A California father's harrowing final moments have emerged in harrowing police footage showing him scream 'I can't breathe' while dying as he was held face-down on the ground so cops could extract a blood sample. Edward Bronstein, 38, died on March 31, 2020, less than two months before George Floyd was killed by police in Minnesota, after an altercation during his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was pulled over for a DUI, but taken to a police station after refusing to give a blood sample, which his family says was due to a fear of needles.(Snip)Five officers can be seen kneeling on him

The federal government will pay a $127.5 million settlement over the Parkland, Fla. school massacre—after it admitted the FBI didn’t follow up on two tips that could have prevented the massacre.
The legal deal announced Wednesday settles 40 lawsuits tied to the 2018 massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which remains the largest high school shooting in US history.(Snip)In one instance, a YouTuber had told the bureau that Cruz had posted “Im going to be a professional school shooter” on the comment section of one of his videos. Even though the username of the poster was “Nikolas Cruz,” agents at the time said they could not determine

Alabama, in a sudden reversal, will allow an Oneonta man to keep his personalized license plate that slams President Joe Biden. The state even apologized for its original effort to take back the plate.
Nathan Kirk, owner of Blount County Tactical gun store, personalized his license plate with the acronym LGBFJB, a reference to the political chant “Let’s go Brandon” followed by a vulgar insult of Biden. To make the message even clearer, Kirk told Al.com that he added a “don’t tread on me” plate cover which has the words “Let’s go Brandon” on it. “I see it as a goofy tag,” Kirk told AL.com on Tuesday, “But the meaning

Disney workers are planning walkouts during their breaks every day this week to protest CEO Bob Chapek's 'slow response' in publicly criticizing Florida legislation that critics have dubbed the 'Don't Say Gay' bill. The act of protest will culminate next Tuesday with a larger walkout by LGBTQ workers and their supporters at Disney worksites in California, Florida and elsewhere, the group of Disney employees said this week on their website. Organizers asked Disney workers to respond online whether or not they were planning to participate in the full-scale walkout next week.(Snip)Statements by Disney leadership over the Florida legislation 'have utterly failed to match the magnitude of the threat

President Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “war criminal” on Wednesday, marking a shift in the administration’s rhetoric over the war in Ukraine. “He is a war criminal,” Mr. Biden said of Mr. Putin in response to a reporter’s question as he left an event at the White House. Mr. Biden had previously condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine but has stopped short of saying whether Moscow had committed war crimes in the conflict. When asked about the escalation in rhetoric, White House press secretary Jen Psaki simply said Mr. Biden was answering a direct question. “We’ve all seen barbaric acts, horrific acts by a foreign dictator in a country

Lawmakers stepped up pressure on President Biden to help get fighter jets to Ukraine after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s powerful appeal to Congress on Wednesday for more U.S. military support.
Democrats and Republicans pushed Mr. Biden to stop hesitating on a deal to transfer Polish MiG fighters to Ukraine, which Mr. Biden warns would escalate the war and tempt Russian President Vladimir Putin to spark World War III. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Democrat, said the U.S. needed to send aircraft and other military hardware to give Ukraine a fighting chance.(Snip)Sen. Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican and a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, said: “Right now the Biden administration

About 400 used bulletproof vests that were supposed to be donated to Ukraine were stolen sometime overnight from a nonprofit organization in Manhattan, police said Wednesday. The vests were being stored at 203 Second Ave. near 12th Street in the East Village and were slated to be sent to the country that has been under siege by Russian forces since Feb. 24. Somebody called 911 after discovering the heist at 9:19 a.m., police said. When cops arrived, they found someone had forced their way into the building, police said. The vests were being stored in a hallway and were “visible to the public,” a police source said.

Ukrainian refugees are being turned away at the U.S. southern border because asylum seekers are still subject to coronavirus-era Title 42, which allows migrants to be expelled due to the ongoing health emergency. President Joe Biden has kept the Trump-era policy in place and his administration has defended it in court in order to help quell the southern border crisis as the pandemic prevails and record numbers of migrants arrive.(Snip)The outlet said Tijuana journalists have witnessed dozens of Ukrainian and Russian families gathering outside the U.S. southern border and families in Tijuana claim Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents are selective of who they let in.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced Wednesday he will grant Temporary Protected Status to many Afghans already in the U.S., giving them a new level of status. TPS confers key benefits like work permits to migrants, allowing them a chance to put down roots in society. As a tentative legal status, it also blocks deportations, though the Biden administration had already halted removals to Afghanistan after the country’s takeover by the Taliban last year. Homeland Security said “ongoing armed conflict” involving the Taliban and attacks by Islamic State-Khorasan have left the country too unstable for people to be forced to return. “This TPS designation will help to protect Afghan

President Biden is under fire for allowing U.S. tax dollars to fund government research in Russia, including “stomach-churning” scientific tests on cats, despite championing economic sanctions against the country for its invasion of Ukraine. Republican lawmakers say that if Mr. Biden is serious about punishing Russia’s belligerence, the White House needs to stop subsidizing Moscow’s research labs. They note that Russia has four facilities conducting scientific research that are approved by the National Institutes of Health to receive grants funded by American tax dollars. “Our tax dollars should never be going to our foreign adversaries, especially as the U.S. puts crippling sanctions on the Kremlin,” said Rep. The man held in the killing of two homeless men and attacks on three others was previously found to be ‘psychotic,’ not fit to stand trial, and tried to hide his prison rap lyrics ‘in his buttocks’.
Gerald Brevard III, 30, was arrested Tuesday for the cold-blooded killings and shootings, some of which were caught on shocking video.
Brevard has a long rap sheet including armed robbery, assault with a firearm, destruction of property and theft.
