Our judicial system was created to determine factual truth and to determine whether our laws have been violated and are just. To that end, witnesses at a trial give sworn testimony on penalty of perjury and are subject to cross-examination and rebuttal. After the trial, one or more of the parties may decide to appeal the trial court decision. To preserve the trial court protections of sworn testimony, cross-examination, and rebuttal, appeals courts operate under a general rule: Appellate court review is limited to the trial court record of the evidence submitted. Shamefully, the general rule is not being followed. Enter the culprit –

Louis Brandeis is the root of the SC admitting evidence that was not considered by the lower court. It's gone downhill ever since. "The Brandeis brief was a pioneering legal brief that was the first in United States legal history to rely more on a compilation of scientific information and social science than on legal citations. It is named after then-litigator and eventual associate Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, who presented it in his argument for the 1908 US Supreme Court case Muller v. Oregon. The brief was submitted in support of a state law restricting the number of hours women were allowed to work.[2] The Brandeis brief consisted of more than 100 pages, only two of which were devoted to legal argument.[3] The rest of the document contained testimony by medics, social scientists, and male workers arguing that long working hours had a negative effect on the "health, safety, morals, and general welfare of women." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandeis_Brief

It will be a different sort of transformation than the elites are expecting and one that they should greatly fear. In the November 2022 midterms, we are likely to see a historic “No!” to the orthodox left-wing agenda that has resulted in unsustainable inflation, unaffordable energy, war, and humiliation abroad, spiraling crime, racial hostility — as well as arrogant defiance from those who deliberately enacted these disastrous policies. The public has been marinated in false narratives

The Biden Administration unilaterally and simply destroyed existing immigration law. What followed was surreal.

On Wednesday, the Florida Senate passed a bill to abolish the “Reedy Creed Improvement District.” This “improvement district” was created to benefit the Disney corporation in 1967. Today, the Florida House of Representatives passed the bill and sent it to Governor Ron DeSantis for signature. The bill passed by the legislature on Thursday would eliminate the Reedy Creek Improvement District, as the Disney government is known, as well as a handful of other similar districts by June 2023. The measure does allow for the districts to be reestablished, leaving an avenue to renegotiate its future. It now moves to DeSantis’ office to be signed into law.

A little over a decade ago, two researchers at Wharton published a paper showing that, despite women’s increasing work and educational opportunities, their self-reported happiness was in steady decline. Back in 1970, women were on average happier than men; they are now less happy than men. Broadly, since 1970, everyone has gotten more miserable. But the decline in women’s overall happiness has outpaced men’s, and the happiness curve inverted sometime in the early 1990s. The paper also documents increasing anxiety and neuroticism, as well as decreasing social cohesion among women.

Shares of Netflix plunged 37% Wednesday morning after the streamer reported earnings Tuesday evening that showed it lost subscribers for the first time in more than ten years. The results and weak outlook led to a wave of downgrades from Wall Street over fears of the company's long-term growth potential. Netflix said several headwinds are impacting growth, including competition and the easing pandemic restrictions. The company had been significantly boosted by coronavirus stay-at-home orders, as more people sought out digital entertainment. But people spent less time on digital platforms as vaccines rolled out and mandates eased. Slower household broadband growth also played a role in the company's weak forecast.

President Joe Biden has reportedly told former President Barack Obama that he intends to run for re-election in 2024. He wanted to be president for decades, so his desire to keep the Oval Office is unsurprising. But the case for a second term is quite weak — and voters know it even if Democrats in dreamland don’t.Inflation is at its worst in 40 years, erasing wage growth. Crime is surging in many major cities. Employers are struggling with labor shortages. Illegal immigration could top 2 million encounters this year, amid a border crisis that has been spiraling out of control since virtually the moment Biden took office.
