The Girl Scouts have an unusual problem this year: 15 million boxes of unsold cookies.
The 109-year-old organization says the coronavirus — not thinner demand for Thin Mints — is the main culprit. As the pandemic wore into the spring selling season, many troops nixed their traditional cookie booths for safety reasons.
"This is unfortunate, but given this is a girl-driven program and the majority of cookies are sold in-person, it was to be expected," said Kelly Parisi, a spokeswoman for Girl Scouts of the USA.

I was once a cookie-selling Girl Scout but I will not support what they have become.

I vote with my dollar and haven’t bought a box of their cookies for the past few years even long before the pandemic.

The boxes get smaller and the price gets bigger. GSA only gets 1/4 of revenue. Local scouts get about 2/3 of the 1/4th. Just like the BSA, cookie sells enriches the senior managers and cookie bakers. The bakers over charge, then spreads the wealth via "free" GSA advertising, and national "donations". The result is the bakers make no profit on paper. If you want to support your local scouts, just give them $5. They will be better off.

Yes, the OP nails it. Iquit buying from Girl Scouts due to the extreme leftists in charge. I will not fund the leftists.

Agree #3. Aldi's thin mint style cookies are great and a whole lot cheaper.

Cut the prices in half...might sell more.
If they REALLY want to sell them, start being patriotic.

My daughter did not participate in Girl Scouts this last year because all of the meetings were online. Looks like we weren't the only ones to skip Girl Scouts this year.

Yes, OP, our household too. I want no part of indoctrinating those little girls and so no sale.
The cookies are no longer high quality in taste or ingredients.

I was also a cookie-selling girl scout, back when the cookies were $1 a box and much bigger. I usually sold around a hundred or so boxes walking around our neighborhood and knocking on doors.
These days,, if i want "Girl Scout" cookies, I head to Dollar General where they sell identical versions for $1.50.

Loss of sales must be a gay agenda thing? I enjoy watching ''prominent'' personalities jumping in to rescue the cookie department of SJW R Us.

15 million boxes at $5 a box - that's quite a bit of inventory with an expiring shelf life. Do the right thing. Instead of asking us to buy a box of Thin Mints for the troops, give all of the remaining boxes to our deployed military.

Given their unbreakable ties to Planned Parenthood, we stopped buying their cookies years ago.
Both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are shells of what they once were. When they both surrendered to the lie-beral hate-filled bullies, they lost our support!!!

I virtually bought several boxes. Didn’t gain any weight, and didn’t contribute to the rainbow marxists.

The box and the cookies get smaller each year and the price keeps going up. No thanks! (that coming from someone who used to buy 8-12 boxes a year)

It's a girl driven program huh. So what is the boy scouts program going to be called? The boy scouts sell popcorn, and since girls are allowed in the boy scouts now, that can't be called a boy driven program anymore. Not that it ever was ever referred to as that.

I quit buying them back in the 90’s when the leaders joined up with Planned Parenthood and the LGBT crowd. Now the GSA is just one more player in the leftist indoctrination of children.

FTA: Around 1.7 million girls were enrolled in Girl Scouts in 2019, down almost 30% from 2009.
As a former Scout this makes me a bit sad. I loved being a Girl Scout however, I realize that the organization I loved disappeared decades ago. There were no politics in Scouts in the old days, just friendship and fun.

$5 for maybe a $2 box of cookies, of which the GS get $1. Politics aside, someone is making a killing.

Will never buy from them again. And, my granddaughters (if I ever have any) will never be a part of the organization, unlike their mother.

As the powers that be have disallowed the "Boy Scouts," forcing them to admit girls, I will sooner buy a Lebron t-shirt than Girl Scout cookies. Sorry.
