The White House said Wednesday it will use existing federal funds to build and provide 100,000 homes to low- and middle-income buyers and nonprofits over the next three years to bolster supply that is often snapped up by deep-pocketed investors. President Biden believes Congress can bolster affordable housing by approving his mammoth spending plan for families, but the White House said it “can’t wait to take action,” as economically battered Americans sought space during the coronavirus pandemic only to find tight supply and runaway home prices and rents.(Snip)The White House said it needs to act because investors gobbled up one in every six homes purchased

for our imported new new illegal aliens ? And the cost of building supplies isn’t high enough? Look a new boondoggle, ignore the recent catastrophe, we can make a new one .

President Dubya did pretty much the same thing with his Ownership Society program. Wound up causing the housing bubble and collapsing the economy, and the rest of us got to bail out the lenders. It was such fun and worked so well that we need to do it again.

But don’t think you or you kids will be chosen to live in them even if you want to. And now with hundreds of thousands of foreigners in the US housing will even be harder to find except at those houses in your neighborhood that have 15 immigrants living in them. Democrats destroying the US.

Do they think we were born yesterday?
The houses will be affordable because they'll be "free", courtesy of our Federal Government.

"Affordable" homes, built at a cost of about $800,000 each (just wait and see) that will look like government-built homes, and those will be inserted in neighborhoods not given to the pathologies and dysfunctions of those to be provided the housing. And ruined neighborhoods will result.
It's not unlike inserting a malignant tumor inside a healthy being.
Democrats are evil.

If our inner cities were not so overrun with criminals and corrupt politicians there would be more suitable housing opportunities. Many cities like Detroit have acres and acres of empty lots were an affordable home could be built - except that no one wants to live there.

They're called "Tenements" and everywhere they're built crime and death reign supreme.

So much wrong here. The cost will probably exceed the $746,000 per unit Los Angeles is spending on homeless housing - if they ever actually manage to build anything. And think of the opportunities for corruption and kickbacks. Hunter will be the general contractor.

The best person to build these houses is Donald J Trump. He will finish on time and below budget.
(Unless, of course, someone gave Joey some money to get the contract. Yup, it will take forever to complete and will use unlimited taxpayer dollars.)
Actually, modular homes are affordable......as long as the government gets out of the way.

The government should NEVER be building homes.
No doubt that these, if anything ever gets built at all, will be twice the cost, and half the durability of anything built by a normal, free market builder.

The Republicans as usual raise no objections because they'll get a cut of the action. Had President Trump done some well overdue slash-and-burn therapy on the size and scope of government, there would not be a
Secretary Marcia Fudge driving us farther into fiscal collapse because there would be no Department of Housing and Urban Development.

It's one thing to be able to afford buying something,
it's another to be able to afford to OWN that thing.
Win an 8 million dollar lottery and buy a 7 million dollar mansion and see how long you can live there.

Each "affordable" home will cost $1,000,000, be worth $50,000, and be given only to non-white illegal alien crack heads with felony records and a reliable Democrat voting record.
The differential in cost will be used to fund the Democrat scum bag politico retirement fund.

and what are they going to use to build these "affordable homes"? the country is so far in debt that the inflation of our money will be like post-World War I Germany and we all saw what that led to - we have to disband the demcommie party and criminalize the actions these people are, deliberately, taking to destroy our country - I'm too old to start to learn to speak Chinese

Investors are "gobbling up" houses because the Treasury and the Federal Reserve are destroying the dollar as a unit of value, so investors are buying hard assets. The government's solution? Print more money, stick some of it into the pockets of their real estate developer friends. Maybe Diversify some WHITE areas too, per Obama's weaponizing of the US Census.
