The Inherent Fraud of ‘The 1619 Project’

First and foremost, here’s a “shout out,” a “tip of the hat.” and a “thumbs up” to Stephen B. Young, who wrote Refutation of the 1619 Project is right there in the creation of the Continental Congress for American Thinker. It has been good to see my fellow Americans and historical scholars challenge the validity of “The 1619 Project,” doing everything from 1776 Unites to the newly released book, Debunking the 1619 Project by Mary Grabar, Ph.D. (Prof. Grabar also wrote Debunking Howard Zinn.) We need to make sure these two books are part of a balanced approach to teaching the whole truth about American history.

Elites will never give up trying to enslave everyone else. To them, they are god. They deserve to own everyone else and anything everyone else owns, isn't really theirs - it belongs to the Elite, who considers your money, your property, even your lives and persons to belong to them. They are proper sociopaths and the Bidens and the Clintons are very standard examples of the Elite. In addition, there are the "Entitled Elite". These are entire families that have historically used political power and prestige to loot the wealth of everyone around them, denying them justice or fair recompense, over the course of generations. You can protect yourself, becoming an 'Elite' only through their patronage. This is the real lesson of the 1619 project. The author sought the Entitled Elites' patronage, writing to support their lies and further their causes.

Context. I may surprise some people, but Jamestown was not founded by America or by Americans. Heck, it wasn't even founded by "Britain". It was founded under the dual monarchy of England and Scotland, ruled separately of King James, the First in England, the Sixth in Scotland. Most of the backers and participants of the Jamestown enterprise were actually from Cornwall, a section of England that spoke it own language, Cornish, up until about 70 years before Jamestown. (Being Catholic, Cornwall took a big hit during Henry VIII's reign and about 20% of its population was killed.) You want to see some abuse of humans, check out how the Jamestown organizers/proprietors treated the people who signed on as Jamestown colonists. Right off the bat, it was universally understood an Englishman only had rights under English law if he (and yes, I do mean "he") was in ENGLAND. The law in Jamestown was whatever the proprietors said it was -- and they communication with them back in England took months to years. There were a lot of pretty words on paper, but with no oversight, the reality was pretty grim. The 1619 "twenty and odd" Blacks sold in Virginia got there in August. In June of that year, Jamestown was finally allowed a representative government, with voting rights given to ENGLISH MEN. There were colonists from other countries, and of course, women, who were not franchised. Neither were indentured servants and men with no "occupation" - working, that is. (And who decided it your indentureship was still in effect or whether you were "working"? Ultimately, still those proprietors back in England.) Very prescient of the Jamestowners to set up a government excluding Blacks before they ever got their first Black slave. (Two of which were apparently among my ancestors.)

Hey, #1. I didn't see your reply until after I posted mine. Thanks for the intro! (Technically, the King of England and Scotland was appointed by God and DID own everything. The nobility only "owned" their title and lands at his forbearance and whatever concessions they had beat out of the monarchy over the years. Nobody owned their own land in England - you just thought you did. Ask King James' son how that worked out.) This was the great draw of the New World - even for the Elites - land that you could own free and simple.)

the first African slaves were sent to the new world in the early 1500s from Europe, not Africa. The first direct journey from Africa to the Americas was around 1526 - nearly a century earlier than those who arrived to what us now the USA. Of over 12.5 million transported from Africa only about 388,000 came to what is now the USA. Africans in South, Central and Caribbean America were worked to death requiring replenishment while those in North America were better treated and allowed to procreate.... see Henry Louis Gates and Steve Mintz histories for reality
