Marvel has abruptly canceled its “Guardians of the Galaxy” comic book, a rebooted series in which several members of the troupe of galaxy-hopping superheroes came out as bisexual or gay.(Snip)“Peter Quill came out as bisexual (Guardians of the Galaxy No. 9), Richard Rider (Nova) admitted his love for Quill, Moondragon and Genis-Vell were married, and Hercules and Marvel Boy started a relationship,” Mr. Lynch wrote in a Sept. 24 article. “It was clear that Ewing cares about these characters and it spilled out in his writing and it’s unfortunate that the series is ending after so much thoughtful storytelling.”

Wells Fargo will pay $37 million in fines after 'routinely' lying to small and medium businesses about exchange rates and keeping a running tally of the overages they were willing to accept while their own workers made up to $1 million in bonuses. The bank failed to disclose the fees it charged companies that dealt in foreign currency between 2010 and 2017, only letting them know about the 'all in' final rate rather than the market rate or the extra money it was charging, court record show.(Snip)One employee seemed to spell out the whole scheme in an internal email, saying he 'bumped spreads up a pinch,'

A Muslim inmate who was strip-searched by a transgender guard at a Wisconsin men’s prison has filed a federal lawsuit saying the search violated his faith and freedom of religion.(Snip)Several experts on prisoners’ rights and LGBTQ rights told The Washington Times the case could be influential in constitutional and prison law. In the lawsuit, Rufus West, 50, an inmate at the Green Bay Correctional Institution, says guard Isaac Buhle violated state regulations and Sharia law in 2016 by strip-searching him. When West complained to officials, they told him to get used to it, the lawsuit claims. By assigning a guard “whose biological sex is observably female”

The Pentagon recently revised its rules that will make it easier for political appointees and congressional staffers to gain access to the Defense Department’s most secret programs, raising concerns among security officials that secrets will be compromised.
Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks issued a memorandum to senior Pentagon officials Sept. 20 stating that filling out a counterintelligence questionnaire is no longer required for gaining access to Pentagon special access programs, known as SAPs, that are the most secret activities and programs within the department.
The eased rules specifically allow Senate-confirmed political appointees, members of the House and Senate, the professional staff of the congressional defense and intelligence oversight committees

A TV watchdog group is calling on Netflix to remove “Big Mouth,” saying the animated series provides troubling depictions of sexualized children. In a detailed report, the Los Angeles-based Parents Television and Media Council (PTC) hits the cartoon for depicting fully nude children and their genitalia as they go through puberty. “It’s animated, but I cannot fathom a scenario in which we should be comfortable with even an animated depiction of a 13-year-old’s private parts,” Melissa Hensen, author of the study, told The Washington Times. “It cannot be helpful for our society to encourage adult viewers to be looking at children in this way.”

A teacher in Washington state says she was forced to take down the pro-police flag she hung in her classroom to honor her brother, over claims that it was 'too political.'(Snip)He said his sister, who has not been named, hung the Thin Blue Line flag on her bulletin board to support him, a former police officer with the Marysville Police Department who served as a resource officer during the fatal Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting in 2014. A top police union says “dozens” of Massachusetts troopers will resign after a judge denied its bid to delay the COVID-19 vaccine mandate imposed by Republican Gov. Charlie Baker. The State Police Association of Massachusetts said the troopers plan to seek employment at departments with “reasonable alternatives” such as mask-wearing or regular testing. The union is disappointed by a judge’s ruling last week that refused to delay Mr. Baker’s mandate, which requires 42,000 state workers and contractors to get vaccinated or receive an exemption by Oct. 17. Those who don’t comply face termination.(Snip)“The state police are already critically short-staffed and acknowledged this

While visiting a tavern in Wisconsin, a masked Jim Smart noticed the bartender wasn't wearing a mask. He asked if she was vaccinated.
"She said no, 'I don't believe in the science.' I said, 'What about the people in the kitchen?' She went to ask and came back and said, 'They don't want to tell you,' " said Smart. "I said, screw that and left." Smart, a restaurant designer who lost friends and business to COVID-19, has "run out of patience" with people who refuse to get vaccinated. "I'm all for personal rights, but holy smokes," he said. "It's my life I'm trying to protect.
