Mike Richards has announced he won't be hosting Jeopardy!, days after reports detailed sexist and other inappropriate comments he made in his former role as a podcast host. "I will be stepping down as host effective immediately," Richards said in an email to staff that was provided to NPR on Friday.

Comments:

One more scalp for the Twitterverse. No way were they going to let a straight white male host the show.

The consensus among Jeopardy fans was that Lavar Burton was the most popular of the guest hosts and would probably make a good replacement. His philosophy is ultra New Age but he doesn't seem to be active in any suspicious movements like BLM or LBTGQwhatever rights.

Amazingly, Richard Dawson was a big lib, who campaigned for George McGovern. Many of the radicals of our day, like the Clinton's, cut their teeth in the McGovern campaign. They lost 49 states, ran the victor out of office, and have enslaved us. Dawson is glad he's gone, but he played his part in this.

Does anybody watch "Family Feud" with Steve Harvey these days. The show is positively scatalogical. I realize Jeopardy is supposed to be for smart people but it's still just a TV game show. Just another cancel culture scalp to get LeVar Burton installed.

So they dug up Alex's old shows and put them on for this week. Hopefully they will get back to work next week. BTW......the local stations in Houston never miss a chance to preempt Jeopardy for anything even slightly newsy.

They had some real dimwits guest hosting that show - katie couric? really? Savannah guthrie, there are 2 great thinkers for you. actually I though Mike was the best but his comments were considered anti-Semitic and anti-Asian, I don't know exactly but his "Looking back now, there is no excuse, of course, for the comments I made on this podcast and I am deeply sorry." Should have been enough. Why doesn't Jeopardy hire a new fresh face???

A few weeks ago, Lavar Burton said something like he would be devastated" if he did not get Jeopardy. Right then I knew that that was one of those "signals" that really mean "I better be the new host." I liked Richards because he didn't bring any baggage with him. Anderson Cooper? Curic, and Guthrie? Yuck. Most of them acted so surprised when a contestant answered correctly. Burton think he's some intellectual because he played Kunta Kinte and hosted Reading Rainbow. #13 is right. There will never be another Rush or Alex. The world is dumber for their loss. I miss them both more than I thought possible.

This really ticks me off. Richards was the best one of all the guest hosts, but reading other sources, some people wanted LaVar Burton, who was the absolute worst guest host. I’m willing to bet that everyone who hosted lately has said and done much worse than Richards. If Burton ends up with the job, I will seriously puke. Trebeck knew the show was about the contestants not the host.

A group of Sarasota County parents has sued the Sarasota County School Board, arguing that its policy requiring children to wear masks while at school denies them their right to an equal education. The 59-page lawsuit was filed Oct. 21 in Sarasota County by Amy Cook and Gustavo Collazo, as well as Nicholas Eastman and Catherine Gonzales. The School Board is named as the defendant. [...] The lawsuit invokes the historic 1954 Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka race-based case that established that every child should have an equal right to education, as well as the Florida constitution, in its reasoning as to why students shouldn’t have to wear masks.

AMC Theaters will require its customers to wear face masks after catching backlash for its initial reopening plan, which did not include making masks mandatory out of fear of "political controversy." The popular theater chain debuted its “AMC Safe & Clean” policy on Friday, designed to allow for a safe reopening for its customers after shutting down theaters in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the initial plan did not make the use of masks mandatory despite numerous health experts saying they're an essential step to curtail the spread of COVID-19. However, after some intense public outcry, AMC reversed its decision later in the day.

As businesses start to reopen Monday in Miami-Dade County, indoor movie theaters are one place you won’t be able to go for a while. But an old-fashioned movie-going option is coming soon to North Miami: a drive-in theater outside Dezerland Park, the largest indoor theme park in the region which has been closed since mid-March due to COVID-19. The city of North Miami issued a permit last week to let the park host drive-in movie nights every Friday through July 3. Michael Pizzi, an attorney for Dezerland, said he worked with city officials to make sure the site will be safe.

For the adults in the house, trying to do their own jobs while helping children with class work has become one of the most trying aspects of the pandemic. Daniel Levin’s son, Linus, 7, was supposed to be doing math. Instead, he pretended to take a shower in the living room, rubbing a dry eraser under his arms like a bar of soap, which upset his 5-year-old sister, distracting her from her coloring. As much as he tried, Mr. Levin, who lives in Brooklyn, could not get Linus to finish the math. His hopes for the reading assignment were not high, either.

Thousands of Americans are stuck over there in Afghanistan and you’re letting the Taliban kick your ass while you’re lecturing governors about masks and vaccines. Do your job. The Biden administration on Thursday struggled to speed up evacuations of as many as 80,000 Americans and Afghan allies — with the suddenly pressing effort being marred by obstacles ranging from red tape and visa paperwork problems to massive crowds and often violent Taliban checkpoints that barred entry.Even American citizens with valid passports fear making the perilous journey to the airport for fear of the armed Taliban fighters who surround the Kabul airport.David Marshall Fox, an American who moved to Afghanistan in 2013, told The Post on Thursday that he’s abandoned hope of getting onto an evacuation flight, saying the danger of his young son getting shot

Jim Geraghty’s written two posts today making the case that something is up. I’m not sold on his first post. His second is more persuasive. The first post argues that Biden’s chat with George Stephanopoulos was filled with enough contradictions and awkward stammering that, paired with his low visibility lately, we might reasonably conclude that his health has become an issue. Whether you agree comes down to a gut check on how you felt about the interview. I didn’t see it as out of the ordinary for Biden. His answers were emphatically not good but he didn’t seem checked out to me. If anything, he was combative

Incredibly cynical and depressing. And quite possibly correct. “The public opinion is pretty damn clear that Americans wanted out of the ongoing war and don’t want to get back in. As we approach the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks it is interesting to look back and see how American culture has changed in that two-decade time span. Back then mainstream culture (sorta) rallied around God and country against our enemy, the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Today the culture sees those same people that believe in God and country as bad or worse than the Taliban.
