One -- Reassuring an enemy what one will not do ensures that the enemy will do just that and more. Unpredictability and occasional enigmatic silence bolster deterrence. But President Joe Biden's predictable reassurance to Russian President Vladimir Putin that he will show restraint means Putin likely will not.
Two -- No-fly zones don't work in a big-power, symmetrical standoff. In a cost-benefit analysis, they are not worth the risk of shooting down the planes of a nuclear power. They usually do little to stop planes outside of such zones shooting missiles into them. Sending long-range, high-altitude anti-aircraft batteries to Ukraine to deny Russian air superiority is a far better way

One thing I don't understand is why is the Ukraine so important to Putin that he would pay the price he's paying. He's losing thousand of troops killed or injured, it's costing him a fortunte, and he is being severly critized. All I know is this wouldn't be happening if the US had a president. It all began when Quid Pro Joe killed the Keystone pipeline. That insured that Russia would have considerably less competition for their oil and gas sales. And they need money to operate their regime.

President Zelensky of Ukraine is now being touted by the Western media as being in the same league as Winston Churchill. But after the Russia-Ukraine War ends, probably by way of negotiating a peace deal, it is not far fetched that a lot of Ukrainian people will take in all the physical damage to the cities and town’s infrastructure all over the country, not alone all the Ukrainians who were killed and wounded, and will be asking why the currently still intransigent Zelensky did not negotiate a neutrality deal with the Russians to keep the Russians from destroying just about the entire country of Ukraine, as common sense will tell you that if Russia had invaded Ukrainian territory once that they would invade Ukraine again anytime the Russians felt that the time is right. That’s what is happening now.

Excellent points all. VDH is a voice of reason in this irrational world that democrats have created. We used to have debates and conversations between men like Dr. Hanson and his contemporaries but no more. Only certain opinions are for public consumption and anyone in opposition to their dogma is silenced. When the democrat party went off the rails with policies that were patently absurd, all debate ended. Then all that was left was their opinions and thoughts. No other existed. The left cannot tolerate men like VDH because they cannot refute his thoughts and opinions so they ignore him.

VDH meets his match Maria Salazar. MAD has kept nervous fingers off of the nuclear launch keys for some time now. Poking at the Bear with different sticks will still get you clawed and bitten!

11: The sovereign United States was overthrown in a coup against the US Constitution via blatant election fraud by the political, entertainment, big tech and financial elites. Superman is dead, replaced by power mad oligarchs beholden to the rainbow flag. Any wars fought by the US are now under that banner.

THE most important point which perhaps VDH has in mind but chose not to include. Ukraine was convenient distraction from the blame that the Biden regime was finding increasingly unanswerable. When you have the entire Fake News and Washington establishment to cover for you this works. If trump had tried this, they would have ripped him apart.

Good information as usual from historian VDH. Putin is a tyrant, no doubt. However, Curious no mention of the chain of US funded bio labs Putin keeps referring to.

Hunter & Joe have been on the Ukraine illegal payroll for years. What better way to cover up their crimes than turn
Ukraine over to Russia and bury the evidence. Maybe Joe has a brain cell hidden in that scarred head somewhere.

The eleventh reality of Ukraine - we are here because of the Great Election Fraud of 2020.
And you can thank a certain cast of characters in DC for this. CJ Roberts, Pence, Turtle, AG Barr, the msm, big tech, a list of globalists too long to list here including Georgie Boy Soros (is he dead yet?), Pierre Delecto, several US presidents including BJ, the Obiemeister, W, HW, and of course, biden the cheater.
And a really big thanks to the various local election officials in the swing states who so skillfully pulled stuffed ballot boxes from under the table to be counted.
And, finally, big thanks to the chicoms, the russkies, and the Iranian mullahs whose digital voting fraud and breaches of dominion's vote tabulation systems added +10 million votes to the FJB/Kamalie ticket. Good job, all.

And the missing point in this is...an explanation of the US vital national interest at stake in Ukraine. No one mentions any because there isn't any. If the thought is we need to defend "freedom" wherever it is under attack by tyrants, perhaps we could begin at home. This is a European "problem", not NATO's, and it was brought on by the effete Euros cutting their own defenses and cozying up to these oligarchs for commodities, including gas and oil.
China is doing what it must do to keep the US off balance by strengthening ties with Russia. It's the opposite of what Nixon-Kissinger did in the '70s. China actually has a foreign policy and a plan. The US still wants to fight the USSR, but no nukes, please.
While Ukraine is invaded by a few hundred thousand Russians, the United States has and continues to be invaded by MILLIONS from around the globe annually. Let's achieve some perspective here. Who's going to defend our borders and soverignty? VDH offers no thoughts. Where's NATO when we really need them?

Fact is a foreign philosophy and political beliefs have taken over DC, NY, MA, CA, and all large cities in Americas. Now, would you desire for China or Russia to take over NY as a separate country?
OK, Putin has killed five thousand of his troops. Johnson and Nixon killed fifty five thousand troops for
nothing.
I saw a film recently of the change in Russian. They have remodeled the country and it looks better than our mess in the cities. Ukraine, work this out. Look at how great Poland is today. Stop moving your money
now, and surrender with good terms. America just surrendered to the taliban, so go back to your home countrys with a surrender. Quit moving money.

This whole Putin mess is and was caused by the fake media and social media dudes stealing the 2020 election...there's now more evidence as to the steal...and Ukraine has suffered by their efforts to deny President Trump his rightful place in the White House...I'm still not comfortable ...why they did it....was their hatred of President Trump so intense that they would risk world war...or are the elites... world/wide managing their game plan to control everything and everyone...like the Rothchilds during WWII.....

Putin is keeping his promise here. Cleaning out all the rot and corruption of US influences which include bioweapons labs that OUR Pentagon is funding. This current situation has been building for a very long time, starting with Clinton. Using Ukraine as DC's cash cow for decades was eventually going to come crashing down on the Swamp's head. Putin stated his reasons earlier this week as to why he did this. I am glad he blew down the ATM machine of our Swamp. This has nothing to do with our shutting down our pipeline, and everything to do with dangling NATO membership in front of Zelensky's face. DC built this, not Putin. There is only so far down the road that one can kick that can before consequences start happening.

Putin probed with actions under the bowing, ring kissing apologies of Obama but the real green light was the stolen election with the placement of the fraud Joe Biden in the White House. The United States is weak and crippled now as the evils in the world are watching and acting out. Anything can happen now. Prayers for our nation is all we have.

We are being pulled into another war by the media and the MIM. I made me sick to see at the State of the Union, I'm talking about the United States of America, politicians waving the Ukraine flag, demonrats and republicans alike!
Does anyone remember that the Biden family, Soros and others made millions $$$ of dollars off of corrupt government politicians in Ukraine?
My Russian girlfriend, who has friends and relatives in Ukraine and Russia, says Selenskyy is as corrupt as Putin. Remember Selenskyy is an actor. War is hell, but we shouldn't be getting into another Iraq or Afghanistan!
Think about why are we going there, when we have hundreds of thousands dying at our border (from drugs, cartel). God only knows, our Southern border with Mexico, needs our billions of dollars and military to stop the invasion of millions of illegal aliens from all over the world, including terrorists. Texas is screaming because of the violence they are having to endure from this. God help us!

We are a threat to Russia because of NATO expansion to the Russian borders. Sovereign states have national interests. As a result, the Democrat-Socialists led us into a war in the European plains. Stolen elections have catastrophic consequences. We now see clearly what a great president Donald J. Trump was. No war!

Another good analysis by Victor Davis Hanson, although I am not sure his reality #8 applies to the conflict in Ukraine, given that it is the Russians on the other side and not the United States (i.e., we were the side against which others were supplying arms to defeat us, like in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq). When it comes to escalation of an ongoing military conflict, clearly the US is much more easily restrained than a country like Russia, especially with Putin in charge (and especially with this gang of losers in the White House).

11. - Wars are rarely based on logic.
I believe, with #11 above, that RINOS and Leftists have million$$ of reasons to see Ukraine utterly destroyed in order to hide the 'money trail' of U.S. Foreign Aide and Weapons Funding being "misappropriated" through corrupt Oligarchs and Officials inside Ukraine, along hiding their received "under-the-table bribes" using Cryptocurrencies in Ukrainian Banks. No doubt some 80% of Federal politicians and alphabet-agency political appointees (and family members) are thoroughly corrupt and often used Ukraine as their corporate ATM machine. Lindsey Graham and John McCain may have been along for that lucrative ride.
What does Russia have to gain?
1. Russia will gain even more Oil & Gas reserves in Ukraine extending their monopoly over shortsighted socialist Europe.
2. Russia will gain extensive coastline along the Black Sea and warm water ports for their Naval Fleet, something they have dreamed of for decades.
3. Russia will re-populate areas they wish with ethnic Russians, just like they did after the eastern 1932-1933 Ukraine famines brought about by Joseph Stalin and aided and abetted by New York Times' Pulitzer Prize Winning Communist Propagandist, Walter Duranty.
4. Russia will emerge back on the world stage as a power with which to be reckoned. The world will forget about the impropriety of the invasion and instead marvel how Vlad Putin humiliated the Dementia Doofus and his Cackling sidekick.
5. Russia and China will develop a stronger alliance.
6. The U.S.A. will be challenged in every ocean and sea around the world.
7. No country will ever trust the U.S.A. again for support.

Lets be very cautious to back Zelinsky as he appears to be on the side of Soros and the Global Reset group. He has just signed into law practically the entire globalist agenda of the World Economic Forum (WEF). Zelensky has just signed into law the first steps of (Klaus) Schwab’s Great Reset, and he is introducing a Social Credit Application combining Universal Basic Income (UBI), a Digital Identity & a Vaccine Passport all within their Diia app. He also says that because so much money is coming into Ukraine, he has legalized cryptocurrencies in Ukraine. You can search confirmation of this on the internet.

One question. Where is all the video and live streaming of this Russian invasion? The wireless and Internet infrastructure still operate in Ukraine, so where is all of the video? Isn't it odd that the only video of destruction and devastation is broadcast by MSM? Doesn't anyone think we are being lied to again? Ukraine... meh. Not a democracy, not a republic, not our problem.
