The Biden administration has moved to make it more attractive for immigrants to sign up for welfare, laying down a marker just days before the Supreme Court is slated to take up the issue in a legal challenge seeking to restore stricter Trump-era rules. The Homeland Security Department released a proposal to raise the bar for becoming a “public charge.” Joining programs such as Medicaid won’t be counted against most immigrants, it said. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said immigrants “will not be penalized for choosing to access the health benefits and other supplemental government services available to them.”

It’s something Shae Frichette, with Frichette Winery in Benton City knows all too well.(Snip)“When I first came into wine, I didn't see any Black female winemakers and so I just didn't see that represented so I really had to figure out my place in wine,” Frichette said. A Black Lives Matter activist who was charged with attempted murder last week following an alleged assassination attempt on a Jewish mayoral candidate exhibited anti-Semitic views on social media.
Quintez Brown, 21, was arrested and charged with attempted murder shortly after Monday's shooting in Louisville, Kentucky, in which Democratic candidate Craig Greenberg narrowly avoided the bullet.
But he was released from prison and placed under house arrest just two days after the shooting when a BLM chapter, the Louisville Community Bail Fund, posted his $100,000 bond.
