The main source for Christopher Steele's discredited dossier, Igor Danchenko, defended the years he spent working at the Brookings Institution, as special counsel John Durham scrutinizes the Washington, D.C., think tank and its ties to the former MI6 agent's anti-Trump opposition research. Durham used a subpoena to obtain documents from Brookings related to its employment of Danchenko, a U.S.-based and Russian-trained lawyer who visited Russia in 2016 as he worked for Steele. It had all the makings of a once-in-a-generation scandal: allegations of political sabotage from a hostile foreign power, the willing cooperation of an upstart political candidate, a stolen election, a compromised U.S. national security system, and a genuine threat to the stability and integrity of the United States itself. Yet after several years of claims from politicians, activists and commentators that President Donald Trump and/or his campaign actively colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton, the scandal itself has essentially died

The PGA Tour is telling its players they will not have to be tested for the coronavirus if they are vaccinated, and those who aren’t will have to pay for their own tests starting this summer. In a memo sent to players Monday, the tour strongly encouraged them to get vaccinated. It stopped short of saying it would require players to be vaccinated to compete in tournaments. Players would be deemed inoculated 14 days after the full course of the vaccine.

A coalition of black leaders on Friday came out strongly in support of voter ID laws, arguing that most black voters feel the same way and rebuking what they said was the "oblivious" and "opportunistic" denial of those opinions by progressive leaders. The coalition — which includes U.S. Rep. Burgess Owens, former Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, former Texas state Rep. James Earl Wright, and former mayor of Cincinnati and U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Commission on Human Rights Ken Blackwell — declares at RealClearPolitics that "liberal orthodoxy" dictates that "all Blacks think alike

Senate Republicans will introduce legislation Thursday to create a new bipartisan national commission to reduce the deficit and balance the federal budget within 10 years.
Republicans are concerned about runaway government spending and how it will be funded after Congress spent nearly $6 trillion in pandemic relief last year while the Biden administration is gearing up to spend trillions more. “We are on an unsustainable trajectory. We’ve become numb to the word ‘trillion,’” said Sen Cynthia Lummis, a Wyoming Republican and the lead sponsor of the Sustainable Budget Act.

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio told Just the News that the outcome of the war in Afghanistan is going to be a "terrible thing," predicting that the Taliban will take over the country. Rubio, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was reacting to the Biden administration's reported plans to announce a withdrawal from Afghanistan by Sept. 11, 2021. "What they've announced is that they're going to stick with President Trump's decision with regards to Afghanistan," Rubio said on Tuesday.

Special counsel John Durham is reportedly scrutinizing British ex-spy Christopher Steele’s main source for his discredited dossier, using a subpoena to obtain documents from the Brookings Institution related to its employment of Igor Danchenko, a researcher who visited Russia in 2016 as he worked for the ex-MI6 agent.
The New York Times reported on Monday, citing “people familiar with the investigation," that Durham “has keyed in on the FBI’s handling of a notorious dossier of political opposition research both before and after the bureau started using it to obtain court permission to wiretap a former Trump campaign adviser."

George Floyd might be alive had former President Barack Obama not, for eight years, consistently play the anti-cop race card. Despite receiving more white votes than 2004 Democratic candidate John Kerry, Obama said: "The legacy of slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination in almost every institution of our lives -- you know, that casts a long shadow, and that's still part of our DNA that's passed on. We're not cured of it. ... Racism -- we are not cured of it."

Prince Harry is preparing to return to the UK for the first time since leaving Royal duties after the death of Prince Philip - but questions remain over whether Meghan will join him. Harry's grandfather's death comes weeks after they gave an interview to Oprah alleging racism in the Royal Family which aired while Philip was in hospital. The Sussexes, who faced calls to postpone the interview because Philip was unwell, accused an unnamed royal, not the Queen nor the duke, of raising concerns about how dark their son Archie's skin tone would be before he was born.

Public university officials violated the constitutional rights of a Christian student group and will now face a trial to set the compensatory damages for that violation, a court ruled this week. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship had operated continuously at Michigan's Wayne State University "since the 1930s" — until campus officials stripped its recognition in 2017 for "requiring that its faith leaders profess to be faithful," U.S. District Judge Robert Cleland wrote in a scathing 83-page ruling.

The White House is downplaying the national security implications of two suspected terrorists being arrested at the southern border as federal officials struggle with a surge in migrant crossings under President Joe Biden. It is "uncommon" for border agents to apprehend known or suspected terrorists, White House press secretary Jen Psaki insisted Tuesday. "While this is rare, this is a reflection of them doing their jobs," Psaki told reporters, referring to Border Patrol and other federal officers

I heard yesterday was a bad day for John Durham. He returned to Mike & Millie's Mini-Golf in Guilford, CT - - to try to break his own course record. But at the Water Wheel hole - - his ball hit a pebble - - and bounced into the water wheel. The two-stroke penalty ruined any chance he had to break the record. But he's still a great miniature golfer.
