Leading children's authors have hit out at publishers for giving celebrities like Meghan Markle 'whopping advances' on books based on their fame and regardless of the quality of writing. The Duchess of Sussex, 39, announced earlier this month that she has penned her first book The Bench, and said it was inspired by Prince Harry and her son Archie which would explore the 'special bond between father and son' as 'seen through a mother's eyes'. It is not known if Meghan has received an advance for the book and whether any of the proceeds will be donated to charity, a

This has been going on a while. Celebutards throw-together a kid's book for publicity and a nice pot of cash. Now Me-Ghan plans to cash in. Meanwhile, thoughtful writers are kicked to the curb.

Megan is writing this book why? Any "insights" he might have into life based on her experiences with Harry and Archie are based on a fantasy life of being pampered, nannies, mansions, and money. Now if publishers would pay a regular mother to write a book from the mothers point of view where she needs to change the diapers and raise a child while wondering about the bills and her husbands job, the car and house payments, while being lectured to by rich celebrities on how they should be living, maybe I would consider it.

I buy children's books for our library and there have been a LOT of celebrities 'writing' books. Most of the books are pretty bad and banal. I don't see myself ordering this book. Budgets are tight.

It's not just children's books, it's all books! And God forbid the book be conservative! Look at the number of MSM hosts who all have no problem getting book contracts. Hunter Biden has one for God's sake!

There will always be people stupid enough to buy - and as #6 reports - support this drivel. We simply cannot protect them from throwing away their money. It is to be hoped that Sparkle's reputation has run off a lot or potential buyers.

LONDON — DarkSide, the hacker group behind the recent Colonial Pipeline ransomware attack, received a total of $90 million in bitcoin ransom payments before shutting down last week, according to new research. Colonial Pipeline was hit with a devastating cyberattack earlier this month that forced the company to shut down approximately 5,500 miles of pipeline in the United States, crippling gas delivery systems in Southeastern states. The FBI blamed the attack on DarkSide, a cybercriminal gang believed to be based in Eastern Europe, and Colonial reportedly paid a $5 million ransom to the group. DarkSide operates what’s known as a

DENVER – In a unanimous vote on Monday night, Denver City Council passed a bill aimed at reducing the use of plastic utensils, napkins, straws and other single-use accessories. The new ordinance changes Denver’s Revised Municipal Code to require restaurants and third-party delivery platforms to only provide the single-use items upon request. The International Solid Waste Association estimates that consumption of single-use plastics grew between 250-300% during the pandemic. Amazon has a goal to get rid of a certain percentage of employees every year - and three managers told Insider they felt so much pressure to meet the goal that they hired people just to fire them: "We might hire people that we know we're going to fire, just to protect the rest of the team," one manager said. The practice is informally called "hire to fire," in which managers hire people, internally or externally, they intend to fire within a year, just to help meet their annual turnover target, called unregretted attrition (URA). High unemployment. Rising prices. Gas lines. They're a bad memory for Americans old enough to remember the 1970s - but they're also likely causing a few sleepless nights in the White House, as the United States' economic recovery from the unprecedented coronavirus recession hits some bumps. The jolts are dampening consumer confidence, ramping up inflation fears, and helping Republicans build their case against President Joe Biden and his ambitious plans to revamp the U.S. economy with trillions in new spending. As the 1970s show, high joblessness and rising prices the United States saw in April can be a potent political force.

Ever since Joe Biden floated his $1.9 trillion COVID-relief bill, worrywarts like yours truly have been warning about the possibility of inflation. In case you weren’t alive in the 1970s, inflation erodes the value of money. Simply put, your paycheck is worth less today than it was last week or last month. This demoralizing and frustrating decline in purchasing power can have the psychological effect of causing consumers to spend money quickly, for fear that prices will rise. There is also increased pressure on welfare and wages to keep pace with the rising cost of living. Once this cycle gets

The media went into a frenzy this weekend when the bonny Prince Harry gave a huge harrumph to the First Amendment. On a show appropriately called the "Armchair Expert," Harry declared the First Amendment "bonkers" and expressed frustration about how it protects the media in its "feeding frenzy" over his life. Harry’s criticism of the First Amendment can be dismissed as the unfamiliarity of a royal refugee. However, it is actually far more serious than that. Harry and his American wife Meghan Markle have attacked media rights in England and succeeded under the laws of the United Kingdom. They are now joining a growing anti-free speech movement

IDF spokesman Lt. Col. For decades engineers have used petroleum to make everyday products. It's still commonly used in everything from rubbers and plastics to chemicals and asphalt. But this useful product comes from crude oil, which is often criticized by activists and experts as harmful to the environment, citing oil spills and fracking incidents. Recent studies from the last decade have shown that petroleum isn't as efficient as some once thought. Now, companies, engineers and scientists aim to replace it with plant-based oils, specifically soybeans. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. recently announced its goal to replace all petroleum-based products with soybean oil by 2040.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A judge has tossed the case against one of 18 people cited in Colorado Springs after a Black Lives Matter protest on Interstate 25, calling it a violation of her free-speech rights. El Paso County Court Senior Judge Stephen Sletta on Wednesday dismissed the lone misdemeanor filed against 21-year-old Molly Avion. In a two-page ruling, he found that the state statute used against her — which makes it illegal to obstruct highways — was overly broad in a way that could chill the exercise of the First Amendment and invite “arbitrary” enforcement.CORRECTIONS*
