One of Fox News Channel’s top personalities called for mandatory vaccination against COVID-19, upon threat of forced home isolation. Geraldo Rivera made the demand Tuesday reacting to a story in the New York Post that nearly one-third of New York’s nursing-home workers hadn’t been vaccinated. Mr. Rivera agreed on Twitter that this situation was “absolutely insane” and issued the crackdown demand.(Snip)Tuesday’s call to bar employment, shopping and schooling to the unvaccinated is not Mr. Rivera’s first demand for draconian state measures against those who do not take the COVID-19 shots. In February, according to tweets collected by Twitchy, he called for vaccine passports

Few illegal immigrants caught and released at the border on promises of turning themselves in to ICE later are actually showing up, defying Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ assurances of a “high rate” of compliance and leaving the department with few options for tracking the migrants down. At best, the appearance rate is less than 25%, according to data from members of Congress and from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. It may actually be much lower. That means thousands of illegal immigrants have already defied their first orders from Homeland Security and become fugitives, and that bodes ill for the chances of getting them to comply with their court dates

A scathing new report commissioned by members of Congress has claimed that the Navy's surface warfare forces have systemic training and leadership issues, including a focus on diversity that overshadows basic readiness skills. The report prepared by Marine Lt. Gen. Robert Schmidle and Rear Adm. Mark Montgomery, both retired, came in response to recent Naval disasters, including the burning of the USS Bonhomme Richard in San Diego, two collisions involving Navy ships in the Pacific and the surrender of two small craft to Iran.(Snip)The report found that a staggering 94 percent of the subjects believed the recent Naval disasters were 'part of a broader problem in Navy culture

America’s dwindling domestic shipbuilding industry has lawmakers worried about the Navy’s ability to keep up with China and Russia. Now that China has surpassed the U.S. to have the world’s largest navy, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle agree that the service must make strides toward building a larger fleet. Reaching the goal, however, is hobbled by a domestic shipbuilding industry that has been in decline since the mid-1990s. The Navy currently operates just four public shipyards tasked with maintaining the nuclear-powered fleet and roughly 20 private shipyards certified to build and maintain the service’s conventionally powered ships. China, by comparison, operates more than 1,200 shipyards

A “major gang war” between ruthless Bronx crews that are fearless of cops has left a 13-year-old boy and two other teens dead in just the past five days, law-enforcement sources told The Post on Monday. “We can’t keep them in [jail], and they’re going after each other," a high-ranking police source said, referring to juvenile suspects who end up back on the streets after being sent to family court instead of being prosecuted as adults. A city prosecutor added, “They don’t go to jail, so they do robberies, get in fights and carry guns. The first teen to die in the bloody gang-fueled

The U.N. human rights chief on Monday demanded comprehensive reparations be made to compensate countries that have suffered what she called the deadly legacies of slavery, colonial rule and racial discrimination. Former Chilean Socialist President Michelle Bachelet presented to the U.N. Human Rights Council a report she hopes will change the definition of racism and highlight its impact. It comes after her intervention last month calling on the world to immediately dismantle systemic racism against people of African descent and “make amends” to the oppressed while groups like Black Lives Matter should receive “funding, public recognition and support.” Others have also joined her demands for massive financial redistributions

Just over half of the world's urban greenhouse gas emissions come from just 25 mega-cities—23 of which are located in China—a study has reported. The cities that emit the most greenhouse gases included Handan, Suzhou, Dalian, Beijing and Tianjin in China—but also Tokyo, Japan, and Moscow, Russia.
China's President Xi Jinping has pledged to cap carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060—part of its commitment to the Paris Agreement.(Snip) At present, China is running a whopping 1,058 coal-fired power plants—equal to more than half of the world's entire capacity.

The Birchwood Cafe in south Minneapolis threw a Juneteenth block party this year to mark the holiday that recognizes the date enslaved people in Texas learned they were free. Then, just days later, the well-known restaurant shut down, with most of its staff laid off and a fight spilling onto social media about racism, safety and the stresses staff faced during the pandemic and a year of racial reckoning. Tracy Singleton, the owner, said her decision to shutter Birchwood comes as she considers reorganization options. Even before the Juneteenth party, she said she had been planning to lay everyone off after Father's Day and invite them to reapply

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine will soon have a new warning from the Food and Drug Administration after the shot was linked to a rare but serious side effect in a handful of patients, it was revealed Monday. The side effect, Guillain-Barré syndrome—a condition that occurs when the immune system attacks the body’s nerves—has been detected in about 100 people after 12.8 million jabs of the single-dose shot were administered, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told the Washington Post.(Snip)While most people fully recover, some people have permanent nerve damage and the condition is particularly risky for those over 50,

The Federal Communications Commission waived its rules so Amazon can build radar sensors that the company says would be used to track people’s sleep.
The federal government’s exemption for Amazon paves the way for the tech giant to monitor users’ movements in the bedroom with extreme precision—all without users having to press a button. The FCC accepted Amazon’s claim that the tech would be used to improve users’ health and wellness.(Snip) Adding activity-tracking capabilities to Amazon‘s Alexa-enabled devices provides an avenue for Amazon to challenge other companies vying for sleep-tracking users’ business. An NYPD cop was shot with a BB gun in Brooklyn Sunday night, the latest in a series of BB attacks targeting law enforcement in the Big Apple, sources said. The officer was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was treated for minor lacerations and was expected to recover, according to law enforcement sources. The BB gun shooting on a cop in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Sunday came just one day after an NYPD housing officer was shot in the neck on Blake Avenue in Brownsville. The White House issued a memo to state and local officials across the country Monday urging them to use some of the $1.9 trillion COVID relief package to combat crime as violence continues to soar in America’s cities.
The memo details how states and municipalities can use the relief funds to boost law enforcement, invest in community policing, enforce gun laws and assist recently released offenders reenter the community.
