Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine may be the next shot to receive emergency authorization in the U.S..
The company is preparing to file the FDA paperwork in coming weeks and could beat out other vaccine manufacturers such as AstraZeneca.
Public health officials and researchers see the Novavax shot as an option to fill in supply gaps in the U.S. and worldwide after safety concerns emerged with the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
“I do think it’s going to play a larger role,” Lawrence Gostin, a global health law professor at Georgetown University, told Politico.
I'm pretty sure the vials we already have will be quite sufficient for the demand....unless they plan on government forced vaccinations.

Another vaccine that hasn't been tested for possible long range side effects? No, thanks. I will wait a few more years, and see what happens to those who took these vaccines. Remember Thalidomide, anyone? I hope they are safe, but I don't have many more years as it is, so why take a chance on hastening the end?

"...global health law professor..." Is it just me, or does that sound like a strange job title?

The story doesn't say how this vaccine was developed and the technology used to produce it--sloppy reporting.

Are the bio companies working on a vaccine for Trump Derangement Syndrome? They should.

Kind of late, isn't it?
Btw, if they start calling for boosters, do I have to stick with the manufacturer I used for the original shots?
Nothing like playing Russian roulette, and that's exactly what we are doing with these vaccines.

This is the first vaccine presented which is actually a vaccine, in the conventional sense. The company has done a complex two stage process to make isolated "spike proteins" (which are on the outside of the Wuhan flu virus, and which enable it to link to and enter human cells). After creating a lot of spike proteins, they combine them into a "nanoparticle" which is basically nothing but spike proteins array around a tiny core, which is externally similar to the Wuhan virus with a surface studded with spike proteins.
This is a bit like wrapping a wolf skin over a softball to make something that might smell like a wolf on the outside, and be good for training dogs to track wolves.
Wuhan virus "skin" wrapped around a nothing core to simulate the virus and train your immune system.
Then they inject these balls of spike proteins into your body with an adjuvant which helps attract the attention of your immune system to these balls of spike proteins. No mRNA to make your cells manufacture spike proteins. Just a ball of externally made spike proteins. This Novavax approach used the concept used in normal vaccines.
THIS is pretty much how old school, real vaccines work, although made in a more modern, high tech way.
If I was more frightened of getting the Wuhan virus, I might very well take this vaccine. But, at this point, I have managed to go a year when the claims were that it "is everywhere" and not get it, or at least if I got a few viruses (very likely) my immune system stomped them flat and I didn't get the disease. I think my odds of getting it now are far lower.
But, if I WERE afraid of this virus, I think this one seems, at first look, to pass muster as a real vaccine. Novavax is a US company headquartered in Gaithersburg, MD which is about 25 miles from Ft. Detrich which is the US biowarfare center. Perhaps formed or staffed by (patriotic?) docs who once worked at Ft. Detrich? Unlikely coincidence to have a vaccine company formed right next to a biowarfare lab without a connection. I consider that to be good, since I think that the biowarfare folks are competent and highly likely motivated by patriotism.
In any case, this is a type of vaccine technology that I would most likely trust, far more than the never before successful mRNA technology.
Here's a good article on the vaccine.....skip over the other vaccines, down to the Novavax....

And here is a much more detailed look, from a source that I don't trust on many things, NYT, but this MIGHT not get the attention of their political commisars, might be accurate. It sounds accurate.

Another imperative "vaccine" (under the new definition) for an insipid disease for which safe pharmaceuticals are available.

#10, tjeoretically "available". Many (most?) docs will not prescribe HCQ or ivermectin for Wuhan flu in the early stages, or for prophylactic purposes.
I am thinking very hard about contacting the Frontline docs and getting an online visit and a prescription for ivermectin, ... just in case.
