GENEVA — A top World Health Organization official says the agency only has “a few days left of supplies” for Afghanistan and wants help to ferry in 10 or 12 planeloads of equipment and medicine for its beleaguered people. (Snip) Brennan said U.S. and other authorities have encouraged WHO and partners to look to other Afghan airports other than Kabul’s, which is facing a crush of thousands of people who are trying to get out of Afghanistan after a Taliban takeover. UN, don't you get lots of funding to get your own stuff? With your bloated bureaucracy you have no logistics people to figure out how to distribute supplies? Why don't you ask the Chinese? The WHO is pretty chummy with them and they are best buds with the Taliban right now. Problem solved.

Uhmmmm...WHO and UN?? Talibanistan is not a member nor a signatory with either. UNTIL they are...not a jot nor a tittle, of ANYTHING. and of the supplies that DO come in? Each pallet requires a bus load of "safely delivered" ex-migrants before it goes out.

Ok, 10 or 12 planeloads of equipment and medicine so the Taliban can steal them. Who's going to ensure that the supplies get to the proper people, the freakin U.N. I don't think so. Face it, the country is lost and you can thank Joe Biden for its destruction. The Afghans shouldn't feel to bad because communist Joe Biden is destroying his own country like he did theirs. You see Biden abandoned his own country 7 months ago. Joe Biden is not a nation builder, he's a nation destroyer. Got it..

Perhaps if the UN didn’t’ spend so much money on conferences, meetings, etc they could supply more food supplies to poor countries.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was caught flat-footed during the daily press briefing when she was asked about a group of California students who are trapped in Afghanistan. Psaki was asked Wednesday if she knew about an LA Times report that a group of students and their parents from California's El Cajon Valley School District are currently stranded in Afghanistan. (Snip) The reporter noted that the students and their families are "apparently stranded in Afghanistan, having traveled there? I don't I don't know for certain." New Zealand has extended its national lockdown by at least four days as it tries to contain the highly infectious Delta variant. The country first went into lockdown on August 17 after it detected a single COVID-19 case in Auckland, which health officials assumed was Delta. New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Thursday that the infected individual had returned from Sydney, Australia - a COVID-19 hotspot - and arrived in Auckland, the country's largest city, on August 7. By the time it was announced on Monday that the lockdown was being extended, the outbreak was responsible for 107 cases, according to

NEW YORK/LONDON - The Taliban stopped an Afghan United Nations staff member as he tried to reach Kabul airport on Sunday. They searched his vehicle and found his U.N. identification. Then they beat him. On Monday, three unknown men visited the home of another U.N. staff member who was at work at the time. They asked his son where his father was, and accused him of lying: "We know his location and what he does." The incidents are among dozens contained in an internal U.N. security document seen by Reuters that describes veiled threats, the looting of U.N. offices and

When Afghanistan’s now-deposed President Ashraf Ghani visited President Joe Biden in the White House in late June, he expressed some concerns about how the U.S. planned to evacuate people ahead of the troop withdrawal from his country. Ghani said he worried that a planned massive airlift of U.S. citizens and Afghan nationals who had helped the U.S. would send a disheartening signal and undermine confidence in his government’s ability to fight the Taliban, according to a senior administration official familiar with the discussions. Biden and his advisors listened, the official says, and in mid-July they decided to move ahead with

WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden on Tuesday stuck by his plan to remove the nearly 6,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan by the end of August, contingent on whether the Taliban cooperates to allow the evacuation of more Americans and their Afghan allies. Biden announced a plan in April to withdraw 2,500 U.S. troops who were still in Afghanistan after a 20-year war, but was forced to send thousands more back to evacuate those at risk as the U.S.-backed government and military quickly collapsed. The chaotic and perilous evacuation from Kabul airport that ensued has unleashed a wave of criticism and presented

Biden is expected to decide on Tuesday if he will extend his deadline in order to evacuate more people after the Taliban's takeover.(Snip) He told the BBC's Radio 4's "Today" program that the Taliban had a range of options available, "from preventing people getting to the airport all the way through to military activity that could potentially close the airport. Joe Biden was bluffing with a weak hand again. Faced with the prospect that America’s promised retreat from Afghanistan wouldn’t be complete by month’s end, the commander in chief began backtracking on his exit date last week. “If there’s American citizens left, we’re going to stay to get them all out,” he told ABC News. (Snip) Having abandoned Bagram Air Base and allowed Kabul to fall, Biden now finds himself in the unenviable position of relying on the good will of the Taliban to permit Americans to safely exit the country. This whole situation is a tinderbox. The administration rolled

The US military is advising President Joe Biden that he must decide by Tuesday whether to extend the evacuation in Afghanistan beyond August 31, according to a defense official directly familiar with the discussions. Military advisers have told the White House that the decision must be made by Tuesday in order to have enough time to withdraw the 5,800 troops currently on the ground, as well as their equipment and weapons.
