A man was caught at JFK Airport on Monday allegedly trying to smuggle in 35 live finches from Guyana—stuffed inside plastic hair curlers and concealed inside his clothes, authorities said. Kevin Andre McKenzie is just the latest alleged would-be songbird smuggler busted using the hair-accessory method to bring in the coveted creatures, which are used in high-stakes singing contests popular in Brooklyn and Queens. McKenzie allegedly told them he had been offered $3,000 to traffic the finches into the US. He was charged with the illegal importation of wildlife and was released on a $25,0000 bond, authorities said.

The CEO of a telemedicine company has denied harassing a teenage boy over his prom dress in a viral video of the confrontation, which has prompted accusations of homophobia and renewed outrage over intolerance for men choosing to wear dresses.
In the video filmed by the teenager's boyfriend, VisuWell CEO Sam Johnson can be seen arguing with a visibly upset high schooler wearing a floor-length red tulle gown at a hotel in Tennessee. Johnson then appears to try smacking the phone of Stevens' boyfriend Jacob Geittmann. In a pair of TikTok videos giving his side of the story, Geittman said Johnson

One hundred days into the Biden administration, The Washington Post is calling a lid on the presidential fact-checking database. Glenn Kessler, editor and chief writer of the Fact Checker, tweeted late Monday that the team would continue to fact-check President Biden “rigorously” but would no longer maintain the database started under former President Trump. “Here’s the Biden database—which we do not plan to extend beyond 100 days,” Mr. Kessler tweeted. “I have learned my lesson.”
He cited the enormous workload associated with keeping up with Mr. Trump. In February 2017, the Fact Checker launched a “new interactive graphic” to track “every suspicious

Robin Hauser, a pediatrician in Tampa, got COVID-19 in February. What separates her from the vast majority of the tens of millions of other Americans who have come down with the virus is this: She got sick seven weeks after her second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. "I was shocked," said Hauser.(Snip)These "breakthrough" infections occurred among people of all ages. Just over 40% were in people 60 or older, and 65% occurred in women. Twenty-nine percent of infected people reported no symptoms, but 7% were hospitalized and just over 1%, 74 people, died, according to the CDC.

Republican doctors and health pros in Congress promoted the COVID-19 vaccines Tuesday as safe and effective tools to wind down the pandemic and “end the government’s restrictions on our freedoms.” The public-service announcement from Sens. Roger Marshall of Kansas, John Barrasso of Wyoming, John Boozman of Arkansas and seven House Republicans does not mention former President Donald Trump by name but highlights his efforts to shepherd multiple vaccines to approval in under a year.(Snip) The Biden White House has acknowledged that it might not be the best messenger in getting Trump supporters vaccinated. Twenty retired French generals have called for military rule if Emmanuel Macron fails to halt the 'disintegration' of the country 'at the hands of Islamists', in an open letter published ahead of next year's presidential election. The open letter, published in Valeurs Actuelles, a right-wing news magazine, claims a military coup might be necessary to stop a 'civil war' in France. The letter has been condemned by Macron's government, who compared it to the failed coup by generals against President de Gaulle 60 years ago. However, far-right National Rally leader Marine Le Pen hailed the letter, which was signed by 80 other retired officers,

Chennai: Actor Vivekh, who suffered a heart attack on Friday, had a 100% block in his left artery and it may not be related to Covid vaccination, said Dr Raju Sivasamy, vice-president of SIMS hospitals.
