The US will likely reach a “tipping point” over the next few weeks when supply of the COVID-19 vaccine will outpace those willing to receive it, according to a report released this week. “While timing may differ by state, we estimate that across the U.S. as a whole we will likely reach a tipping point on vaccine enthusiasm in the next 2 to 4 weeks,” the nonprofit Kaiser Family Foundation said in the report published Tuesday. “Once this happens, efforts to encourage vaccination will become much harder, presenting a challenge to reaching the levels of herd immunity that are expected to be needed,” the report said.

Olympia, Wash.–The Washington State Department of Agriculture has reported its first cases of COVID-19 antibodies in dogs. In total, 23 dogs who were part of a University of Washington study, tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies. While other cases of coronavirus in pets have been reported in the U.S., state officials say these are the first reported cases in Washington. The Washington State Department of Health recommends that you avoid contact with your pets if you test positive for COVID-19. If no one else can take care of your pets, wear and mask and wash your hands before interacting with them.

More than two dozen angry protesters swarmed the Oklahoma House of Representatives chamber during a session on Wednesday to demonstrate against several bills that target demonstrators and trans girls. The House and Senate were forced to lock their chambers as the protesters entered the Capitol's House gallery on the fifth floor while lawmakers were in session. Video shows the group chanting 'no justice no peace' and 'Black Lives Matter'. But others heckled legislators, with one screaming 'you are a [expletive] disgrace to the whole country!' One of the bills the group showed up to demonstrate against was a Republican-backed anti-protest bill

NBA star LeBron James called for the Ohio cop who shot dead 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant to be held accountable for his actions in a now-deleted tweet on Wednesday. Bryant, a black teenager, was killed by a white Columbus police officer on Tuesday while charging at two people with a knife, sparking more outrage over the continued use of lethal force by cops just moments after former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin was found guilty on murder and manslaughter charges over the death of George Floyd.
In response to Bryant's death, James, who is consistently outspoken about social justice issues, tweeted: 'You're next. #ACCOUNTABILITY.'

New York—Amazon is rolling out pay-by-palm technology at some Whole Foods grocery stores near its headquarters to make paying quicker and more convenient. The technology, called Amazon One, lets shoppers scan the palm of their hand and connect it to a credit card or Amazon account. After the initial set up, which Amazon says takes less than a minute, shoppers can scan their hand at the register to pay for groceries without having to open their wallets. Amazon first launched the technology late last year and at the time said the technology could be used at stadiums, office buildings and other retailers.

When Katy Fyksen got a heavy period a few days after she received her second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, she didn’t consider there might be a link. The 43-year-old Plainfield woman hadn’t had a period in over a year and a half because of her Mirena IUD, so the sudden red flow was a surprise. But she didn’t think about the timing in relation to when she received her vaccine until she saw a Twitter thread.(Snip) One Twitter user wrote, “I haven’t had a period in years and I’m about 3 weeks out of my second shot and I’m gushing blood

The Manhattan district attorney will stop prosecuting prostitution and unlicensed massage cases—and is tossing thousands of warrants dating as far back as 1975. DA Cyrus Vance Jr. appeared virtually Wednesday in Manhattan Criminal Court to ask Judge Charlotte Davidson to vacate 5,994 bench warrants and dismiss the underlying charges of prostitution, unlicensed massage and loitering for the purpose of prostitution.(Snip) “This announcement shows that the Manhattan DA is committed to changing its approach to the sex trade by decriminalizing people who are in prostitution and supporting those most at risk of exploitation,” said the Rev. The White House weighed in Wednesday on the police shooting of a knife-wielding teenage girl as she attacked another girl in Columbus, Ohio, by connecting the incident to “police violence” in minority communities and the death of George Floyd. White House press secretary Jen Psaki offered sympathy to friends and family over the Tuesday death of 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant, calling it “tragic” and saying that “She was a child,” before tying the shooting to race. “We know that police violence disproportionately impacts Black and Latino people in communities, and that Black women and girls, like Black men and boys, experience higher rates
