President George W Bush has recalled how he dealt with 9/11 as events unfolded, and defended his decision to 'protect the American people' by invading Afghanistan in the aftermath. Speaking in a new documentary '9/11: Inside the President's War Room' that aired in Britain on the BBC, Bush's comment are his first ahead of the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that took the lives of 2,996 people.(Snip)Since the start of Bush's 'War or Terror', around 2,800 U.S. military personnel have been killed in Afghanistan, along with thousands of allied troops, civilians, contractors and enemy fighters—only for the Taliban to be in control of the country

Nearly all the people arrested by a Beverly Hills police taskforce over the past year were Black, according to a new lawsuit which alleges egregious racial profiling in the wealthy California city. The complaint, filed Tuesday by the prominent civil rights lawyer Benjamin Crump, alleges that out of 106 people arrested by a Beverly Hills police “safe streets” taskforce, 105 were Black and one was a dark-skinned Latino person. Between March 2020 and July 2021, the unit unjustly stopped and arrested Black civilians who were roller skating, scootering, driving and jaywalking a few feet outside the crosswalk, the suit said. The unit, also known as the Rodeo Drive taskforce,

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley told reporters Wednesday that it is “possible” American forces will coordinate with the Taliban on operations against the terrorist group ISIS-K. Milley made the comment—offering no elaboration—during a Pentagon briefing alongside Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in response to a question about what communication between US military officials and Taliban leaders during the evacuation of Afghanistan meant for the relationship between the two and “the possibility of any kind of coordination in counter-terrorism operations against ISIS-K in Afghanistan.” Austin responded first, saying that “we were working with the Taliban on a very narrow set of issues,

A serial pervert has been terrorizing a Brooklyn neighborhood by repeatedly exposing himself to kids— but keeps getting cut loose thanks to New York’s lax bail reform laws, The Post has learned. Harry Zucker, a scraggly, white-haired 77-year-old with an apparent penchant for fondling himself in public in front of children, has exposed himself five times since April 27, according to court records. But the creep keeps getting sprung because judges are largely barred from imposing bail on the misdemeanor charges, the filings show.(Snip)Zucker lives right next door to PS 199’s playground and is often spotted lounging on a dingy piece of lawn furniture

Images showing a person suspended from a helicopter over Afghanistan spread widely on social media despite efforts by fact-checkers to correct false claims about it purportedly showing a Taliban execution. Republican members of Congress, including Sen. Ted Cruz and Rep. Dan Crenshaw, both of Texas, helped amplify the debunked narrative this week by sharing the same post on Twitter.(Snip)Upon closer inspection, the person hanging from the helicopter can be seen to be moving and waving, Reuters reported Tuesday. Other photos help dispel the narrative of the person being executed, the agency added. Thousands of social media users had seen the footage by then, however.

Hillary Clinton and her former aide Huma Abedin are proving that no number of scandals, failed presidential campaigns, and tell-all books can come between their longtime friendship as they reunited this weekend in the Hamptons to enjoy a leisurely lunch. Clinton, 73, and Abedin, 45, looked like the very best of friends as they joined several companions at Carissa's The Bakery in East Hampton, where they were seen laughing and chatting over coffees and pastries while soaking up the sunshine at an outdoor table.
The former Secretary of State and her longtime aide looked as though they had nary a care in the world

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday dismissed the notion that President Biden would be impeached over the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, arguing that a Democratic-controlled Congress would never allow it. The impeachment question came during an event in the Republican leader’s home state of Kentucky. “The president is not going to be removed from office. There’s a Democratic House, a narrowly Democratic Senate. That’s not going to happen,” Mr. McConnell said. “There isn’t going to be an impeachment.” The GOP leader added that the only way to change the direction of the country is at the ballot box. “In this country, the report card you get

Several cranky former baseball players have decided in recent days that avoiding a COVID shot is more important than their post-playing career.
The latest is Bob Boone, a longtime Nationals executive after a decorated playing and managing career. Boone will be quitting the front office in Washington after the team became one of three (with the Orioles and Astros) to require all non-player employees to be vaccinated. “Boone has not resigned yet, but does expect to split with the Nationals rather than get the shot,” according to the Washington Post. The Post also reported that the Nats’ minor league pitching coordinator was on unpaid leave because he was unvaccinated.

Amid an increase in violent crimes and shootings in New York City, a candidate for public office wants victimized New Yorkers to bear the burden of the crimes against them. The radical “public safety” plan put forward by socialist candidate Tiffany Cabán—a shoo-in to earn a spot on the City Council representing western Queens after November’s election—would allow for victims of violent crimes to help their attackers in the name of “restorative justice.”(Snip)Cabán’s soon-to-be colleagues blasted her idea as “insane.” “Unless Ms. Caban is running to represent the Twilight Zone, it sounds like she needs to participate in a restorative reality circle,”

The Biden administration left behind in Afghanistan hundreds of US-sponsored journalists and their families in the chaotic withdrawal from the Taliban-controlled country. Despite President Biden promising to get every journalist out, the reporters employed by the US Agency for Global Media were left stranded. Fox News confirmed that Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) journalists were unable to get aboard the last flights from Afghanistan on Monday. News of the journalists being left behind comes after national security adviser Jake Sullivan told CNN on Sunday that groups prioritized by the Biden administration had made it to evacuation planes.(Snip)The Texas lawmaker said 500 journalists

The World Health Organization has issued a warning about yet another new COVID-19 variant it fears could potentially evade vaccines. That variant, called Mu, was first detected in Colombia in January, and has been announced just as the Delta variant finally appears to be peaking in the U.S. Over 4,600 cases of the variant, whose scientific name is B.1.621, have been spotted since then, and it has spread to more than 40 countries. Almost 2,000 cases of the variant have been detected in the United States. The WHO's weekly bulletin claimed its mutations suggest it may be more resistant to vaccines, as was the case with the South African

Americans unvaccinated against COVID-19 and eyeing travel plans this Labor Day weekend should reconsider, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said during a White House briefing Tuesday. Overall, the health agency advises delaying travel until becoming fully vaccinated, defined as two weeks post-second dose, or two weeks following the single-shot developed by Johnson & Johnson.(Snip)“…People who are fully vaccinated and who are wearing masks can travel although given where we are with disease transmission right now, we would say that people need to take these risks into their own consideration as they think about traveling,” she said.
