Once upon a time long ago, we agreed there were certain immutable laws of human nature. These laws were based on facts, reality, and data.
In other words, we accepted common sense about the way the world worked according to logical and even “scientific” principles. That assumption defined us as “enlightened” rather than Dark Age reductionists and ideological- or myth-driven zealots.
Not now. “Progressives,” especially the media, are most often regressive, anti-Enlightenment, and intolerant people, who start with a deductive premise and then make the evidence conform to it—or else. (Snip) we used to believe that if the government printed more money without commensurate sudden rises in population or economic

Dark Ages: that's what I have been thinking too in what our country is going through. I don't think the Millenniums have even heard of the Dark Ages let alone be exposed to the history.

The mass of Progressives/Marxists are and always have been a self-absorbed, elitist, and parasitic lot. Whether here and now or elsewhere, like cockroaches, they have always been on the fringes of society, sorely discontented opportunists, incompetent at the life skills that might let them understand and respect the delicate but complex relationships between a tough-minded self-interest, individualist drive, national loyalty, civic pride, compassionate impulse and predisposition to optimistic faith, which together mirror human nature and are characteristics that have helped us build a strong, free nation.
In some ways, they are like a band of entitled, bratty children who have learned to turn the switches, and to use the language, like "science" and "democracy", but only to sound important, and to manipulate for mean-spirited and self-gratifying ends, but without any real comprehension or relevant skillsets.
Consequently, they are clever, devious and even more than a little dangerous, but they are not capable of leading our people, defending our Nation, or of managing a successful and sustainable economy, within the context of a Constitutional Republic.
That their incompetence is compounded by arrogance and a seething tyrannical urge partially explains why they have endlessly sought to wreck the Republic and rewrite the rules by which we have steadily grown and, on the whole, prospered like no other nation in history. Their world view, and therefore their deepest loyalties, are inherently incompatible with the very concept of our Nation, because they don't get it, they don't believe in it, and they are missing any elemental connection with it and its significance.
As a result of their success at subjugating our educational system, and in subverting common sense national border policies, they now have spawned many more followers and useful idiots who haven't a clue what the American soul and spirit are about.
We now find ourselves with a generation or two of people being elected as national "leaders" who, either because they haven't actually been part of the American experience long enough, or through educational neglect, have not even absorbed what used to be the contents of a simple high school civics course.
So, the Progressives/Marxists, as they have throughout their history, seem inherently predisposed to conduct themselves in a manner more suited to a criminal enterprise than a functioning and contributing political party. They represent only themselves, and not anything which might be considered a significant portion of the American people. They laugh at us and think us blind or stupid as they steal our livelihoods, ruin our national integrity, cheat our elections, and break our hearts.
In the absence of those virtues we would ascribe to the leaders and citizens of a noble and free nation, they lie into the cameras and embarrass us with discord, violence, deceit, pettiness, and sundry assaults on our persons and our sensibilities. The picture of a self-important and peevish Ms. Pelosi standing behind President Trump in the House chamber comes to mind. Watching her shredding a copy of the State of the Union address on national TV as he spoke to us all, I thought, "How petty... how cheap...how degrading - and how typical."
In the end, these Leftists are historically only capable of damage and destruction, egged on by their soulless media pals. They scurry about gathering power to themselves, like so many rodents creating their little piles of trash, making a great mess of the country but creating no value, and impressing no one. They seem to revel in the fact that their promises are lies, their products only poison. Their particular contributions through the decades and across national boundaries have been wars, societal breakdown, wrecked economies, and mass human heartbreak and tragedies.
What a disgusting and disappointing waste of humanity. One way or another, they must be made to pay - and it cannot come soon enough.

My morning dose of Victor Davis Hanson is always welcome. The title of "Smartest Guy in America" flip-flops between him and Thomas Sowell.

VDH as usual ... off the charts !
FTA ... But arrogance, wealth, and received authority are always the super-spreaders and force-multipliers of false knowledge, and none more so than in the present age.

Hanson has summed up nicely the state of affairs of the U.S. in 2021. This is the saddest Memorial Day in my lifetime and perhaps since 1868. We are supposedly honoring the sacrifices of our fallen soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen but what we are really doing, by not sacrificing of ourselves by burying progressivism either figuratively or literally, is dishonoring our hard fought freedoms and the essence of what it used to be to be an American. Instead of cooking out or enjoying family, we should be making a run on bull dozers to level the citadels of progressivism/communism that sit atop our once great cities and bury the bodies of those who are willing to defend the destruction of and the march into totalitarianism of our one and only country.

The Left has been destroying everything and are definitely heading us into a new Dark Age.
The next generations are far less ACTUALLY educated than my generation, meaning that they know less history, less about art, and architecture, and science than I was taught in my university years.
The country and the world are worse for the universities largely being brainwashing locations to destroy minds, not places to move the species and culture forward, building on the shoulders of the great men who came before us.
Bleak times ahead, it would seem.
