We recently looked at a report showing that the new infrastructure bill is a prime target for fraud, with analysts predicting that as much as 15% of the money being made available will be illicitly taken. The bill contains very few provisions to prevent that from happening. Today’s story out of California should serve as a reminder that the last rounds of COVID relief were similarly targeted by thieves and the problem is still ongoing.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) spoke out Sunday against an FBI raid on the home of Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe more than a week before, calling it a threat to press freedom and the First Amendment to the Constitution.
As Breitbart News reported Nov. 7: “The FBI raided James O’Keefe’s home in New York on Saturday, apparently looking for clues in the alleged theft of a diary belonging to Ashley Biden, the daughter of President Joe Biden.” Project Veritas claimed that it had obtained the diary legally in 2020,

Could it really be possible? Is disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo seriously considering mounting a political “comeback” and trying to take back his old job as Attorney General? There’s plenty of reason to doubt this story (as we’ll get to in a moment), but multiple outlets began reporting it yesterday, so let’s at least take a look. The story first broke in the New York Post and was later followed up at Mediaite. Other local outlets in the Empire State quickly began putting in calls requesting comment.

Is it possible that the same event can give you hope, and dash all hope, all at the same time?
Indeed it is. Glenn Youngkin’s win in Virginia last Tuesday is just such an event. Just days before Youngkin’s victory, in my article “Democrats Are Imploding; All Is Well, Right?” I said that in fact all is very much NOT well. I ensured you that Youngkin was going to win, but noted that the Democrats do one thing very well – they don’t ever quit:
I said the Democrats, and those who identify with them, are stupid. I didn’t say they were just going to quit.

President Joe Biden conceded Wednesday that inflation was a problem, three months after dismissing it as temporary.
“Everything from a gallon of gas to loaf of bread costs more,” Biden said during an event promoting his infrastructure bill in Baltimore. “And it’s worrisome, even though wages are going up.” The president took a sharply different tone from his comments in July, when he dismissed rising costs and inflation as temporary and nothing to worry about.
“Some folks have raised worries that this could be a sign of persistent inflation. But that’s not our view,” he said at the White House on July 19.

Republicans are leading RealClearPolitics’ [RCP] general ballot for the first time since 2014, according to the analysis website, which averages notable political polls in an effort to forecast election outcomes.
RCP has Republicans up by half a percentage point on its generic congressional vote, showing 43.3 percent support for Republicans and 42.8 percent support for Democrats and potentially foreshadowing a red wave in 2022. Democrats notably maintained the lead in 2020, 2018, and 2016, though RCP showed Republicans ahead by 2.4 percentage points in 2014, halfway through former President Barack Obama’s second term.

Climate activists demanded an end to capitalism, “black liberation”, and the abolition of police at a demonstration outside the United Nations COP26 summit in Glasgow, Scotland.
Gathering in George Square in central Glasgow on Saturday, an array of climate activists, including those from indigenous communities in South America, Asia, and Africa, came together to denounce Western imperialism and the alleged racism inherent in climate change.
Edinburgh University medical student and climate activist Mikaela Loach said that the UK government’s decision to go forward with oil exploration projects was “worse than hypocrisy”, saying that “it is violence”.

My election-night prediction on how lefties would spin the results: “Unless McAuliffe wins easily, which he won’t, they’ll claim that his defeat or narrow victory is evidence that lefty voters are demoralized and will remain so until congressional Dems go big on spending.”
Watch this clip and bear in mind that she’s talking about a cycle in which (a) the socialist who won the Democratic primary for mayor in Buffalo lost the general election to a write-in candidate; (b) the hyper-powerful Democratic president of New Jersey’s state senate lost to a Republican truck driver who spent $153 on his campaign;

Congressional Democrats are refusing to accept blame for President Joe Biden’s stalled agenda while Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe’s campaign has stumbled to the finish line ahead of Tuesday’s election.
Democrats are worried McAuliffe may lose Virginia’s gubernatorial race in a state Biden won by ten points in 2020. The possible negative results for Democrats has the far-left and more temperate members of the party resorting to slippery rhetoric to dodge being seen as “obstructionists.”

In the recent Townhall sponsored by CNN, Joe Biden was asked about Policemen and other First Responders who are not vaccinated. Should they be mandated to get the vaccine and if they refuse should they be told to remain at home or be let go?
Biden responds: “Yes and yes. (applause) … Look, the two things that concern me: one are (sic) those who just try to make this a political issue. Freedom. I have the freedom to kill you with my Covid. (applause) No, I mean c’mon.” Then, with a dismissive sneer, “Freedom.”
Love his criticism of those making this a political issue.

The Wall Street Journal published a single slide from an internal Facebook file purporting to measure “trust” in news publishers on the platform, but the source who passed it to the newspaper included no details about the methodology used to collect the data, which users were surveyed, or who conducted the survey.
The slide shows a graph with news publishers dotted around in four quadrants: “false negatives, “true negatives,” “false positives,” and “true positives,” although there is scant explanation of what each of these categories mean.

Any failure by the Cop26 summit in Glasgow to deliver an agreement on future trans-national climate controls could plunge the world into chaos, sparking migration crises alongside food shortages, political disorder and war, the U.N.’s top climate official warned Sunday.
Patricia Espinosa, executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, made her bleak prediction ahead of the opening of the convention on November 1.As some 30,000 people from 197 different countries ready to fly in to the meeting, she warned:
We’re really talking about preserving the stability of countries,
Comments:
Better late than never, but this really speaks to where we're at as a country. The ACLU used to get us angry, but at least they were consistent in their support of the First Amendment. Now they're just another wing of the Democratic Party.
