Joe Biden on Thursday delivered remarks on his administration’s Covid-19 vaccination efforts.
Biden was asked about vaccine mandates in the private sector.
Joe Biden said he supports vaccine mandates in the private sector then said he isn’t sure if the government can implement mandates on a federal level.
“I would like to see them continue to move in that direction… it’s still a question whether the Federal government can mandate the whole country. I don’t know that yet,” Biden said.

Goodrich's father, David, said police recovered his daughter's wallet and other possessions from the nearby home of Joseph Jimenez, 20, who they arrested less than 24 hours after the shooting

In March 2020, as the pandemic began, Anthony Fauci, the chief medical adviser to the president of the United States, explained in a 60 Minutes interview that he felt community use of masks was unnecessary. A few months later, he argued that his statements were not meant to imply that he felt the data to justify the use of cloth masks was insufficient. Rather, he said, had he endorsed mask wearing (of any kind), mass panic would ensue and lead to a surgical and N95 mask shortage among health care workers, who needed the masks more. A new coronavirus variant that originated in Colombia has been detected in South Florida. Variant B.1.621 has yet to receive a Greek letter designation from the World Health Organization (WHO), but it is starting to make an impact in Miami. Carlos Miyoga, CEO of Jackson Health System in Miami, told Local 10 that the strain accounts for around 10 percent of cases in the area. Health experts suspect that constant travel between Miami and Colombia caused the variant to travel in the state and are urging residents to get vaccinated. The variant was first discovered in January in the Colombia, where, at its peak in late June,

The Walt Disney Company clapped back at “Black Widow” star Scarlett Johansson, slamming the actress’ breach of contract lawsuit for showing “callous disregard for the horrific and prolonged global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Those bonuses were tied to hitting box office benchmarks that “Black Widow” likely won’t achieve. Disney is countering that it complied with the terms of Johansson’s deal to star in the Avengers spinoff film.

President Biden on Thursday called on state and local governments to use funds from his $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan to offer $100 payments to individuals in order to incentivize coronavirus vaccinations.
The payments would be offered to newly vaccinated Americans to provide “an extra incentive to boost vaccination rates, protect communities, and save lives,” the Treasury Department said in an announcement Thursday afternoon.
“Treasury stands ready to give technical assistance to state and local governments so that they may use the funds effectively to support increased vaccination in their communities, and Treasury will partner with the Department of Health and Human Services throughout this effort,” it said.

The county could conduct a ceremony and put up a new sign this fall to mark the renaming of the airport for the former longtime U.S. senator from Nevada, said Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a leading advocate for the renaming. The County Commission unanimously voted in February to rename the county-owned and operated airport for Democrat Reid, a Searchlight native who spent more than 30 years in Washington, mostly as a senator but also as a U.S. representative. President Biden announced Thursday that he has instructed military officials to craft a plan for making COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for service personnel.
The news comes as Biden also announced that all federal employees will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or face weekly or twice weekly testing as well as mask mandates and distancing rules in the workplace.
“After months and months of cases going down, we’re seeing a spike in COVID cases,” Biden said in remarks at the White House. “Why? Because of this new form, this new variant called the delta variant.”
The new rules for federal employees will affect more than 4 million Americans.

You’ve undoubtedly heard the term “toxic fandom” at some point in your internet travels, and if you’ve expressed a negative opinion on any recent entries into a franchise, you’ve likely been accused of being in one.
What is a toxic fandom? In a word; fantasy. It’s the idea that your disliking the latest Star Wars entries have more to do with the fact that your fanboy/girl nature makes you overprotective of the brand and that any change is going to cause you to foam at the mouth and complain, boycott, or worse, personally attack actors and creators.
Oh, and you’re likely sexist, racist, or homophobic to boot.

The current re-masking of America is driven by hysteria over the Indian variant of covid (renamed the Delta variant when it occurred to liberals that if “China virus” is racist, “Indian variant” must be racist too). It is entirely foreseeable that viruses will mutate, usually to a less lethal form, since it is bad for the virus to kill you. That is what is happening with the Indian form of covid.
A few simple charts, courtesy of the CDC, tell the story. “Cases,” many of which are false positives, are rising rather sharply: But deaths are not: The tally of “covid deaths” is inflated, since doctors write “covid”

The reinstatement of the mask requirement comes a day after the CDC reversed course on some masking guidelines, recommending that even vaccinated people return to wearing masks indoors in parts of the U.S. where COVID-19 is surging. White says the mandate will allow the facilities to remain open to serve the public to reduce the heavy customer volume caused by the COVID-19 pandemic over the last year.

ALBANY — Gov. Cuomo is pushing private employers to bring workers back to the office by Labor Day — and calling on restaurants and others to deny unvaccinated patrons. Citing economic concerns, the governor implored businesses to encourage in-person work by the end of the summer during a virtual address Wednesday before members of the Association for a Better New York. “Everyone has to be back in the office,” Cuomo said. “I understand remote learning, I understand remote working, I understand trepidation, but the numbers are down, and we know how to do this safely. “We need private sector companies

Anyone thinking a month ago that the country was putting the tyranny of lockdowns and mask mandates in the past was being unrealistically optimistic. The U.S. is overflowing with an army of nags, busybodies, and stuffy schoolmarms clinging bitterly to the power they’ve had over others since the pandemic began, and the Delta variant arrived for them just in time.

This will not be an anti-vaccine post. It will, however, be an attack against the CDC for using discredited and inapplicable authority to justify its latest mask and vaccine guidelines and for ignoring credible opposing authority. (snip) the basis for the CDC’s latest guidelines about masks and vaccines is a study that not only was not peer-reviewed, but that also has nothing to do with America, right down to its studying a different vaccine (snip) there’s the little problem (which Tucker mentions) of the millions of illegal aliens pouring over the border carrying COVID with them. While you’re being pressured to take a shot you don’t want

The January 6 commission held a dramatic first hearing with lots of crocodile tears and a few real ones. As usual, the Democrats, and the two Democrat-friendly Republicans, seemed to agree on an emotional approach to the topic at hand to gain advantage over their political opponents. However, they failed to ask and answer important questions. (snip) Here are some primary questions are unlikely to come up:
First, who shot Ashli Babbitt and why? (snip) Second, did congressional leaders and other elected representatives, or their staffs, instigate the storming of the Capitol? The fact that the security profile at the Capitol that day was woefully inadequate

I’ve said it before, but once again for emphasis: If you have school-aged kids and you live in a blue state, you’re courting disaster by not moving before the fall semester. Which is now only a month or so away.
It shouldn’t be a question at this point that schools will reopen come hell or high water. The American Academy of Pediatrics has endorsed it, the CDC has endorsed it, even AFT President Randi Weingarten has endorsed it — conditionally, depending on whether enough precautions are taken to keep teachers (and students, but mostly teachers) safe.
Well, all people aged 12 and up are eligible

Indeed it doesn’t, and in more ways than former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb lays out here. Gottlieb tells CNBC’s Squawk Box that the new guidance doesn’t appear based on any real evidentiary shift, and is also doomed to failure anyway. Masks will have a “negligible impact” on the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19, and the emphasis should really be elsewhere: Gottlieb, who said that he expects the surge in coronavirus cases from the Delta variant to dissipate in two to three weeks, noted that vaccinated people “just need to be mindful” that they can still transmit

Quite frankly, the Democrats’ flip-flops when it comes to the Wuhan coronavirus are just out of control.
Here’s Joe Biden in May explaining to us that it’s “vaxed or masked” “Folks, if you’re fully vaccinated — you no longer need to wear a mask,” Biden said. The Biden team then basically celebrated on July 4th as though they’d beaten the pandemic in a “Mission Accomplished” kind of a way, with a party of 1000 people who weren’t masked. But now, they’re pushing that even if you are fully vaccinated, you need to be masked in areas where the Delta variant is high or substantial.
