U.S. crude oil production fell by 8% in 2020, the largest annual decrease on record, the U.S. Energy Information Agency reports.
This plunge occurred one year after the U.S. reached a record annual average high of 12.2 million barrels a day in production in 2019.
In January 2020, U.S. crude oil production reached a peak of 12.8 million b/d. But with federal and state lockdowns halting travel over coronavirus fears, demand for oil dropped and production became too expensive to maintain.

FiveThirtyEight, a left-leaning site put out a request for information. On Christmas day, it asked women to send in their abortion stories (and yes, it spoke of women, not birthing people) and provided a form by which they could do so. We don’t know what responses they got from the form, but the responses on Twitter are amazing. An overwhelming number came from women who did not have an abortion or regretted having one, or from children who are grateful they weren’t aborted. I’ll share some with you.
To begin, here’s a little more about the FiveThirtyEight request for information about abortion.

A Texas doctor said his practice has seen a nearly 15% increase in vasectomies as men try to push back against the state’s abortion law, The Washington Post (WaPo) reported Sunday.
Koushik Shaw, a doctor who practices at the Austin Urology Institute, told WaPo his practice saw a roughly 15% increase in scheduled vasectomies following the state’s Sept. 1 abortion ban.
Shaw told the outlet patients are coming in, saying “‘Hey, I’m actually here because some of these changes that [Gov. Greg] Abbott and our legislature have passed that are really impacting our decision-making in terms of family planning,’ so that was a new one for me as a reason

Joe Biden, first as a candidate and then in the White House, from the outset saw the COVID-19 pandemic mainly as a means of leveraging political support, from the manner in which the lockdowns allowed him to run a virtual campaign from his basement to equating Donald Trump with the COVID-19 virus.
Like many on the Left, Biden was overt in such cynicism. So were Hillary Clinton, Gavin Newsom, and Jane Fonda—who claimed that COVID was a “never-let-a-crisis-go-to-waste” moment. Panic and lockdowns could help achieve single-payer health care, or a recalibrated capitalism, or the end of Donald Trump himself.

The families of the 17 missionaries who were kidnapped in Haiti on Oct. 16 have been safely reunited with their loved ones after the 12 remaining hostages managed to escape and make it to freedom. (snip) But on Dec. 15, after feeling “nudged” to make a break, the remaining 12 missionaries — including children and an infant — solidified a plan.
They walked for miles over the rough terrain, in gang territory, filled with brambles, with nothing to guide them but the light of the moon and their faith. It was enough.

A New York judge ordered the New York Times to destroy all copies of attorney-client privileged memos from Project Veritas.
The order, signed by Judge Charles Wood of the State Supreme Court in Westchester County and dated Thursday, found the newspaper improperly obtained and published materials from the memos written by a lawyer for the conservative group that discussed Project Veritas's methods of reporting. The group sued the New York Times in November 2020 for defamation.

Dominion voting machines in Fulton County, Pennsylvania, will be sent to the state Senate for inspection next month following a ruling by the commonwealth court, according to a press release Thursday by The Amistad Project.
“The court recognized that it was improper to demand that the county – which owns the machines, and has the responsibility of running the election along with the legislature – can’t determine whether the machines worked properly,” Amistad Project Director Phill Kline said. “As the judge noted, there’s no justification for preventing the county from looking at their own machines.”

The California Department of Education's equity project manager has resigned due to the fact she lives in Texas.
Pamela Kadakia worked for the California state department while living in Texas, according to Politico. Additionally, the Lone Star State is on California's state-funded travel ban list.
California law mandates that state employees live there unless they need to live in another location for their work, such as lobbying in D.C.
Kadakia is the second California education equity official to depart in recent weeks.
