Longtime actor Howard Hesseman, most famous for his role as disc jockey Dr. Johnny Fever on the sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati, has died, says The Hollywood Reporter. He was 81 years old.
Hesseman died at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Saturday, of complications from colon surgery that he had last year.
Hesseman had many acting credits to his name. Aside from his role on WKRP in Cincinnati, for which he received two Emmy nominations, he also played history teacher Charlie Moore in the ’80s sitcom Head of the Class, in which he starred for four of its five seasons. He had many other roles and appearances on television,

Some experts have suggested that the omicron variant of COVID-19 could be the beginning of the end of the pandemic. In addition to its relatively low case fatality rate, cases overall are declining.
Don’t jump for joy just yet. Just because COVID may be coming to an end soon doesn’t mean mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and other COVID restrictions will simply disappear.
I hate to be cynical, but considering how leftist government officials have proven themselves unwilling to give up their COVID-era control over people, it seems likely that “life will find a way” for them to continue indulging their lust for power.

Democrats know the wipeout is coming. We see a lot of Democrats in the House retiring. 29 people have now announced they are heading for the exits. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee just added seven more Democrats to the “vulnerable” category list they have.
Meanwhile, Democrats are giving Joe Biden the cold shoulder, claiming “scheduling” issues when he comes to town so they don’t have to be seen with him. With his numbers in the basement, he’s political poison.
But now the report is that one of their big guns — DNC Chair Jaime Harrison —

Over the past few months, a string of so-called “smash and grab” robberies has cropped up across the country at businesses in blue cities like Chicago (among others) — but many seem to primarily be happening in California, as RedState covered here, here, and most recently, in late December in the Bay area. On Friday, we saw another example of the latter. [Video]
KGO-TV reported
A Northern California jewelry store owner took matters into his own hands to stop a smash-and-grab robbery last Friday.
Surveillance video shows a person run into Maaz Jewelers at Tanforan Mall in San Bruno, and take a crow bar to the display case.

From the time COVID started, I've been a bit of a maverick. I didn't stay home. I never have worn a mask that wasn't easy to breathe through — one thin layer, and only where I'm forced to wear it. I always believed that science would find drugs that could keep us out of the hospital — and those were, indeed, found early on. I was never scared of COVID itself. I figured if I was making healthy food and other lifestyle choices and got outdoors a lot for exercise (and believe me, it's daunting when you're the only one outdoors,

A former Kansas woman and mother of five has been charged with joining ISIS and leading an all-female battalion of fighters in Syria, the Department of Justice announced Saturday.
Allison Fluke-Ekren, 42, allegedly trained her own children to use AK-47s and suicide belts, translated speeches made by ISIS leaders, and conspired to plan an attack on an American college campus, the DOJ said.
Fluke-Ekren was appointed in 2016 to lead the Khatiba Nusaybah, an all-female military unit of the Islamic State, in Raqqa, Syria, according to a criminal complaint filed in 2019 and unsealed Saturday.
In that role, she trained more than 100 women to fire assault rifles, throw grenades, drive explosives-laden vehicles,

Last summer I was notified of secret overnight flights coming into Westchester County Airport that were transporting thousands of illegal immigrants apprehended at the southern border. Having overseen the airport during my tenure as county executive, I knew that flights arriving after midnight are not allowed so I started asking questions publicly.
Who are on these planes? Have they been vetted and COVID tested? How many flights so far and how many more are scheduled? Where are these illegal immigrants being placed and who is paying for all this? Have background checks been done, especially on the adults?
What happened next was entirely predictable.

Florida weather forecasters are warning iguanas may be falling out of trees this weekend as the Sunshine State goes through a cold snap.
Temperatures in the usually balmy state are expected to plunge this weekend, hitting below freezing in some areas, meaning the cold-blooded lizards raining down to the ground.
“They slow down or become immobile when it’s below 40,” WFTV meteorologist Brian Shields posted on Twitter. “They may fall from trees, but they aren’t dead.”
The phenomenon isn’t uncommon when frigid weather hits Florida. In 2020, the National Weather Service Miami-South Florida issued a warning ahead of a deep chill.

A California mother of three died of COVID-19 after she was denied a vaccine and then monoclonal antibody treatment because she had multiple sclerosis, her family claims.
Nerissa Regnier, 45, a real estate agent from Mission Viejo, died Dec. 16 after allegedly being refused a jab despite asking for one seven times within six months, ABC 7 Los Angeles reported.
She was then denied monoclonal antibody treatment after contracting the deadly bug, her family’s attorneys said this week as they announced plans to file a wrongful death lawsuit against her health care provider, Kaiser Permanente.
“She was a very healthy mother of three managing her MS,” attorney Annee Della Donna said about Regnier,

The people in contemporary America who most pride themselves on their alleged commitment to science and public health are also the most superstitious and immune to evidence. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the debate over masking kids at school — an ongoing, flagrant example of collective irrationality.
The supporters of mask mandates are fired by a righteous certainty that if a child comes to school unmasked, his or her school and community are at risk of a devastating outbreak of COVID; that parents who don’t want to mask their kids are selfish and uncaring boobs who need to turn off Fox News; that public officials who block mask mandates,

A Canadian province issued a directive on Saturday making some support of the massive truckers “Freedom Convoy” a crime that can award the non-compliant a hefty fine.
Although the Nova Scotia province’s press release about the new directive attempts to characterize it as a simple ban on “highway border blockades,” the order specifically seeks to limit “participating in, financing, organizing, aiding, encouraging, or supporting” the anti-vaccine mandate convoy.
As worded, it could potentially make it illegal for the area’s protestors to even donate to the Freedom Convoy 2022 fund that has already raised over $8 million Canadian dollars to help the truckers with the cost of fuel, food, and lodging

United Airlines has placed more than 1,000 pilots on unpaid leave for failing to comply with its vaccine mandate, leaving many in limbo without medical benefits and unable to access their 401Ks.
One pilot is fighting back.
United pilot and co-founder of Airline Employees 4 Health Freedom Sherry Walker appeared on Fox Business’s “Cavuto: Coast to Coast” Friday to explain the burden the company’s policy is having on its staff and to discuss the lawsuit her group is filing on behalf of United employees.
“Myself and two co-founders are leading 2,000-plus United employees in a lawsuit against our company for violates of Title VII,” Walker said.
