Taylor, Texas — Samsung Electronics Co. is set to announce plans to build a $17B chipmaking plant in Taylor, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
Samsung previously indicated in its application filings that it wanted to start construction in January 2022. Last week, Taylor Independent School District trustees approved a Chapter 313 agreement with Samsung, which gives the company a break on property taxes, according to the Austin Business Journal.
ABJ reported the plant could create 1,800 jobs.
An attorney who worked on Taylor ISD’s agreement told KXAN the deal would save Samsung about $292 million in gross taxes over 15 years. After additional payments

Former President Donald Trump expressed condolences Monday to the people of Waukesha, Wis., one day after a driver plowed an SUV into a Christmas parade, killing at least five and injuring dozens more.
“The whole world is watching the tragedy which just took place in Waukesha, Wisconsin, it is devastating, horrible, and very very sick!” Trump said in an emailed statement from his Save America PAC. “My heart goes out to the people of this great, beautiful, and hardworking community.”
“We must find the answers to this terrible crime, and stop these violent and depraved acts from happening again,” the 45th president added. “I am with you Waukesha, and always will be!”

President Joe Biden was silent on Monday morning after a vehicle plowed into a crowd at a Christmas parade in Wisconsin, killing at least five people.
Biden did not make any statement about the incident, several hours after a red SUV drove into a crowd of people attending a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Police officers have identified the person driving the vehicle as Darrell Brooks, released on bail on Friday on a $1,000 bond after being charged with resisting an officer, reckless homicide, and disorderly conduct, according to the Associated Press.
In July 2020, he was charged with reckless endangering and illegal possession of a firearm.

Darrell Edward Brooks, the mass murderer who ran over 45+ people in a Christmas parade, should have been in jail, for several reasons.
Brooks has a lengthy rap sheet which includes felony reckless endangerment and a felony possession of a weapon. PJ Media’s Gwendolyn Sims reported on Brooks yesterday. Most recently, Brooks was arrested for running over a female friend in what is described as a domestic abuse case. The complaint states Brooks followed his girlfriend to a gas station after a fight and, as the victim put it, “ran her over with his vehicle.” She was hospitalized for her injuries.

A Wisconsin man was hit with five counts of first-degree intentional homicide Monday in the deadly vehicular attack on a Christmas parade in Waukesha, police said at a press conference.
An emotional Police Chief Daniel Thompson said cops have ruled out terrorism as a motive for the tragic incident, but confirmed that Darrell Brooks, who had been held as a person of interest in the case, has now been charged.
“The subject was taken into custody a short distance from the scene and we are confident he acted alone,” Thompson told reporters. “There is no evidence that this is a terrorist incident.”
He said Brooks was involved in an unrelated “domestic incident”

Over the weekend, the left has spent a good deal of its time raging over the outcome of the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. They clearly didn’t get the outcome they wanted after Rittenhouse was ruled not guilty on all charges, and have made ludicrous claims about his status as a murderer and how this country is a racist mess that only benefits white supremacists. To be clear, there are no indications whatsoever that Rittenhouse is racist in any regard, and the people he had to shoot in self-defense were all white.
But amid the hot takes about Rittenhouse were disgusting defense and praise of those Rittenhouse had shot.

In the aftermath of the Waukesha car attack that left multiple locals dead and dozens wounded, Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm has called for an investigation into the “inappropriately low” cash bond offered to alleged perpetrator Darrell Brooks Jr.
After his cash bail was posted for $1,000, Brooks was able to leave prison, where he was incarcerated for other serious offenses, in a matter of days.
On Sunday night, Brooks allegedly rammed through a crowd watching the Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wis. with his vehicle, killing five and injuring over 40 people, including children and some elderly.

The New York state Assembly’s bombshell report on ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s sexual harassment has corroborated claims made by a 12th accuser — who said he forcibly kissed her while touring her flood-damaged home and then sent her signed photos of the visit.
Sherry Vill, 55, publicly accused Cuomo in March of “manhandling” her when he visited Greece, just outside Rochester, in 2017 after the area was ravaged by floods.
The legislative investigation released Monday lists the married mother-of-three for the first time as one of Cuomo’s accusers.

Findings from the New York State Assembly’s impeachment investigation of Andrew Cuomo released Monday revealed a string of abuses of power by the former governor, including sexual harassment, the use of staff to write his book, and a cover-up of COVID-19 nursing home deaths.
The eight-month probe found “overwhelming evidence that the former governor engaged in sexual harassment,” according to the 46-page report.
The Assembly Judiciary Committee found that the now-disgraced former governor likely violated state ethics laws as he “utilized the time of multiple state employees, as well as his own, to further his personal gain during a global pandemic” in writing and promoting his memoir

The City of Waukesha has confirmed via its Twitter account that five people were killed and over 40 injured at the community Christmas parade Sunday evening when a man rammed his Ford Escape through barricades and onto the parade route. Officials noted, though, that the numbers of dead/injured may change and that the situation is fluid. Reports immediately following the incident claimed that law enforcement officers were looking for three suspects, but the tweet from the official city account said that “the” person of interest is in custody. As Nick Arama covered earlier, that man is believed
