaders at CNN seem to agree. On Thursday, the left-wing network acknowledged

Since its inception, the Black Lives Matter movement has been little more than a charade. The group’s name is itself discriminatory, but not overly provocative. (snip)
While much has been said in opposition to BLM, and their own corruption and duplicity have resulted in a dramatic crash in public opinion for the group, seldom has any been so effective and clever in dismantling their arguments as what we see in this video of a man with a bullhorn addressing a group of protesters at a health care facility:

Former President Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani has decided not to participate in a scheduled interview Friday with the House's Jan. 6 committee over an apparent disagreement on whether he could record it. "Mr. Giuliani had agreed to participate in a transcribed interview with the select committee. Today, he informed committee investigators that he wouldn’t show up unless he was permitted to record the interview, which was never an agreed-upon condition," committee spokesman Tim Mulvey said Thursday.Giuliani helped lead efforts to audits vote tallies and recount votes after Trump lost in his 2020 reelection bid and is apparently being tied to allegations that Trump and members of his inner circle

President Joe Biden once again started yelling and rambling about the future of democracy, misstating one of his favorite talking points about democracies backsliding around the world.“Well guess what? In the last ten years there’s fifteen fewer democracies in the world,” Biden said, before raising his voice. “Fewer. Not More, FEWER!” (Tweet/Video) The president spoke about Democracy during an event in Ohio to promote the economy.Biden frequently expresses his concern about democracy backsliding, citing a Freedom House study that shows fewer democracies than 15 years ago.“And as Freedom House will tell you, we have fewer democracies today than we did 15 years ago. Democracies are actually receding,” he said

Texas Republican Rep. Troy Nehls says a forthcoming Inspector General report will show he was "under criminal investigation" when Capitol Police officers entered his Capitol Hill office and began taking photos in November 2021.
In February, Nehls publicly disclosed that Capitol Police had told him he was not the subject (of) an investigation after the Nov. 20 and 22 incidents in which officers enter(ed) his office. President Biden on Friday told a story involving an Amtrak conductor who supposedly grabbed his cheeks and shouted “Joey, baby!”—despite facts contradicting the tale, which Biden has told on at least six prior occasions as president. The amusing anecdote—in which Biden apes former Amtrak conductor Angelo Negri’s Italian-American accent —was declared “False” last year by CNN “Facts First” journalist Daniel Dale. In some tellings, the encounter happened at the end of Biden’s eight years as vice president after he crossed 1 million miles on Air Force Two. But that version is impossible because Negri, who retired in 1992, died in May 2014.

Donald Trump said at a Pennsylvania rally Friday that one of the highest priorities in getting Republicans elected to Congress is to now dissolve President Joe Biden's new Disinformation Governance Board.
'One of our highest priorities will be to cut down on left-wing censorship and restore free speech in America,' Trump said during a rainy, chilly and extremely muddy rally in Greensburg, Pennsylvania endorsing Dr. Mehmet Oz for U.S. Senate. 'We don't have free speech.''We don't have free speech and we have a totally crooked press, all of them back there,' Trump said, pointing to the cameras and press documenting his latest rally.

Friday, the US Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals handed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis a huge victory in the struggle to return sanity and the rule of law to Florida’s elections.
To set the stage, in May 2021, the Florida legislature, as is its right under the US Constitution, passed a sweeping overhaul of Florida’s election laws. (snip) Chief U.S. District Judge Mark Walker, in a blistering 288-page decision, said the law placed restrictions on voters that were unconstitutional and discriminated against minority citizens. (snip) Governor Ron DeSantis declared the state would appeal the ruling to the Eleventh Circuit, and that opinion was handed down today. Florida prevailed on all the issues,

A giant superyacht said to be owned by Vladimir Putin was last night set to be seized by Italian authorities after they recommended it be impounded as part of sanctions against Russia.Authorities in Italy said the $700 million The Scheherazade, which is more than 450ft long, and boasts spas, swimming pools and two helicopter pads was connected to a 'significant person' but did not name them. The yacht has been the subject of an investigation by the Italian financial police since the end of March and has been in dock at Marina di Carrara near Pisa since September undergoing a refit.
