An Oscars unlike any before will get underway Sunday night, with history on the line in major categories and a telecast retooled for the pandemic. The 93rd Academy Awards will begin at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC. There will be no host, no audience, nor face masks for nominees attending the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Union Station — this year’s hub for a show usually broadcast from the Dolby Theatre. In contrast with the largely virtual Golden Globes, Zoom boxes have been closed out — though numerous international hubs and satellite feeds will connect nominees unable to travel.Show producers are hoping to return some of the traditional glamor to the Oscars,

John Nolte on Breitbart has a great series going now you should check out. It's his picks for Best Movie (and many recommendations) from 1920 to now. Good stuff and made me realize how many movies I have seen and loved. Fair warning, slim pickings from about '95/96 on. Nolte and I do not agree on everything, he loves war movies far far more than me and I love fantasy far far more than him, but I'd say his picks are solid.

The best way to defeat an industry that survives on our attention is to stop giving them any of our attention. With respect, I do wish Brietbart would start ignoring some things. I think the strategy or ignoring Hollywood completely be quite effective. Oscar Wilde once said - the only thing worse than people talking about you is people not talking about you.

There’s believing your own news releases. And then there’s believing your own delusions of grandeur. Joe Biden should look at the mirror every day and see a president elected on the basis of the unpopularity of his predecessor at a time when the country was slammed by a once-in-a-century pandemic. Instead, by every account, he sees a transformative leader with a mandate to change America as rapidly and irreversibly as possible. As the news site Axios noted, Biden wants his next 100 days to be “more audacious” than his first 100, as he seeks “to re-engineer the very fundamentals of America — inequality, voting rights and government’s role
