It’s not an interesting topic in itself, but it is to the extent that it tells us a lot about the corruption of our system. (snip)can America really afford to be run like this? (snip)The reality is, however, that the solution to the student loan problem is staring us in the face, and it would solve a number of societal problems. Karl Denninger outlines it—in some detail, if you follow the link—but others like Will Chamberlain have been advocating similar ideas for a long time, too. The language of grooming points toward the solution. In simple terms: (Snip)Make the colleges forgive the student loans.

Harvard has $50billion in its “endowment fund”. Wauck develops the proposal of the colleges’ doing the refunding. Makes a lot of sense.

Having gone back to get my teaching certificate later in life, I spent time with a lot of students spending that "student loan" money like drunken sailors--trips to Vegas, etc. They want to use my tax dollars (or print more fiat money) to clear those debts, let those students believe they should get stuff for free? How is this good for America? Get the US government out of the student loan business. There is absolutely no Constitutional basis for it.

Good luck on getting the colleges to refund anything. Higher education has charged outrageous prices because they could. They aren't going to give any of it back or cut the salaries of their faculty or administrators.

1.Whoa! The students are going to be paying their loans off in inflated dollars. As with home mortgages and other fixed dollar investments, inflation helps the debtor and punishes the lender. This is especially true of long-term debts like mortgages and student loans. If the loan proceeds are invested in something of inherent value, the borrower is beating the system. 2. For degrees that actually impart employable skills, such as STEM, Medical/Dental, Law rather than just "credentials", such as education degrees, the degree is only useful for getting the first job, admission to higher education, or sitting for professional exams. Once that barrier is passed, the university's "withdrawal" of the degree from those who default would be a possible embarrassment, but not a major handicap. They can't withdraw the skill or knowledge gained! Advancement in the profession depends on that, rather than the credential awarded. If you earned a higher degree from a different university, you could default on your undergraduate debt. 3. Sure, Harvard has a big endowment, but many worthy institutions, such as state universities do not. To keep them open, state legislatures would have to appropriate tax funds. 4. Agreed, many students are currently going to college when they would be better off spending their time elsewhere. We need to cut the "educationist" propaganda that persuades students (and parents) that a degree in "anything" is the key to a better life. Maybe we could demand employment and income statistics on their graduates in the various majors as part of the accreditation process? Overall statistics, lumping STEM, etc. graduates with the social science and liberal arts (many of whom end up in "retail sales"), hides what they need to know!

Let’s not forget that private lenders make the loans and the government guarantees them. The typical model. I’m pretty sure. So no doubt these lenders will stack on the delinquent interest rates and delinquency fees for a windfall. But absolutely the universities should be responsible for their product’s quality. And should pay for providing a poor product.

Students made the debt, they should have to pay it. Period. Maybe next time they will give signing up for something like that a little more thought. No lessons learned if everything is taken care of.

This is a trial balloon for repudiation of the national debt. It is not "loan forgiveness" as much as it is debt transfer from deadbeats to taxpayers, who in turn should refuse to p[ay it.

For every student who got their student loans forgiven, reduce their credit ratings to zero. Let it reflect their irresponsible and poor life skill in finance. A life of cash payments until they show signs of financial responsibility will benefit them socially and economically.

The grassroots muscle displayed by supporters of former president Donald Trump last weekend shocked the traditional Michigan Republican establishment. Going into the April 23 GOP Spring Endorsement Convention, party regular Tom Leonard—a former speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives—was widely favored to win the party’s endorsement to take on Democrat incumbent Attorney General Dana Nessel in November.Shortly before the Grand Rapids gathering, Leonard released a list of 200 endorsements he received from establishment Republicans. At the convention, Leonard was defeated by Matt DePerno, a private-sector constitutional lawyer from southwest Michigan who has never held public office.

Modern leftists now use two different strategies depending on their target: (1) create new words, the traditional labeling; and (2) redefine existing words. In this interview Naomi Wolf is one of the few people I have seen who correctly starts her discussion by dispatching the linguistics and framing her own baseline argument. One of the things that has made Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter so much fun is he’s driven the left mad with just his claim that he believes in preserving free speech on Twitter. He also has shown that he has a sense of humor. Yes, he wants to preserve free speech on the platform — but he also shows that he wants people to have fun on it. He has a lot of fun with it himself. On Friday, he proved that again, when he delivered a master-level response to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). AOC was sharing one of her typical “I hate billionaires” rants.

Invoices “demonstrate that Fusion was providing opposition research services related to Trump and Russia, and there is no evidence that Fusion provided services other than this opposition research,” the lawyers wrote in a brief.
