An Oscars unlike any before will get underway Sunday night, with history on the line in major categories and a telecast retooled for the pandemic. The 93rd Academy Awards will begin at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC. There will be no host, no audience, nor face masks for nominees attending the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Union Station — this year’s hub for a show usually broadcast from the Dolby Theatre. In contrast with the largely virtual Golden Globes, Zoom boxes have been closed out — though numerous international hubs and satellite feeds will connect nominees unable to travel.Show producers are hoping to return some of the traditional glamor to the Oscars,

We’ll be alphabetizing our socks……or is that the spices? Nevermind. We have a previous engagement.

Since I rarely watch movies, I doubt I'd even know who the winners are.

I just gave watching this some serious thought and discovered I have approximately one million other things I’d rather do.

Same here #7. I occasionally watch a streamed movie but it’s usually an old classic. I never heard of these movies up for awards and haven’t watched the Oscars in at least a decade.

John Nolte on Breitbart has a great series going now you should check out. It's his picks for Best Movie (and many recommendations) from 1920 to now. Good stuff and made me realize how many movies I have seen and loved. Fair warning, slim pickings from about '95/96 on. Nolte and I do not agree on everything, he loves war movies far far more than me and I love fantasy far far more than him, but I'd say his picks are solid.

All awards will be won by people no one has ever heard of for movies no one has seen.

Not watching, and I used to every year. I think the last time I watched them was the last time Billy Crystal emceed. I loved his doing that. I think it was when the 3rd LOTR movie won so many. 2003?

The best way to defeat an industry that survives on our attention is to stop giving them any of our attention.
With respect, I do wish Brietbart would start ignoring some things. I think the strategy or ignoring Hollywood completely be quite effective.

I heard an entertainment reporter speaking with Maria Bartiromo. The viewership last year was about 23 million. This year it is expected to be about 15 million. That is one heck of a drop off....hee, hee, hee.

I haven't watched one of these shows for the self absorbed for over 25 years. Besides, today I have to watch how the weeds grow in the woods.

You might return the glamor but you won't return the audience. Hollywood got woke, hollywood spoke, now hollywood is going broke. I'll be giving the dog a good brushing in the basement.
