In these times of vitriol, when you either take a stand for what is right or become one of the sheep, invariably you are going to lose “friends.” But maybe they weren’t really friends to start with.Certainly, President Trump doesn’t worry about lost friendships when he challenges Uni-Party idiocy. Nor do the MAGA Republicans that have kept their spine after entering Congress. Patriotic Americans who believe in Judeo-Christian values can’t worry about hurt feelings when pushing back at insane totalitarian groupthink.

Disagree----I think of James Carville and Mary Matalin still together over 30 years. It's not worth losing friends and especially family over politics. Just don't talk about it when together.

I agree... If you have people that are still leftists after what they have put our country through over the years, you are my sworn enemy, you are not my friend, you are not my family.

I have leftist friends, but I don't discuss politics with them, and when they try, I change the subject. On the other hand, I got very tired of one leftist friend who, every time she came into my house, made snarky remarks about my Trump pictures. She sent me a snarky email on election day, and that was the last straw. When it became obvious that the Dems would be allowed to steal the election, she called both my landline and cell in rapid succession to gloat. I didn't answer either (thank you caller ID) and didn't return the calls. She's your classic unhappy older woman who makes everyone around her miserable as well. Good riddance.

#1 - I try not to think of James Carville !! I can’t imagine that creepy little lizard has any redeeming qualities. His wife seems wonderful and yet…. I shudder just thinking about it !!!

Or, they leave you. I have a daughter who is still suffering (and I mean suffering) from TDR. And true belief in Covid fear porn, hanging on every word from Dr. Gremlin Mengele. She has chosen to walk away from her family. I have a feeling it’s a lonely life.

If the American Thinker was actually thinking, a phrase in the article would read: "Patriotic Americans who have realized the truth of Judeo-Christian values .... "

My forty-three-year-old daughter, who works at a high level in a very woke corporation I will refrain from naming, is your classic liberal. As a father, I still love her, but sadly, there’s not much communication between us. She set the limits, not me.

My niece and her husband follow the Marxist ideology of the demosluts. When we have family get togethers, the majority of the family decides ahead of time not to discuss politics, and everyone has had a good time. Over the last year or so, my niece and her husband have found a few excuses to miss our family gatherings. Some of the excuses are pretty lame. Sometimes they say they are going to be there, but don't show up. It's a shame because politics isn't really discussed even when they aren't there. We talk about growing up together, family vacations, old school mates, watch home movies and other things, but not politics. We just assume they have chosen politics over family.

The term that comes to mind regarding this article is 'right fighting'. You have to be right regardless the damage it does to relationships. Great way to lose family, friends, relatives, and acquaintances.
My brother turned into a raging liberal after he got a job at a college, and it has stuck ever since even though he is no longer with the college. He used to be a moderate conservative but became alienated during the Bush 2 years. We talk 3 or 4 times a year but haven't seen him face to face in 5 or 6 years. He is tough to stomach at times.

In my experience, leftists drop conservatives - not the other way around. Despite their woke screeching, tolerance isn't a leftist characteristic.

#6/#8, hang in there, bruthas. We have a son who's done the same. If we'd burned him with cigarettes or kept him locked in a cage as a child, we'd understand. All we can discern is that his self-perceived trauma resulted from our regularly taking him to church growing up and voting for Trump.
We still have a fatted calf to share with him if he comes home, but it's a shame he's squandering his family's love in the meantime. For politics.

Re: #8 - Contrary to what a lot of people think, classical liberalism is not a curse, as it a political ideology that advocates for a free market economy, the rule of law, and limited government. IN the early '90s, I took a graduate course in political science and was the class' token conservative. My professor stated in class that I was a classical liberal, which I took as an insult and so stated but agreed to research the matter empirically, and rebut his assertion if I disagreed. I could't based on the prevailing literature. Leftists are anything but classical liberals. John Locke is considered the father of classical liberalism, consistently arguing that each man has a natural right to life, liberty and property and governments must not violate these rights. He was also an early champion of religious tolerance. Locke's work was foundational to our country's Framers in the 1770s and '80s.

Re #6 I feel your pain, and I don't know if it helps or hurts, but I fear our young women are easier converts in that cesspool known as Education, all the way from K to Phd. God help us.
