The Supreme Court on Monday shut down a police attempt to enter homes without a warrant, siding against the Biden administration.
The court, in a unanimous decision, found that police, using the "community caretaking" exception to the Fourth Amendment's prohibitions on unreasonable searches and seizures, were not allowed to enter a Rhode Island man's home and take his guns. Justice Clarence Thomas wrote the court's opinion, saying that police had violated the "very core of the Fourth Amendment."
The case arose out of a 2015 incident in which a Rhode Island married couple argued over attempted suicide.

Texas recorded zero COVID-19 deaths on Sunday, months after President Joe Biden criticized the state for relaxing pandemic restrictions too soon.
State healthcare data shows that the state’s zero COVID death day was its first in about 14 months. The state also saw a 13-month low in cases and an 11-month low in hospitalizations, according to Gov. Greg Abbott.
“Thanks, Texans!” Abbott said in a Twitter post accompanied by the new data.
The news comes just two months after Biden accused the state of “Neanderthal thinking” for relaxing restrictions earlier than other states, including ending the mask mandate and allowing businesses to open at 100% capacity.

It is quite rare to see a state turn down federal money. It is rarer still to see states turn it down in the name of improving their own economies.
Fortunately, several states are now doing just that. Why? Because President Joe Biden’s economic stimulus is making what’s rational for workers irrational for the economy as a whole.
At this point, the fact is unavoidable: The Biden administration’s foolish decision to extend increased unemployment benefits through the summer is clearly retarding the job market’s recovery. It made sense to pay out something to workers in exchange for government restrictions on their livelihood.

We are already seeing colleges and universities requiring the COVID-19 vaccine for students to attend classes in the fall. The vaccine is being tested for children under 16, and there may be school districts that attempt to require it in the fall. All of this pressure to vaccinate the young, given their relative resilience to severe disease and near-zero fatality rate from COVID-19, is unprecedented. The health bureaucracy is not nearly as insistent about the flu vaccine, even though it often makes children much sicker and often carries higher fatality rates in children.

Critical race theory is the absurd idea that the United States is a fundamentally racist country and that our society is designed to uphold white supremacy. While the reasonable among us dismiss this idea, schools across the country are teaching it and big liberal corporations like Disney and Coca-Cola have tried pushing it.
And sadly, it seems like our nation’s “top infectious disease expert” is pushing it, too.
Over the weekend, Dr. Anthony Fauci delivered a virtual commencement address to the graduates of Emory University.

Norfolk, Va., police Lieutenant William Kelly lost his job last month after a data breach at the crowdfunding site GiveSendGo revealed that Kelly had contributed to help the legal defense of Kyle Rittenhouse, the then-17-year-old boy who opened fire amid riots in Kenosha, Wisc., seemingly in self-defense. Rittenhouse faces murder charges in the deaths of two men.
On May 7, Kelly’s lawyers filed a due process grievance against the decision to fire him, demanding a full reinstatement, restoration of benefits and seniority, and more. Kelly had been 10 months shy of 20 years with the department. At that point, he could have received retirement savings without a penalty.

I’m on vacation. No TV, no computer, just my phone, my iPad, my kids, and my grandchildren -- although, of course, I still skim the headlines every day. I am also seeing how eerily familiar the way people in another state are living, but it’s another blue state, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Since the trip began, I’ve been struck by the abject abandonment of common sense in favor of rote obedience to absurd rules. We are trained monkeys, following senseless pronouncements that improve nothing.
Start with the airport. For some reason, my TSA Pre-check status didn’t make it onto my ticket.

I’m in one of those moods where I wish there weren’t editors or language standards, because there are quite a few leftists I’d really like to encourage to go “make love” to themselves and end it in an unpleasant way. Since this is a column and not a book, and there are editors and language standards, I’ll limit my fire to just one, Dr. Anthony Fauci, save the rest for later, temper my language a bit and make expeditious use of the thesaurus. Needless to say, I view him as the epicenter of a rear-end and truly one of the most destructive creatures swimming in the swamp of Washington.

Remember the old 1970s sitcom "Welcome Back, Kotter"? It aired on ABC from 1975 to 1979. The president of the United States throughout half that period was the infamous peanut-farmer-turned-worst-president-ever Jimmy Carter.
Perfect timing. Because 2021 is clearly the new 1977.
The new version of that sitcom is "Welcome Back, Carter. Except Add Dementia." It stars our current president, Joe "Basement" Biden, as today's hapless, pathetic, destructive Jimmy Carter.
Basement Biden and Jimmy Carter are alike in so many ways it's almost surreal.

A 17-year-old black kid was shot by Georgia police multiple times after pointing a gun at an officer, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations reported, but the mainstream media has not reported on it.
Isiah Gabriel Young was found Monday night in Cartersville, located about an hour north of Atlanta.
There was reportedly a warrant for his arrest for stealing a motorcycle and assaulting a Bartow County deputy. Young had been in violation of his juvenile probation in the past as well, prompting a warrant in Cherokee County.

I love dogs — I’m pretty sure we’ve established that. And I would even go so far as to argue I know them pretty well, though I’m certainly no dog whisperer. In all my years of walking dogs, I had never before heard (or considered) a valuable tip I learned today at church.
Yes, I said at church. Stay with me here.
Today’s lesson was another from Nehemiah — we’ve spent several weeks in that book. Specifically, it was on Nehemiah Chapter 9, in which the Israelites confess their sins and offer a prayer that summarizes much of the Old Testament and the relationship between God and His chosen people.

The owner of a Puget Sound-area diner has turned the tables on “tattletales” who called the Washington State COVID-19 snitch line to report that “people are eating.”
Craig Kenady’s savage and proportional reply to his critics may make them think twice before calling Governor Jay Inslee’s COVID snitch line on That One Place Diner again.
Tattletales have made 260-plus complaints to Inslee’s COVID violation line about the car-themed restaurant at a Port Orchard strip mall since May 2020, when Kenady defied the governor’s rules about shutting down.
