President Joe Biden is trying to protect Ukraine from further Russian escalation by publicly expanding policy justifications for a U.S. nuclear attack, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal on Friday.
The leaked expansion reverses his 2020 campaign pledge, which declared that the “sole purpose” of U.S. nuclear weapons would be the deterrence of a nuclear attack. The reversal was leaked to the Wall Street Journal as U.S. officials worry that Russia might escalate the border war in Ukraine amid the crippling setbacks caused by U.S.-supplied anti-tank missiles, anti-artillery drones, and economic sanctions. Some members of Biden’s administration — and many progressives — are pushing for a huge victory against Vladimir Putin,

States led by Republican governors and legislatures have been overwhelmingly more successful at bringing their respective state’s economic recovery before those governed by Democrats, according to an analysis of the February state-by-state unemployment data from the Department of Labor.
An analysis of the Labor Department’s state employment and unemployment data for February from the Republican National Committee (RNC) research team revealed that Republican-led states continue, month after month, to outperform Democrat-led states in job recovery and lowest unemployment numbers. “The latest data confirms Republican states continue to lead the nation with more jobs and lower unemployment,”

Actress Sally Field says that if she sees Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) or Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R), she “cannot be responsible for what I would do.”
“Those men who are doing that, and they’re mostly male governors who are doing it, are so backward, so ignorant and really just power hungry,” the Forest Gump star told Variety, after being asked what she thinks of these pro-life legislation in states like Texas and Florida. “I think it’s criminal. They’re so wanting to roll back the achievements and important progress for women, for blacks, for the LGBTQ community. I can’t say enough horrible things about what I feel about those men,” Sally Field continued

President Biden said Russian president Vladimir Putin “cannot remain in power” in a speech on the invasion of Ukraine on Saturday.
“Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia. For free people refuse to live in a world of hopelessness and darkness,” Biden said at the end of a speech at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland. They “have a different future, a brighter future, rooted in democracy and principle, hope and light, of decency and dignity and freedom and possibilities.”
Then Biden added, “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.”

A senior UN official has warned that Europe must either pay for more food aid abroad or face a “Hell on Earth” migrant crisis.
Pay for the food of the developing world or face another migrant crisis — this is the ultimatum the head of the UN’s World Food Programme has put to Europe’s leaders. The dramatic warning comes as the global organisation begins to struggle to pay for the food it gives to famine-stricken parts of the world, with the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine disrupting food supply globally and, by extension, driving up prices.

Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu appeared tense and tired as he was today shown on TV chairing a meeting as the Kremlin sought to dispel swirling rumours that he had suffered a heart attack.
The wax-faced 66-year-old army general, whose voice was rough and raspy, was reading from notes in an apparent crisis session to obtain more cash for his disastrous war from the Finance Ministry.
There was no immediate proof of when the televised Shoigu session broadcast took place, although it clearly referred to the 'special military operation' - Kremlin-speak for the war - underway in Ukraine. There is also speculation that Shoigu had sought to resign

I’m filing this under “too good to check,” as it’s in dispute. But before you dismiss the possibility out of hand that Ukraine has Russia on the run in the south, bear three things in mind:
1. They did just begin a counteroffensive aimed at Kherson
2. Yakov Rezantsev, the latest Russian general to be killed, reportedly met his maker in Kherson in a Ukrainian air attack
3. The fact that the Kremlin hinted hours ago that it was giving up on most of Ukraine might be a reaction to what’s happening in Kherson, essentially an admission that they can’t hold territory outside the Donbas at this point.

A Russian brigade commander in Ukraine has died after being run down with a tank by his own mutinous troops, it was revealed today.
Western officials believe Colonel Yuri Medvedev was brutally taken out after his 37th Motor Rifle Brigade suffered huge losses.
A lieutenant general commanding the 49th Combined Arms Army has also died in the fighting - the seventh to perish in the war. News of Colonel Medvedev's fate - backed by recent footage of the extraordinary episode - came amid claims that 20 of the 120 battalions massed by Vladimir Putin have been rendered inoperative

The Utah State Legislature has voted to override the governor's veto of the bill banning transgender children from participating in school sports. The House voted 56-18, while the Senate voted 21-8 for House Bill 11 on Friday, overturning the governor's veto of the bill. HB11, which was amended in the final hours of the legislative session, now bans transgender children from middle and high school sports. In the event of a lawsuit, however, the bill defaults to a special commission that would evaluate transgender children's eligibility to play a sport that matches their gender identity.
The commission idea was backed by Governor

It’s been a wild, past few weeks, when it comes to surprise rulings on redistricting.
As RedState reported on Wednesday, the US Supreme Court stepped in to overturn Gov. Tony Ever’s district-level map in Wisconsin. That left the left reeling, not because of the consequences of possibly losing a district or two, but because the precedent of the ruling took another big bite out of the Voting Rights Act, which Democrats have used for decades as a kind of “cheat code” to gerrymander in their favor while stopping Republicans from doing the same.
Now, a shock ruling out of Maryland has nuked

Joe Biden arrived in Poland on Friday to meet with the Polish president. While there, he also met with the U.S. military members who are stationed there as part of the NATO defense of Poland. He met with some of the 82nd Airborne. Some of what he said during the visit was very concerning and is likely to excite all kinds of comments. Biden frequently says embarrassing things and it’s bad. But this time, what he said is even worse and could blow back on us big time.
First, let’s deal with what I would term the “normal” bad embarrassing stuff from Biden.

On Friday in Warsaw, Old Joe Biden met with American troops from the 82nd Airborne Division. It was just a photo-op; the alleged president tried to project an image of comfortable, genial command as he greeted troops getting their hair cut and joined a group eating pizza in a cafeteria. He told the troops that they were “the finest fighting force in the history of the world,” and dropped a broad hint that they might soon be fighting the biggest war in the history of the world: Old Joe started describing to them what they would see when they got to Ukraine.
